LSU has won in spite of the Mad Hatter's coaching....not because of it

Woah woah woah, Les Miles is one helluva football coach. I actually tweeted about this very thing on Saturday before the game. There is so much more to coaching then X's and O's and time management. Tactics are important, but they are only part of the equation. You line 11 guys up on the field and you give them a job every play. Whether that play turns out to be a success is determined by 1) WHAT you asked each player to do... and 2) HOW you asked them to do it. Most coaches are good at number one and some are good at number 2. The great coaches are good at both.

You could have a unique and innovative way to beat the Tampa-2 defense... but if you can't communicate your game plan in your players or instill in them the confidence to go do it then it won't matter. They won't be able to execute what you want. You can also be the greatest cheerleader of all time and have your boys fired up to run out on the field... but if you're going to QB sneak it every play you're never going to win many football games.

Les Miles may not be the greatest Chalkboard Champion of all time, but he can COACH some football. He has surrounded himself with talented coaches, he has drawn talented young men to play for him, and he has created a culture around his program which propels his players to reach their potential.

There are probably 300 coaches in the NCAA who could whip Frank Beamer in a tactical trivia game. But how many of those coaches could have sat at the helm of the Tech program and steered it back into the top twenty after last season's debacle? Not very many.

I love Les Miles because his kids clearly love to play for him. Who wouldn't want to play for this guy?

We would be even higher in the computers, but one labeled "RB" has us NR (Not Ranked)?! Maybe the RB is for our running backs? jk

I had growing concerns about UMD until this past week when the receivers went nighty night for the season.

Now my main concern is whether or not we can force UVA into negative points somehow.

Well everyone, since our offense has yet to break out this season any team can score a few TDs could very well win. Marshal comes to mind..the offense put up 14 in regulation to 21 by the Herd. Without the special teams score on the blocked punt..we likely lose that game.

Duke, always play us tough and they have a lot of LOLUVA fabricated confidence.

Can be tough to fire up the engines after a bye too.

I know it's not mathematically rigorous (sue me, I haven't taken a math class in over 10 years), just going off of the original question - would VT be considered better than Clemson if VT beats FSU? I laid it out chronologically rather than in the most compact math form. I'll try to step up my game.

I think as long as we keep winning, I bet we can move up and crack the top 8, but thats about it. If we beat FSU in the ACCCG, then I'm actually curious to see what would happen. But hey, I'm getting ahead of myself. We need to take care of Duke first.

And I still think BC is a trap game.

Go Hokies!

Every game concerns me. One at a time.

But Miami is the game we have to have so that one is a concern. Plus, I'll be in attendance for that one.

Exactly!

LSU has won in spite of the Mad Hatter's coaching....not because of it. They just had the talent to overcome his poor decision making.

It's just nice to see it finally karma served.

BC. BC BC BC. Yes Im a little concerned about Miami, but mostly out of respect for every opponent we play. Not taking anyone for granted. At the end of the day though, Florida gift wrapped that game to them. I believe we'll be ok since we have a comparable or better defense. But BC has been playing the big boys close. I see them as the biggest trap game on our schedule
