And there it is. Going 7-6 after all the hype of being good, barely squeaking by in games we should have easily won, and the team coming out and not playing like they were capable of will cause any analyst to hedge their bets. Unfortunately we have given them ammunition by our play in the 'big' games. In my opinion we are talented enough to beat any given team in the NCAA, but the determination was sometimes not there. I personally blame the former (offensive) coaching staff for not firing up the team for the game and think (hope) the current staff will not allow that to happen. I don't think Coach Foster ever lost the drive but his defense could not do it all, all the time.
I didn't realize these needed to be in last night, so if its ok, please just give me a loss for UCLA/Utah

Lets hold off on relegating one of our QBs before we've seen any of them play. 2015 is a long time away and somebody is going to get left out. That's what happens in big-time football programs. You have to forgive them (not really). It's just super simple to add a "c" to the beginning of "hokie" and transform it into a derogatory term. They like the sound of it rolling off their tongue, in spite of the fact that they've only beat us once in...oh...13 years now? I mean, it's not like we have an easy way to say they choke. We actually have to be creative to deride them.

Besides, 1-0 is hardly in the driver's seat. Lose Saturday, and and the Hokies are right back in the backseat with GT and UNC.
We need to remember that last year's 7-6 team started out 1-0 in the conference with a win over GT.

I agree. Hopefully force them to run the read option and force Renner to keep it. Hit him hard and hit him often. I asked a sports show on Sirius College Sports radio, Mark Schlabach (spelling) and Gene Chizik, what they thought about the game and they didn't seem too concerned with UNC that much. Said UNC didn't look to physical this year and didn't think they could match up physically with Tech. Hopefully they are right. They seemed a lot more optimistic than we are but I think we know the Hokies a little better.

Ugh I forgot they played last night. I knew there was a game on I wanted to see and all I could find on TV was Texas vs Iowa State. Turned out to be a pretty close game, but I would have rather seen UCLA. I get FS1, I wonder why I didn't see it while I was flipping around channels.

If the situation on defense is what it appears to be, with the players potentially bailing on the coach (or vice versa), I could see Fedora firing the defensive coordinator, but Fedora himself is probably safe.

Losing to Pittsburg and Cincy, then going 7-6, then barely squeaking by Marshall and ECU will do that to some people that aren't true-believer fans.
Saban, or Mack Brown, or Muschamp, or pick another coach at a high-profile program have a leg up on other programs with recruitment just for this reason.
They can run a 'clean' program and just step back while the boosters do the dirty work and get the kids they want.
