Especially when you have Edmunds and Mangus who have already taken long runs to the house. I can't wait until GT underestimates Edmunds and he pounds them until LT3 nails them with a play action TD like he did with Coles.
That's a really good point and something I hadn't considered a lot before. Admittedly, not many linebackers will be tall enough to look down on LT3 (tic). Plus, even gesturing towards the running back will make most defensive players hesitate just a little, which is often all you need to hit a seam route or a TE to the outside.
My buddy and I were sitting there waiting for the bootleg all game, but we were disappointed. :(
But yeah, as discussed above, I think Loeffler might be trying to give the ACC (and GT especially, as they'll be seeing us on a short week) as little film as possible of his counters and bootlegs off of the interior running game.
Did you see our 2 minute offense against Boise? It was 4 WR deep, RMFW out of the backfield in the flat, and oh-dear-Lord-Tyrod-please-do-something. Literally the same exact thing I do in pickup or intramural games.
Cut your 2nd string punter and a backup WR, bring in Danny Coale and you get two for the price of one!
Versatile - for real.. I mean, did you see him punt?
Hahahahahaha. Okay, there are exceptions, lol! THAT was funny.
Could have been a plot to keep defensive coordinators thinking. We have thrown so many different offensive formations out in the past 3 weeks and what else have we not seen may come Saturday. I believe this will help us come conference play.
Watched the 10- minute video of the final 1:44 of that game since it was in related videos. I still get chills.
...the coaches were either committed to a single read then run passing game, or a scramble, hold on to the ball, and break open.
In other words, backyard football.
eh, I know everyone hates the Patriots, but thats his best bet for multiple reasons (and no, not just some Wes Welker comparison).
1) They have no receivers that are capable of holding on to the ball
2) Coale isnt overly physical, but with Brady's passing and the overall game plan, he wouldnt need to be
3) Belichick loves versatile players and CONSISTENT players. Both those words describe Coale quite well

Good memories of the Hail Tyrod
And Marcus...
Let's face it. They already do.

The NFL is a wired deal. Many players who got drafted (the Boz, Eric Coach, etc etc) who never should have been and many who weren't who may have been great if given the chance. Coale, regardless of what happens in football, will no doubt be a huge success in life. That's who he is, and that's why we love him. Go Hokies, Go Danny!
Hokie Bird said we only lost by about 100 votes. When considering how many votes were probably cast it sucks to lose by so little. 100 votes is one freaking picture
Favorite tailgate dish...eating Spartan Cheerleaders. Anyone got a picture of that?
He's still reps VT hard even after all the crap hurled his way. He's still better than Grant Noel.
One other point.
After all that success against the Catamounts...
NO BOOTLEG NO BOOTLEG NO BOOTLEG NO BOOTLEG NO BOOTLEG.
It drove me nuts, especially with the linebackers paying zero attention to the edge.
I can't believe we lost to ECU. Pee Dee the F-ing Pirate? I hate to lose, regardless of the event. If a Hokie is called out, we must rise to the occasion. VOTE, and spread the word!
He also has the school record for highest completions with a minimum of 500 pass attempts (58.8%)

No matter what team that applies to (except us), and especially UVa, it continues to be hilarious and a classic. Hats off to who ever first came up with it.
It will NEVER happen, but I would love to see Boykin and Coale reunited in Green Bay. Rodgers could work some serious magic with those two. (Not disregarding Jones, Nelson, or Cobb, just sayin.)

I disagree with a play action being successful merely because a fake is believable. For one, you still have to make the throw accurately, something that you can't take for granted with streaky Logan Thomas. Secondly, the receiver still has to make the catch, something that you can't take for granted with Tech's streaky receiver corp.
And most importantly, defensive coordinators get paid too. If every 4th and short a team runs a play action, you can be guaranteed that by the end of the season defenses will be swarming that play call. Imagine what Foster would do to a team that ALWAYS play faked on 4th and short.
