Better than Sean Glennon...
Yep, Theory of Org, and an awesome class it was. He has his class over for pizza every semester. Torg's house is basically a mini-VT museum. There's so much Hokie memorabilia everywhere it's quite the sight, not to mention the view from his back porch. Breathtaking.
He leaned and hit that extra gear. As soon as that guy missed it was endzone the whole way for him.
I agree with what (I believe) French has said a few times here: Thomas isn't as natural at quarterback as a guy like Vick or Tyrod (I edited that a bit to fit my own personal view, but whatevs). He also doesn't have the insane athletic ability to 3rd and 31 it whenever crap breaks down. Knowing that, and the fact that he's had 6 months of competent QB coaching in 5 years, makes me less than surprised that his season isn't starting off too hot. I know exactly what you mean with the different feelings between QBs, cause I feel it too. That said, I've been getting more and more of a Tyrod feeling than a 2012 LT feeling from Thomas this year. Have the numbers backed that up yet? Nope. But I'm seeing improvement and, if his receivers can step up a bit (let's face it, Coale and Boykin bailed out Tyrod a few times too), I think we'll start seeing more and more big plays with a drastic reduction in negative ones.
And this type of thinking is why the atmosphere is getting worse and worse. If everyone else is doing it, its okay to leave. You can play cornhole and drink and do all sorts of tailgate type things the other 359 days of the year. The second teamers work just as hard and put in just as much time and effort into the game as the first teamers. They deserve just as much support as the guys that start the game. Anyone can be a fan and support their team when the game is close and everything is super exciting. Literally anyone. But being a Hokie fan is supposed to be more than that. That type of mentality wasn't what got Lane listed as one of the toughest places to play. Don't believe me? Look at the highlights from the Syracuse game in 99. Final score of 62-0. It's one of the biggest blowouts VT has ever had. Yet the stands were full, and people were still yelling loud even as the fourth quarter expired and the game had long been decided.
I haven' rewatched the game yet, but with the few replays I saw, I just really did not like that second INT Logan had. I'm ok with him throwing that ball, but not to Knowles. Knowles is fast, but he is hardly a playmaker and he is very average height for a WR. If you're throwing that back shoulder to the end zone, it HAS to be to a more physical receiver.
anybody notice the jar of moonshine in his basement? I asked him about it and he told me they used to use moonshine to lure recruits....but they're not allowed to do that anymore.
Theory of Org?
What an awesome class. After he had us over for pizza the first time, his road is beautiful, I would go out and park near his house and study and stuff. My favorite spot in Blacksburg is off his road, looking down over the valley.
Some people are going to leave games early. Maybe they have somewhere else to be and were cutting things close, maybe they had to take their overly drunk friend home. During the 2011 Miami game I didn't see too many people leave. About the only person I noticed that left was the trash talking Miami fan.
The only "real" games that I remember any sort of exodus were the homecoming games. Guessing people were just there for the homecoming court winners. For the most part if the game is competitive and not a blow out Lane is probably at least at 90% capacity by the fourth quarter. The quality of the opponent does matter more than anything else. People are going to stick around for a rivalry game much longer than a Duke blowout, because the game gets less exciting and the atmosphere dies down.
Win games, rankings follow....as for now, they don't mean diddlysquat. The only one that will matter is the one after the ACC championship game.
How did this get a downvote?
Everyone's argument will always be that they have something better to do. I've left plenty of games early, but that's also because we were dishing out a curb stomping. Would I say that hanging out with my friends and tailgating is better than watching our second teamers in a half-filled stadium? Yes, I would. And I'm not a bad fan; I just have more fun playing cornhole and goofing around then studying our backups.
In my opinion, the true "ok" time to leave a game is when you stop getting excited over individual plays. When a defensive stop on third down merely yeilds a "meh", then it's probably ok to go.
Completely agree. But you didn't make that belief evident in your original post, hence why I replied with some sarcasm. I'm all for having 100% natural fan noise over any speaker generated noise. Lane is still one of the few stadiums remaining that dont have to tell the fans through the use of images or noise to get loud. I'd love for it to remain that way, but with the way the fanbase (especially students) is headed, it doesn't look like the trend will continue much longer, especially with the possibilities of the new sound system.
ESPN is the MTV of sports. I wonder if in 10 years their relevancy will be the same.

My heart broke last night for DW. Even as a Redskins fan I root harder for no other indiviual player, with the exception of maybe Tyrod, as I do Wilson. But with that said, he has go to stop fumbling.
But beyone that, he looked extremely timid and really had only one decent run that I can remember where he burst through the line and into the secondary. He has to be more aggressive. Also, his blocking was pretty bad. All these things lose you a starting spot quick.
I'd like to think that the Giants are invested enough in him that they give him another chance but with bringing in Jacobs and McGahee for workouts I'm worried. I heard they even scheduled the workouts on Friday which to me indicates that they weren't confident in DW to begin with and now he only confirmed their fears.
Agreed on not redshirting Teller. I was surprised to not see him out there on Saturday. And I think he's our starting LT in 2014.
I have Garcon too. Hopefully he can redeem David.
Just my opinion, but we really need to stop hating on ESPN on here.
They are a business and they do what they have to to make money. They cover teams that people care about on a national stage. (Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys, Alabama, etc.) That's how they make money and stay as popular as they are. Don't hate on them for being a VERY successful business.
If you are looking for VT coverage look here (French, Mason, and Joe may be the best there are), or TSL, or Andy Bitter, or Mike Barber.....need I go on?
If you want ACC coverage, HD posts news links to outside sorces every day around noon. Go to her blog (I know you don't want to give her the page views but still) and check them out.
If you want coverage of another team just google "*Insert Team Here* News/Blogs/Forums/Message Boards" and you will find all you could ever want to know.
ESPN, believe it or not, does have respect for us. They respect what Beamer has built here and rave about Lane Stadium and our atmosphere. The reason we don't get the airtime is because at the moment, we aren't relavnt on the national stage. When we are it will pick up again.
The more I watch Miami play, the more I just don't know what to expect for when we play them. If we were to play tomorrow, we would be matched strength on strength with our D vs their O and their horrid D vs our less than refined O. My gut says that we would win that matchup because of our running game because UF shut Miami down while Driskel handed the game to the Canes. With this game being in November, I sure as hell hope our offense is clicking by then and their defense is still struggling.
Henne is the backup to Blaine Gabbert in Jacksonville right now. He may end up being named the starter because Gabbert is atrocious.
I thought FAU was able to get a lot of pressure with just 3- and 4-man pressures. I feel like our d-line should really whoop up on ECU's front-five.
Except it does happen in conference play. At least among students. There were people leaving at the end of the first quarter of the Duke game last year. People left the Georgia Tech game early last year as well stating they had early class. (I had an 8am too, who cares). Hell, I saw people leaving the Miami game in 2011 at halftime when we were up 21-3 or whatever it was. This isn't just an FCS or weak opponent phenomenon. That's why people are already pointing out the issue. It happens at all games. Maybe not the max exodus that it is happening against weaker teams, but it's still happening. And its becoming more and more rampant. Hell, even 4 years ago the fans managed to hang around for the CMU blowout and the second half of ECU. And that was AFTER the JMU debacle. Those teams are similar to the Duke's and the Marshalls, etc, yet the students were still sticking around.
First off, rankings do not matter to us at all this season. We are not going to be in national title contention and realistically unless you're #1 or #2 at the end of the year, it doesn't mean diddly what you are ranked.
We have no business being ranked this week. If I were a voter, I would look at a game against an FCS team as essentially a bye week for a team unless they lose or keep it closer than it should be. We were supposed to blow these guys away and we did, no news there.
We need to show people over the next two weeks that we are much better than a solid mid-major team. If we can do that and some things fall our way with other teams losing, then maybe we get ranked. I think we need to win out through at least GT for it to be a real chance though.
Miami shot up to #15 this week and good for them. It looks good for the ACC to have another ranked team up there. They are good this year but they are not "back" yet. To me, they still have to win the ACC for anyone to take that program as a serious title contender again.
But yeah, to reiterate, it doesn't matter, especially this early in the year. As long as we play to our potential, we'll be in the running for the Coastal and possibly another ACC title.

I feel like there is someone just going to random threads and downvoting stuff. Too many new members that think this is like reddit or something and just downvote for the heck of it. It's not like anyone is calling anyone an asshat on this thread or anything.
