You know, I think I remember seeing this play. At the time I thought, "Wait, why are we trying to throw the ball deep to Willie Byrn? Willie Byrn doesn't have the speed to go deep, he'll always be covered by a CB or a safety. Why didn't we send Knowles on that route?"

i expected this post to have a different tone from the title, i'm glad you went with the tone you did. i just got home and i'm not even gonna read the threads from yesterday cause i already know what they say. i've chuckled at some of the irrationally optimistic threads from the last couple of weeks and now things have gone all the way to the other end of the spectrum.
guys and gals, this team was never a serious contender for an mnc. we are a serious contender for the coastal. this is a disappointing loss for sure but it's not the end of days. it is one loss in the conference. the team needs to learn from its mistakes and move forward. personally, i'm gonna go do some laundry and play with my daughter. if folks wanna spend their time shitting all over a team and program they allegedly love at the first sign of adversity, then have at it.

Agree 100%. The coaches, French, and Mason said all week that Duke wasn't a team to be taken lightly. They are a competent football team. It still stings to lose to Duke though.
It was the wrong decision. Byrnn or whoever on the deep post to the middle of the field was behind the deep safety. A reasonable throw and its a TD.
Logan Thomas's career highlight tape will include the next pass that came after that. So I'm okay with the call either way.
I'm not in denial. I live near Duke and have gone to several games and each year Cutcliffe has made them a better team. This is not a team that has the talent to beat many of the ACC teams, but they have the discipline to make minimal mistakes (on defense) and that is what keeps them in a lot of games. They aren't a team that is going to blow coverages or give points easy. Summed up, they are very average. But average and disciplined can win games against the talented if they don't fully show up.

I think everyone on this site is in denial that Duke is actually decent. Those two teams "way worse than Puke" have combined for the total number of wins that Duke has this season. Another way to look at it: Miami has just one more win than Duke this season.

Well then I don't know what to tell you, if you saw Miami beat two teams way worse than Duke by a combined seven points and you think there's 'no open window' to winning the Coastal.
