thanks for mentioning my ideas here :) The issue as 804VTHokie points out is at football games, you can just leave your ticket behind. I think the key to making the point system fair would be making your hokie passport your literal passport to everything. Or else create a card that is a sports passport...(which now that I saw that, I really like this idea)
Students can buy basic, premium, or elite passes. (basic would be for any student to have and the others would be monetary upgrades). With each upgrade the student could purchase certain food and beverage items at a discounted cost. In addition, if a student wants to transfer their ticket to a friend, they can do so electronically and it will be reflected at the gates of Lane. By doing this electronically, a standby line can be formed at lane for those who do not have student season tickets and, in real time, can be notified if there are empty seats to be filled (obviously I wouldn't recommend opening standby until somewhere in the end of the 1st or beginning of the 2nd quarter.
Heck...you could even put sports-dining-dollars on these passports for exclusive use at sporting events.
I think you could just develop a smart phone app that is linked to a student account, where you could check in via GPS at the stadium in a window from like 2:00 left in the game up to 30 mins after the game. For people without smart phones, just get your ticket scanned on the way out.

They held themselves out of bowls for 2 consecutive seasons but think about what bowls they would have been in:
2011: 6-6
2012: 7-5
They would have been in garbage bowls, if at all. I guarantee you that if they were 10-2, and had an opportunity at a BCS bowl they would have been there. That is why it bothers me that they don't have a bowl ban--after several schools have received the post season ban, Miami walks away because they had self-imposed bowl bans...NCAA is inept.

Don't make rules (or laws) unless you are willing to enforce them, don't break rules (or laws) unless you are willing to suffer the consequences. Alabama's actions against those student groups are totally justifiable, and hopefully they will learn their lesson and be the faithful fans that their agreement obligates them to be. I live and work in a country where the laws are not enforced, and you don't want to be there, unless you like chaos.
I have my eye on Bristol 2016 for Metallica to open up the festivities right.

I was never in the MVs but a number of classmates that were in grades above me from my HS marching band (James River Regiment) were in the MVs (knew a bone and Trpt player). My fave memory was watching them perform in exhibition at one of the competitions we went to (my freshman yr of HS).

I could go in SO many directions with that...but no. I digress. In fact, I'm somewhat astonished and puzzled that this thread has already gone in those directions (ie american pie, band camp, etc)
