im with ya man, why does this get under the skin of so many people? why is it impossible to be a diehard fan AND have a little fun at the game? i have a friend on the team ive mentioned it to him before and he said it doesnt bother him or the team in general at all. just drink another beer and chill out.

Wow, watching that speed is ridiculous. In the first one, I'm pretty sure he teleported, because there is no way a human being can make up that much ground.

So, what's the future for Dadi and Foster's D? Will he only play back-up DE or will his role expand? I have no idea, but I will say this. When VT plays mobile QBs, they should use Dadi as a QB spy. With his speed, I can just imagine Boyd trying to break away only to get leveled by Dadi at the line of scrimmage.

We shouldn't downvote opinions, as this is Hokiejoe's opinion. But I will tell you this, Hokiejoe, from the diehard fans who do care about the team and the game, we honestly wish everyone who throws a paper airplane would never show up to another game. You can throw paper airplanes off the top of Slusher Tower and try to get them to the drillfield. You can throw paper airplanes across Torg Bridge.

But when you go to a football game, you're there in support of your team. Not to take selfies, not to instagram the jumbotron, and you're sure as hell not in Lane Fucking Stadium to throw a damn piece of paper onto Worsham Field. Support your team. That's what you paid your ticket for. Act like a Hokie, not a dumbass Wahoo who doesn't care about their football team.

You didn't deserve all the negative turkey legs for stating your opinion, especially since it placed football over the wave and the airplanes. But people do however throw the airplanes at inappropriate times which is why many people (including myself) don't care for them.

FYI, the ESPN commentators mentioned that the wave was going around. That never looks good to a national audience.

Ok, weighing into the paper airplane debate...

I have never experienced the paper airplanes. Last game I was able to see was against Central Mich several years ago, and I saw no planes. Before that time had not been back for a game since '99 when I graduated. (Living overseas makes it so damn hard to see live games... sigh... )

But my 2 cents is this: I think gameday traditions change and evolve over time. I am not sure when shaking the Keys started exactly (mid-1980's I know) but it caught on. And we do it on 3rd downs. Keys make noise, shocker, while our offense is playing. I have talked to other older fans that find the "key play" tradition exceedingly stupid, or at least did when it started. But it's our tradition and as this website's name proves those new fangled ideas by younger fans catch on and become something more.

So on its merits I am not opposed to the airplanes, but I wish it could symbolize something more than apathy or disinterest. For example, when Logan delivered the airmail to the Paperboy for 83 yards, then the bombers go flying. Or if our kickers boom a punt or make a long FG, then the bombers come out. Or perhaps its part of our timeouts, tv timeouts, half time... something.

Right now the planes are used as something negative. If the students really enjoy the planes then give it meaning and let it become something more. New traditions help new generations of fans become diehard Hokies, and I think everyone on this site is for more of those.

I think you hit the nail on the head as far as his demeanor was for this game. He was completely out of control. When he was on the field he was flying around and on the sideline he was doing his best to pump up anyone that was around him. I hope that energy stays the hole year and becomes infectious because I know it was getting me fired up.

From what I saw on the replay in the stadium, as well as the video on the ACC network linked in one of the twitters in the original post, its clearly a catch, gets blown up, he's down, then ball comes out. It was one hell of a hit, but he definitely completes the catch and was down by contact.

I'm sorry but I can't agree to that on any level. The O line has gotten a free pass not just this year, but since Newsome arrived and to this day since we're still paying the price. Simply not fair to the Defense, which with FEW exceptions shows up every year. I do care that our running game sucks, and I would be shocked if Loeffler shared your opinion that winning is good enough. I get what you're saying - wins are great - but that's what people thought w/ the former staff and all the ten win seasons. If we truly want to be elite then it has to be in all phases of the game.

I could care less about polls. they don't mean diddly right now. At the end of the year, maybe. Not now.

Loved the pure physical prowess Dadi displayed yesterday, but I think some of the sacks that he just missed were because he came in a little out of control. If he could have contained himself just a little, I think he would have had three or four more sacks. A few times he ran right by the QB.

As I see the replay, the camera shot from the end zone shows he had the ball tucked until his whole forearms hits the ground. I was hoping for a fumble but, I thi it was clear he caught it then the hit and he lost it when he hit the ground.

If people really want to throw paper airplanes, someone should organize a throwing event for AFTER the game. Then the throwers have to stay all 60 minutes, and it can't happen during a play. If the school sponsored it, they could track anyone who threw early. It would be something, although the best option would be to sack up and give real tickets to students.
