This being my first official comment on this fantastic website, I wanted to say something insightful, but I can't, because F GA TECH. I hate them. As a fan of the game, when the Bees are not palying us, I really want to enjoy the nuances of the triple option and appreciate the new wrinkles they've added this year, but CPJ's stupid, smirking face ruins it for me every time. I know this is all completely irrational and I am sorry for the rant. Actually, I'm not sorry. I hope I dont have to punch a hole in my tv tonight. I really wish I could drink on the job today.

It also seems that when we run play actions, Logan hands off to the wrong side like half the time.
This may be because the RB is going the other way to pick up a block but I just seem to notice it more with us than any other team.

I think you hit on something there that caused me to ask the question in the first place. Its that as its happening you almost see the running backs stop...not just slow down.
I think it's fair to call them the favorite. And they're favored in Vegas. But to me, every single game ever played will have a team favored for one reason or another. I don't think EVERY single game is considered an upset if the favored team doesn't win. When a heavily favored team loses to a significantly less established team, it is an upset.
Yes, GT has a leg up on the coastal division and it's true that they still don't have a loss. But our loss came at the hands of #1 Bama, and aside from UNC (and at this point they're questionable) GT has had a pretty soft schedule. I think it would be more accurate to consider VT and GT evenly matched. Therefore, the loser of the game wouldn't have suffered an upset.
But perception is perception. Tech-nically they are favored so I can see your argument, but I get the sense the media is considering a VT victory an upset because it would surprise them.
Everyone was surprised when App State toppled Michigan. THAT was an upset.
I agree completely. I have always thought that LT takes way longer even in his 5 or 7 foot drop. Maybe it is his height but he definitely seems to take longer to get back there and hand off. I get very frustrated each game when Trey is trying to get the ball but has to stop his forward momentum for LT to decide if he is going to hand it off or not. Zone read is great and helps us but we do need some down hill running as well.

If you extend the "rankings" past just the top 25, they are #27 and we're #33. And we're 3-1 and they're unbeaten, and they've already beaten 2 ACC opponents (including some people's preseason Coastal favorites) while we've struggled to get past 2 (admittedly decent) C-USA teams. All things considered, I think they've earned the right to be called the "favorite" at this point in time.

ah...noted. Well amazing post of his design then. I love that design the best, can't wait to see what they come up with I just hope it stands up. I really wish they would have stronger designers like Clark working on our unis.

well they're not ranked. I don't think it's appropriate to say we're ranked lower than them, since they're NOT ranked.
For the same reason, I think it's ridiculous to consider this a game worthy of the "Upset Watch" tag. If they were ranked and we beat them that would be an upset. If we were ranked and they beat us that would be an upset.
Two unranked teams facing off at the beginning of the season...doesn't fit the profile of an upset.
Maybe I'm crazy, but the fact that EVERYONE seems to think if VT wins it's an upset is really bothering me.
