I agree, next week is a completely different ballgame. Gotta learn from what we did wrong and work on it. I'd rather lose to Duke and then turn around and beat Miami on the road. This team can do it if we move forward. I have faith.

I don't hate Logan Thomas, I hate 4 interceptions, one being in the red-zone and an offense that doesn't capitalize on 4 turnovers when a defense owns an opponent.

I know he is our QB, and the best option. But maybe all this is happening because he really isn't a QB?
He is a great athlete, don't get me wrong. But I'm not sure he is mentally there. I also think this may be partially why Bucky won't be a QB down the road, based on what everyone says about his development. You want these athletes on the field, but you want them in the right spot.
Next couple of seasons will be interesting.

At the bar tonight after we lost a Texas fan who was sitting next to me told me "Hey at least you're worst season in 20 years was a bowl win, I didn't think you guys would have a winning record so far." We then did shots of Wild Turkey.
This is one of those years where we take what we can get, the offense was shit for years. Change that we called for happened. Different coaches, different philosophies, different players needed. This is a team where we will win if the offense does just enough to ride on the defense. Today that didn't happen. When you overhaul a coaching staff there are going to be growing pains. This year it happened that the defense is balls to the wall amazing, but the offense can at times get out of it's own way. We were never expected to be in a position to control our destiny to the ACCCG, but we still are. And to be quite honest, we're spoiled with winning. Let things get settled before you start calling for heads.
Just a week ago there were posts about how we could make it to the MNC game, this week we lost to Duke. I'm curious as to how many of the people spewing vitriol over this loss were playing the "Road to Pasadena" game. I'm not saying don't be pissed, just don't shit on the team and just man up and take a shot of Wild Turkey.
Besides, Logan needs to get some game reps at tight end, because its a pipe dream he will have a solid career in the NFL as a QB, that would be a Tebowesque move if he trys it
Yeah, Duke definitely was the better team today with our help. It just hurts when stupid mistakes cause a loss and then Beamer praises the other team. I understand it is classy (I love that we have one of the classiest coaches in the nation!) but tonight I would've rather heard him say "we made mistakes, we did this wrong, and this wrong and it's inexcusable" rather than making Duke sound like they played great. Neither team played great.
But hopefully on the other side of the coin the kid might be thinking: great atmosphere, great campus, great facilities. I want to come play here and help them get back on track on offense. At least thats my dream.

I don't know what the recruits thought, but I'm sure some were turned off by the offense, some were probably unimpressed by the crowd, some may love Blacksburg and want to help the Hokies win regardless of their play. Others may want Bud Foster to be their coach. Teenagers are fickle. However, Tech went 7-6 last year and are having one their best recruiting cycles ever.
Your signature mentions "tough". Change is tough. To expect the new coaches to turn the previous regime's players into gold in a single season is unrealistic and foolish. Loeffler and Co. may turn out to be failures at Tech, but they deserve time to fail, or succeed.

student sections were phenomenal today. it was full and loud the entire game. much less throwing of paper airplanes than of late. the empty areas of the stadium were top of south, top of east on south half, and some of west

Let's not rag on the team that we love. We love them for having a soul, which we often criticize programs like Alabama for not having. This is a team that means something. This is a team that even when everything goes wrong, is still there, playing their goddamn motherfucking nuts off. If you think you can make better decisions about who should be playing, you go ahead, walk into the Athletics department, and demand to be named head coach. I fucking dare you to fucking do it. Either do that, or shut the hell up about how Leal should be in, or how Journell should be out. If you think that the players aren't doing enough, go ahead and walk out the practice field, and demand to be named starting quarterback. I fucking dare you to fucking do it. Either do that, or shut the hell up about how Logan Thomas is a big dumb oaf.
FULL DISCLOSURE: This message is in agreement with Hoqiez. Not an attack on him. He's getting a turkey leg for voicing my opinion. Hokies' Respect is something that means something to me. We need to face the facts that our players played their nuts off, but that Duke's players simply had more nuts to play off. We need to use the love that we have for our team as fans and direct toward the team in a positive way. We need them to know that we are proud of our Hokies, but hungry for them to win. We need them to know that we care just as much as they do, but we just don't have the talents that they have. We need them to know that it's not just them out on an island all by themselves, and that we want what they want too.
