That's it right there, defense played stellar but they are still pissed. This is still a good team, but I think they bye week did them a disservice. They will bounce back against BC.
Guys, we had a terrible game yesterday we all know this. Just remember that our past coaches killed us with 3-4 bad recruiting classes. We have a good class coming in and we are getting help at the positions we need it at. It will take us a year or 2 to get back where we should be. There has been a reason the new coaches are out on the road recruiting the prospects they want really hard. Just look at auburn this year, those are all guys grimes recruited.
Playing devil's advocate:
Beamer always says that if he has a good quarterback and a good kicker, he's ready for the season.
So what does that mean now?
I was thinking about this, too. I remember seeing him on the field a lot, but I can't recall them talking about him at all, Did he play so well that they didn't throw his way?
Yep, Kendall was matched up on Crowder all day and did a great job. I think Duke only had something like 7 total completions, so our secondary did great, Exum included. Glad to see him back on the field doing his thing.
If you listened to the announcers, you also heard that our all acc cornerback who returned from an acl injury was anthony exhume.
I agree with this. It is frustrating because over the years, we rarely beat a team that we shouldn't (i.e. a true upset) while it seems almost yearly we lose a game we really shouldn't. The perfect picture of this is our current record - two losses, one to Alabama and one to Duke. I grant you that this isn't the Duke of old, but still.
If we drop out it will be unfortunate as Duke is not getting the respect they deserve. If the rankings were actually based on watching the game, and not just W-L, then yeah we should drop, that was just a poor performance. I don't really care too much about the rankings--we aren't going to the NC or anything. But if we take care of business, play hard and tough, we still have a shot at the ACCCG and possibly a BCS bowl. That is a long shot, but this season was never about the rankings, it was about a team rebuilding and installing a brand new offense to an inexperienced group--the fact that we control our own destiny is something i didn't expect.
Sincerely,
The realist
We also didn't allow squat after halftime, while UVA didn't score after half and let up 35.
I think if I remember, Duke only had that one good receiver who Kendall covered most game--but I figured since Kendall was getting targeted so much, that must have meant Exum was doing a good job shutting his guy down. Will have to wait for french to get the final word.
I got your back on those posts. I agree, this trend of down voting because you are ticked off is ridiculous. Down votes are for offensive comments, not matters of opinion (or even emotion).
That being said VT has an open door to the championship game. It doesn't mean they can waltz in, so let's simmer down there. It simply means they control their own destiny and don't need anyone's help. If VT plays like they did against GT, UNC, and Pitt, they should have no trouble with Miami (in my own opinion). It will be tough, but as of right now, we do control or our destiny.
It seems like he wasn't targeted much, at all. I think Andy's post-game wrap had some notes and a quote from Exum about it.
23 at best. I'm thinking we drop out though.
I read that picture as "if I wasn't chained down I'd take your head off; you just keep thinking I look cute, just wait".
Great punt block schemes, no mistakes like we had against alabama...look, I am just saying that this is really half a team---or actually a little more than that. Our defense is one of the best in the nation, our special teams is average and our offense is bad, but they are not the worst. If we had the nations 50th ranked offense, like Duke does, this team would have had no trouble yesterday. They are more than half a team. We can dissect and analyze any way we want, but it is a huge discredit to the coaches and the team. They laid an egg today, but the sign of a truly 'good' team is how they respond next week.
Post game day dilemma, ...I want to watch espn, but I can't...because I can't take it :(
Maybe you're smiling. I woke up at 7:00 because I couldn't sleep. That game is still just eating at me. I know I'll get over it, and you're right, tomorrow I will be wearing the Maroon and Orange. But I need a Steelers win today. I really really really need one.
Or was our defense just that good, even down a few personnel?
Really, we have everything we want in front of us, Tyler said. We can still go to the ACC championship. We can still achieve those goals. Were just going to have to play a lot better and work a lot harder.
Sounds like he gets it. We still control our own destiny and Miami hasn't looked good. We weren't gonna win a national championship anyway, just gotta keep moving forward and learn from this.
Thanks to whoever took the time to go through and down vote every single one of my calm, non-argumentative replies. I could care less about my turkey leg count, honestly, but I really hate the negativity building on this site and the precedent it sets. Not a good trend to be on. I didn't down vote a single comment that anyone made today...
Blame the orange uni's all you want. It was Logan Thomas' inability to throw the football that cost us that game. Bad Logan reared his head and we lost to duke. No more TEs for QB please.
Uh you do realize (and this is just based on yesterday) that we could very well lose our remaining 4 games and end up with the exact same reg season record as last year.
...and the Mailman was wide open on the play. Logan stared down DK80 the whole time. The next play, the mailman was wide open again. The 3rd play Logan stares him down from the snap and doesn't make a completion. Just don't understand his thoughts/progressions.
The stadium was loud to the end.

I think the UGA kicker booted one from 56 yards out last week against Vandy, too.
