Playoffs? I love it when the that time of the year comes around and this is all over the place being played over and over again!

I would be ok with all but the white VT in those four options he has posted. They look pretty sharp there, especially teamed with the #allmarooneverything uni's

Hey, at least I read through stat sheets and try to talk to coaches, I doubt any of them put forth that much effort.

I am expecting VT to finally put it all together. I know it's a short week and I know it has not happened yet but week 5 is a great place to start. If we win on the road against a "decent (in the eyes of the mainstream media)" Ga Tech then we will start to gain respect. That being said, this one is a tossup. It's going to be a dogfight as always. I think a win Thursday propels this team to wins against UNC and PITT barring any major mental lapses. Suddenly VT and Miami will be facing off for the division and suddenly VT will be ranked. My whole line of thought is contingent upon the offense keeping drives alive to score and getting 1st downs to rest the defense. We all know this is an elite defense this year and if the offense can finally start to compliment that defense we are going to have a solid season. I don't mind the disrespect of the uninformed of ESPN or Bleacher report if come December a 1 loss Hokie team is squaring off against an undefeated Florida State or Clemson...barring a dud by Florida State (re-NC State last year) or a Clemsuck (re South Carolina almost every year). Nothing would be sweeter than earning said respect by taking revenge on either of those teams. Go Hokies!!!

Coach O'Shea?

Who, me? No way, he's much worse.

Weaver sets the start time for all ESPN3 games, because ESPN doesn't care when that's on. He picks 1:30 because it's late enough so you're not tailgating for breakfast, and still early enough that people can drive home to NoVA or the 757 after the game is over.

Other good signs:

Trey Edmunds is averaging 4.5 yards per carry and on 78 carries he has only had 9 yards worth of negative plays.

Chris Mangus is much more productive than I thought he would be this season. He has become very dangerous out of the backfield.

Five receivers have 7 catches or more. That makes it difficult for a defense to key on one guy.

The nice thing is, Georgia Tech faces the same problem. When you need 10-12 play drives to score, something is bound to break down (see Yellow Jacket fumbles.) The flexbone is a big play offense, but Bud Foster has done a magnificent job at making GT take 3-5 yards rather than popping big plays.

The biggest problem with VT is the wide receiver group. If they had a legitimate deep threat, everything about this offense would look 100 times better right now. Stanford is a decent possession guy. Coles... well he is a big body but you can tell he just isn't confident cutting and as result his route running isn't great. Basically, he has to shield the defender with his body or be wide open. Knowles regressed against Marshall. Byrn almost cost them the game with an awful route on the game winning touchdown.

A deep threat would make play action 100 times more dangerous and it would open up the running game. Right now, defenses are only needing to defend the 15 yards closest to the line of scrimmage, and that really hampers the run game.

I know folks are frustrated with Logan, but even though there are still those "oh no" decisions, every other facet of his passing game has improved. He was looking off receivers. His accuracy has been better (not great, better). He is making progressions and not locking on as often. He just doesn't have the guys getting open down the field. Stanford is the best at it, and ultimately he will be the number 1 receiver this season.

Hokies get the points and win. (Side prediction - No GT player will punch LT's helmet because it's made of stone.)
LSU gets the points and wins.
Domers win outright. (People who say the Hokies have been overrated have not been watching Oklahoma.)
Ole Miss gets the points and keeps it VERY interesting.
UDub puts it on the Devils in a big way.
Whiskey puts the Buckeyes to sleep and gets the points, but the OSU gets the squeaky win.

It's tricky..you see, the VSR4 is discontinued because there are safer and better products on the market. The NFL can't really fund that since they would be funding a digression in safety. They only thing they can and should do is force all players to wear current model helmets. Toyota wouldn't let you drive a recalled prius, would they? You would lose the lawsuit if you willingly and knowledgeably drove a recalled car?

But clearly, this makes far too much sense and thus, it won't happen.

I work in a technical field and the vast majority of information presented on 'lay' sites, while not inaccurate, is not groundbreaking.
I would suggest that French's gift is to take the complex and simplify and communicate it to the uninitiated.
I have tried to listen to one of Foster's presentations to fellow coaches and I honestly got lost about 30 seconds into it. I'd imagine his understanding of what he does is WAAAYY beyond what is presented.
I'm pretty sure there is little for a college level coach to glean from TKP.....not dissing, just stating.
BUT, it makes the game so much more enjoyable to watch, and appreciate at a base level the complexities and the in-game adjustments.

Watching Foster vs P Johnson is like watching a chess match between two masters.

You might not be able to do that. I tried to make my own beat bama/become god shirt with Morgan Freeman on it and they called me saying the only way they could make it is if I got permission from Morgan Freeman.

Haha yea that's my bad, it was merely a comment. If it's a reprimand of anyone, it would be of the NFL.

Apologies for the Matt Damon moment.

Matt Damon!
