Bonner is a safety, so that means he is in man coverage, close to the line of scrimmage to stop the run. I can't complain with his performance. In my opinion, the first PI on bonner was crappy, he had his arm on him but I don't think he was interfering and the second was just an underthrown ball. I do think Bonner is prone to falling for double moves, but last night he was close to the line of scrimmage so much.

People caught passes except DJ Coles with that one big drop. CK1 is now Kalvin's nickname.

It's cause Sam Rogers had a talk with the ball and quelled its fear. See he was "dropping" the balls earlier in the season because they were afraid of his grip.

Well he got burned on it when they hit that 40 yard pass to score a touchdown. He is getting burned on double moves.

I said this on another thread but I'll repeat it here. I love how our secondary is playing as a whole right now, and Bonner is part of that. Having said that, he's easy to isolate and when he has to cover someone deep, he's going to get burned, and if the pass is short, he doesn't get his head around to locate the ball.

I noticed that we started to play some kind of coverage where a deep ball always seemed to give time for another DB to get there to help him (I think Kendall's int came off of this), but it was helped by the fact that they always had two guys (at least) going deep so another DB was already back there. Combine this with the fact that Vad throws the ball really really high and there was usually enough time for help to arrive. This won't work all the time, so Bonner appears to be a liability in coverage.

If Exum returned to safety, our secondary would be too good for words. But I hate to disturb the team as it stands.

I believe we are still averaging 3 turnovers a game. That was a big difference tonight. Our team played a near perfect game as I've seen. PI calls are part of the game and Bonner played hard and didn't let it affect him. He came up with a big pass breakup late in the game that was critical. Logan played his best game since the 2011 season.

Sam Rogers had a sweet one handed catch early in the game tonight. Is there nothing this kid can't do?

I did, I guess they knew that we were about to score and to just tack on the points then, :D.

Right. Sometimes he gets flat out beat, but when he's beat and the ball is underthrown, he never gets his head turned around. The PI in the end zone resembled, at first, Kyle's bat-down from the Alabama game, but then it became apparent that he interfered with it. As much as I love how our secondary it playing as a group, I can't help but think Exum returning to safety would make us truly dominant. Bonner did look good when he wasn't playing in coverage, though, it just took a real simple design to isolate him on a WR he couldn't cover.

Beamer bobbleheads should have a stationary head and a bobbling midsection.

I loved this. I saw the look at the whole stadium early on and it wasn't full. I didn't get the joke. I also loved hearing LET'S GO HOKIES in the 4th. It was the loudest anyone in the stadium had been all day. Truly impressive, fans of ours, well done and turkey leg to all of you.

Did anyone else see that ESPN has us up 6-0 before the opening kickoff?

I wish at least the guy would have finished out the season and not quit during the middle. Look at all the injuries we have had at the position (we still have a lot of bodies there though). I don't know the details about his personal issues but best of luck to him and I thank him for his service.

THe funniest part about the Sabre to me is that you know they all just want to bash us....but there's gotta be that little voice in the back of their head saying, "but they've beat us 9 years straight and have held the Commonwealth Cup for over 3000 consecutive days" that keeps them from doing it too much.

Let's hope he sorts it out and returns a wrecking ball a la Corey Marshall. Even when Malleck returns, DPM could still be good for us.
