Sure.
In 2004, VT ranked 65th in yards per game, and 82nd in passing yards per game (with Bryan Randall).
In 2006, the team ranked 100th in yards per game.
In 2007, we were 75th in total offense and again 100th in yards per game.
In 2008, the season in which we won the Orange Bowl, we were 103rd in yards per game, 90th in ppg, and 111th in passing yards per game.
Lastly, in 2010, we managed to come out at #41 in yards per game, but still 73rd in passing yards per game, Tyrod's senior year.
All of those seasons ended with 10 or more wins.

Yep. And I know all of us triangle Hokies are going to wear the orange and maroon tomorrow. We're going to smile because as we know all too well Macho summed it up.

Minor setback for a major comeback.

I knew today felt weird. All of us did. But it's over. UVA lost. WVU did as well. And Miami, well. We got something for our real rival.

It's BC week. We've all sobered up. Put away the grills. Realized only one game is left for Lane this season.

But. We are smiling. Still, as usual, in the drivers seat to compete for championships. Still in the hunt for a big season ending stretch. We have seniors we love and hate to see go, but, look at what's to come.

Ohio state. Twice. The biggest college football game. Ever. Reavis. Kendall. Andrew.

Better put your shades on friends. If this is a rebuilding year, I'd hate to see this team hit all 8 cylinders. And I know for certain a lot of teams that don't want that.

As for our pals from Durham, we will see all 5 of the fans that were in the stadium next year down here. We are pretty good about exacting revenge. So for tonight I leave ou with the aforementioned words of wisdom with a couple more:

Minor setback. Major comeback.

And final parting words to BC, Miami, Maryland, and UVA.

"Sleep with one eye open...gripping your pillow tight..."-

Any are to run the offensive statistics of all those seasons you mentioned?

And those seasons also ended up in BCS bowl losses. So what exactly are we suppose to get pumped up over after Duke exposing our terrible offense?

Hopefully I'll be at one of the high points of this season. Miami game.

Great write up. Although I know the history well, it still hurts... especially the number one disheartening loss. For which I was in attendance.

Turkey leg for the days of thunder quote

RealDiehl. You're doing the lord's work son. Bringing up painful memories. The painful memories in some ways remind me that the wins are real. That this team is tougher than a bag of bricks made nails. Fuck what anyone says about "boohoohoo, we lost a game, it's so sad."

I say:
"Sack the fuck up. Get your ass back out there next weekend and shake those goddamn keys. Yell your lungs out. Go fucking nuts. I want you unable to talk on Monday. You're allowed to hurt. That means you care. You just can't bitch about it. Rub some dirt in that emotional hole in your heart. Or seal your heart of. Invest a little of your emotional energy to something else for a little while. Come back next week when you've recovered. Then shake those goddamn keys. Yell your lungs out. Go fucking nuts."

Got you covered for it

My first Virginia Tech game that I remember watching was when I was 4 years old. If you've ever watched football with a 4 year old, you know they're selfish little douches who root for whoever is winning because they want to have the rush of winning. The people I was watching it with though, they rooted for this team even when they were down an insurmountable amount. Do you know the fuck what? I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to root for the team in my hometown no matter what the fuck was happening. People loved them. I came to love them. Every heartbreaking game has been followed by tears, and then hopes of a better game. I fucking love this team. I love the players. I love the coaches. I don't fucking care what the scoreboard says, I'll still be there till the very end. I want them to win, that's the fucking point of me rooting for them. But if you stop rooting for them because they're not winning you never really rooted for them in the first place.

Well said...the players and coaches have already earned my respect, and now I can add Duke as well.

It's still something that will stalk my dreams and will require at least some therapy. But then that happens every time we suit up in orange pants.

Actually the knock on that particular site has been how their fans are delusional and make excuses for their losses.

Now on this site, people are not happy because our 14th ranked team got put down by a below average team at home....they are the bandwagon fans? Stop making excuses and realize that we arn't very good

It looked like a drop by Knowles in my opinion. Off the fingertips. Thats the defense for Logan. Advocate for Knowles is that pass was rifled, slightly high, and from less than ten yards away.

A swift kick in the ass is one thing. Rolling over and dying is another.

Kirk Cousins. But I agree.

If Knowles caught that cleanly, it's the longest VT play from scrimmage for a touchdown in school history

51-49 them now. I'm not sure you realize how strangely devoted to that bright red chicken nugget the people of western kentucky are. Even today I watched the game with a girl who loves big red and oh shit that bitch lost us the game.

Um. He had a touchdown bro. Let's not just discredit what he does in the rushing game. Look. Here's the deal. Beamer believes in LT3 because of his leadership abilities. I think this speaks more to Leal than it does LT3 really. People are talking about Leal being a front runner for next years starter. Really!? He should be head shoulders over everyone else the way everyone talks about him. I can only assume that he must be massively talented and just doesn't give enough of a shit. Say what you want about Logan, but he gives a shit. He gives to much of a shit. He breaks down emotionally when he feels like he is letting his team down.

We are about to lose to Western Kentucky too....the Big Red blob is about to take down the Hokiebird which is ridiculous.

That last Logan INT will haunt me for many years to come.

Statistically speaking we beat them in every category I can think of yet, scoreboard says differently. I wanna blame Cody but, I know the blame lies with the offense and I really feel bad for the defense. 14 was too high of a rank anyway...

Did Logan get confused that he was actually supposed to be playing football after 330? He is so used to the games being over at that point that maybe he forgot that even when its not a noon kickoff the games still count.
