You say sad, I say "exactly what we've come to expect" after years of the Stiney & Newsome clownshow.
Feel bad for Logan. His lack of good coaching until Lefty showed up isn't his fault. I'm sure he's playing to the best of his current ability, and that he could be a great project QB in the pros.
But he just doesn't have the automatics that a 5th year qb should have.
Going through progressions.
Hot reads.
Touch (vs the heater).
Etc...
These things had all improved dramatically before today. Big step back today.
Just looking forward to the future, and looking forward to watching our D against anyone, no matter where they are ranked.
But I'm getting to the point I only want to watch our Offense through beer goggles.
2 loses, 2 games with huge special teams errors. Should CJ step out on the field anymore? If he is performing this poorly, lets give someone else a shot.
Foster again showing he is one of, if not the, best DCs in the country. Even on the 4th down play, he had multiple guys in place to make the stop.
The play of Fuller doesn't need to be discussed because everyone knows he is an unbelievable talent.
I apologize. It was my fault. I knew fully that each home game my daughters attend, VT wins.
I selfishly wanted to stay for the whole game and knew my 4 y.o. Would get cold and want to leave.
I did not bring them to the game. It's my fault, I blew it. I hope I can be forgiven.
On another note, there was a guy in Sec 13 row WWW with a t-shirt, horse on a treadmill. I mentioned The Key Play to him and he stared blankly at me as he walked in front of my seat. Don't know if he misunderstood me because I was stone cold sober or if he's not here.
I think Shane's been in an odd spot. A lot of talent, but no clear-cut leader at RB so he keeps having to try guys out in live situations. I absolutely think that Hite needed to go. I remember reading about his recruiting exploits and he had become a liability with his attitude. He was stuck in the past. Shane is essential for recruiting, and I think he will eventually get the RBs worked out, especially with some of the guys we have coming on board. If we can establish a clear-cut best/go-to RB, he can tune his coaching and planning better. Right now, I feel like it's still a fair bit of, "oh hell, no one's doing well, so who's standing closest to me?" I don't know that anyone would do better.

Not the first time we looked like this, nor will it be the last. When I was younger I used to wake up in the morning feeling like my dog died after a loss like this. I know it sucks guys.
My advice is to not read the national stuff this week. Also redirect your anger from our team onto something more constructive. Honestly I'm a little disappointed with the disrespect that I've seen on the site today towards our own. I'm not talking about expressing your opinion on whether a player or coach is good or not, I'm not going to get mad at anyone for calling for Leal or just general bitching. I mean the vitriol aimed at our players, today seemed a little more high than usual for my taste.
Logan struggled because he is a great tight end playing QB. I think he is a great kid who did what the coach's asked of him and moved to a position that requires "football thinking" and he has a God given great talent that will hopefully get him to the NFL where real coaches can work with him at the correct position, wherever that might be. But right now, he is not a "thinking" QB, not only with reading routes, but also knowing when to throw it hard and when to have touch. I think he did much better in the previous games because he had no choice but to put touch on it and think quickly because he was banged up. I remember him saying his arm after the bye week was "live" again... I thought, great here we go again...
yay for other people using south park references!
2007 was six years ago.....
thank you guitar man, and pardon the horirble english *since* god damn alcohol doesnt mix well with depression and coherent thoughts, but yeah, am I the only one here who thinks that or has recognized that? we used to churn our NFL RBs back when Hite was coaching butttttttttttttt not so much anymore, I would love to have an intelligent conversation about this
Hmmm, who is the running backs coach?? When did we stop running down hill??? Not being rude, but that position is broken and needs to be fixed
If he says that, he will have to change his last name to "Spurrier".
I don't blame CFB for this loss based on this year primarily.
I blame him for it the past 4 years, well after the sell-by date on coaches that were allowed to erode the program to the bone on the offensive side of the ball in regards to talent and schematics. There, but for the grace of Tyrod Taylor, our 10 win streak would have ended far earlier.
But.
At least he finally made the coaching changes that any rational actor would have made years ago. I'll give it another 2 - 3 years before I throw in the towel on him, and by that time, he'll be retiring anyway.
His failure this year is that he is loyal to a fault. Loyal to his starting QB, loyal to his starting kicker.
I love Logan, but tonight he was just off. I don't know why, and I don't care. When one player is killing your game plan, you must have the fortitude to look to the future, at least for this night. If Leal is good enough to be the front-runner for starter next year, then you put him in for a series or two when this year's starter is struggling, and at least get him some reps.
And there is simply no reason to play Cody Journell anymore. Don't even know why he is still active here in what, his fourth chance? He is a crapshoot on the field, and a proven liability off it. Again, I don't know why and I don't care. But our next kicker could profit from game opportunities.
Either you take advantage of a rebuilding year and start preparing for the future, or you throw away valuable live snaps and potentially handicap next year before it's even started.

Good eyes. I think most of our early 4th downs were in the same space.
Everyone's in a bad mood right now. Offset with a +1 for a reasonable opinion.
My girlfriend got me a mostly orange polo from a thrift store. She didn't know better, I'm still teaching her. Actually I have a few orange tshirts, I like it on its own, Michaelangelo was always my favorite turtle and whathaveyou, but maroon on the football field please.
This thread is disgusting
downvote? for what? little beamer is a hell of a recruiter but sense hes taken over our RBs have not impressed me
Agree but the fact that we did jack shit w those 4 ints is really sad.
I wasn't saying to get rid of Beamer.
Joe, just when I had decided to stop caring about this team again this year, and instead spend that time on something else more worthwhile, you write this article and give me that glimmer of hope and reel me back in. Sigh. We Hokies are gluttons for emotional punishment.
We're gonna destroy em in Durham next year. Also for whatever reason I feel like we'll be more focused now for BC.
Also also, this team reminds me of those Tony Dungy Tampa Bay Buccaneers teams that had Shaun King playing QB. Legendary defense, offensive offense.
forgot he was in serious contention for that until I saw that hit.
It's because he's made a living off of those 7- yard underneath throws with YAC from Byrn this season.

I'm doing literally the same thing. Just me and my thoughts lol.
