When I've been there, it hasn't been bad. Lots of trash talking, but nothing physical. However, in more recent years, they've come to taking the rivalry a bit more seriously, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've devolved into a WVU type frothing at the mouth of a fan base.
I love the Hokies more than some of my family members, but you gotta admit...the Stone Age comment is pretty funny.
Bribery of refs? I guess we're paying them to make major calls against us in important games so that we lose momentum, lose bowl games, and lose our minds, because hey...losing is big money!
Oh, maybe it's a big damn conspiracy that we're not fully together on offense, too. All the coaches bet on the under with the crappy odds, and then do just enough to win, but not enough to beat the spread so that they rake in the dough!
It's like they haven't watched any VT games the past decade or so.
"EDDIE ROYAL IS WIDE OPEN!! TOUCHDOWN VIRGINIA TECH!!!" - I nearly passed out that game in the stands. So much adrenaline rushing through our systems at the end that we had to tag out screaming and yelling.

It's thinly veiled. I don't fault them for it, necessarily, because they're a company and they're trying to make money. It's just sad how many people buy into the "ESPN is the be-all-end-all of sports knowledge." Coverage and variety to watch? Yep, ESPN wins hands down. Analysis and thoughtful commentary? I'll take TKP :)
ESPN is in the journalism business as much as the big cable news networks. They care more about how many people they can get tuned in than being unbiased. Hell, they'll warp stuff into a bias if it gets them 2% more viewers.

And this is why I come to this site. These are things I don't understand so thanks for the clarification French. I just thought we showed it and then held onto it because we didn't want to show it again, not that it would have been ineffective against the other team's D. What a novel idea to consider what's happening on the opposite side of the ball in order to plan what you will do...

If ESPN wants to be taken seriously in journalism (very questionable), then they're doing a poor job of being unbiased. I know, and I take part in that too, to some extent. Just thought I'd point that out, because it was mentioned a couple times in the other "noon games" thread and every time it was brought up, people seemed genuinely surprised that the AD had nothing to do with it.
