No horses, either.
Circle of life.

I don't know any facts but I assumed that a scholarship in another sport or an academic scholarship turned them into a walk-on for sports for which they weren't on schollies. I know less of these details than all of you, though. I'm just using logic. But there might not be any room for that in the NCAA's place.
Worse would be if they said "Vah" and "Gah" Tech
I hate to give you your 421st turkey leg, but BOOM goes the dynamite!

Really? Because I can't imagine that anybody nationally gives a damn that Bobby Dodd stadium has remained half full for 100 years now.
GAH Tech -6.5
LSU +3.5
OU -3.5
Ole Miss +16.5
Washington -8.5
Ohio State -7.5
Do you know how did the football games become exempt? I'd be willing to put in the legwork with the athletic department to make this happen.
My drinking game for all VT games of late:
On defense:
1. Stand up and watch intently and quietly.
2. Upon sack, int, ff, etc jump up and down while spilling beer down my face
On offense:
1. Drink constantly
I was surprised she was so stupid as to troll Bud Foster. I'd love the hear what Bud left on that snarky giraffe's answering machine.
I know I put this with the link on the helmet thread, but "ChopChamps95" response to our helmet selection (coinciding with their white out and 100th anniversary):
You're absolutely right Ken, they didn't want to be outdone. All eyes were going to be on Tech and about the celebrating the stadium's 100th anniversary and VT couldn't take being left in the shadows and having to play 2nd fiddle to their opponent. I guarantee you that's why they're wearing those helmets, so atleast some attention will be paid to them.
It was wrestling scholarship he took but can't say whether or not it counts toward 85 either. I wrestled at the same time and in same district as his older brother John who was 1 hell of a wrestler and football player as well. He was also a very good offensive lineman at Duke. I saw him handle Corey Simon from Florida State his senior year.
On the ESPN bit about them, the dufus reporting went on and on about how they don't look good in Sunlight. For the Thursday night game. Right.
Real reason for the helmets per GT fan (I think): we're playing "second fiddle" to 100th anniversary and White Out.
"Not to be outdone, Virginia Tech will don a helmet designed after the "Hokie Stone" -a type of rock mined near the Blacksburg campus."

I was just going by appearance and I for one enjoyed the heck outta that 3OT game against Marshall. Anyone who actually knows football knows how good Marshall is (especially offensively) and Sanchez went to USCw and failed hard in the NFL, which is just comical to me.
same boat... it blows
I thought the same thing! For all their engineering pride, that was a lame website. Convincing win for TKP!
It really depends on if we are in the regular Cov-2 or the invert Cov-2. I would imagine that we would use the inverted more because it puts the safeties at a better angle against the arc release block (Wing back) and it allows our better cover guys to do more covering while our safeties are more active against the run. We might even mix in some turn-and-run man outside as well in certain situations. Like French said, they will try to hit the post (WR) and wheel (Wing back) combination which puts a lot of stress on the deep cover guys, regardless of which zone coverage we are in. If we are in regular cover 2 they might have the WR crack inside on the rover/FS/Whip and leave our corners unblocked and in an unfamiliar position against the QB and pitch back. The freshmen are going to have to be ready against either scenario because we will need to mix-up coverages at least a little bit throughout the game.
I believe our D will do fine against their O. However the big question is how will our O perform against their D. I think they win that battle and our D gets worn out from being on the field for so long and GT gets points on the board. I hope the O pulls something out this game and D comes through with some key turnovers but barring that and some sp tm play I don't see us walking out of Atlanta with a win. Great review, though.

Like many of you, I'm unfortunately a fan of Virginia Tech basketball. It's only less painful that being a Virginia Tech football fan
In either '08 or '09 season, we lost at least 8 games on buzzer beaters. That was the most painful season of sports I've ever been involved in. When I die of a heart attack, I'm blaming VT basketball and Seth Greenberg.

Sh!t!
Nice toes, then... [Boom]
