Regarding London's statement, you could insert WCU's head coach and that statement would still be applicable. Is he equating UVa's program with one that simply provides an opportunity for good teams to come in and play? Weak.
After reading that entire article, where exactly is the positive? He said it was good that the offense took what the defense gave them. So essentially he's happy that the coaches did what they're supposed to do? I don't get it.
No I think Tech will have to win the next 3 games to be ranked realistically and maybe UNC too.
Everyone is coming around (slowly) to the realization that the Bama game was an amazing performance by our D and we were literally 3 busted plays away from keeping that game at 14-10. Despite the score, I agree that we played Bama very close.
I don't think Bonner is overrated or underrated. I think he's properly rated. He's a solid player who's improving, and can occasionally have a helluva game like he did yesterday.
Greatest improvement from new offense: Drives didn't stall in the red zone... I'll take it!
I just looked at a few ACC teams' schedules and realized that the Coastal race will be a lot clearer on the night of October 5th. UNC-GT play on 9/21, Miami-GT play on 10/5, and we will have played both GT (9/26) and UNC (10/5).
This might be the one year that we're happy to have BC as our cross-division opponent while Miami has to go to Tallahassee.
is getting beat by 25 playing a team close?
And, per Jerry Ratcliffe, UVa fans should be encouraged.
i was there. i've only been to vt games over there before and it was a very laid back atmosphere. the tailgate was mellow, there were people cooking and drinking and playing corn hole but no hooting and hollering, hardly any music bumping, nobody driving through yelling go hoos or whatever, a very relaxing parking lot scene. i was wearing my horse on a treadmill shirt and an oregon hat (thats right) and one of my buddies was wearing a vt hat and we had maybe two or three things said to us all day about it, i guess rivalries are for the "jockular."
inside the stadium there was an impressive oregon turnout. they cheer, and dress, more like we do. there were jackasses rooting for booth teams near us but the hoos got next level shitty. there was a group of hoos seriously being loud and confrontational to a group of ducks in the next section. when the game got out of hand the hoos started to quiet down and the duck fans were returning the fire the heard early on. one of the hoos went and got a security person and a cop(!) and other hoos were all "we're just trying to watch the game and they wont leave us alone." the ducks got kicked out. it was a pussy move to start a shit talking session then go grab a cop when you can dish it out but cant take it.
most confusingly was the wahoo who after i guess got tired of flipping off the oregon fans started giving out hitler salutes (i shit you not). when another hoo called him out for that they turned on each other and there was a lot of "you're not a real fan! i'm a real fan!" nobody went and got him kicked out though.
i'd say the hoos got what i would call fairly loud on probably 3 or 4 plays and those were all in the first 20 minutes of the game. i barely noticed their band. they actually had a thing on the jumbotron called "hoos not paying attention?" the camera found people in the crowd who were playing with their phone or whatever and a clock timed how long before they noticed they were on screen. it was insane. they know their fans suck and they made a game out of it on the jumbotron. wow just wow.
but yeah i wouldnt disparage the whole not selling wcu when our rivals cant even sell out when the number 2 team in the country rolls into town.
My son asked me this question on the walk back to the parking lot after the game, and I reached a similar conclusion. I think that we end up sliding into the top 25 after the Georgia Tech game.
I am very much looking forward to the next 5 games, as we have a legit shot to win all of them but each opponent could make things interesting. ECU has a very explosive offense, we are the big OOC game for Marshall this year, Georgia Tech has to be wanting payback after we broke their hearts on Labor Day, and we have to want revenge after the embarrassing performances against UNC and Pitt.
Find a way to win all these games, we will be 6-1 heading into our bye week and potentially ranked as high as 20. And, more importantly, we will be in the driver's seat for a trip to Charlotte in December.
This video is getting shared around Facebook:
Seems pretty loud, and they're playing Sandman into the lyrics for the first time in many years, so that's nice. I wish the camera work was better and focused more on the scoreboard a bit, but I understand what they were going for here. Hopefully others will post their own videos that give those of us who couldn't be there a better sense of it.
Definitely. Despite the talk of our ridiculous D, I am worried that if the O cannot sustain drives, eventually both teams could present problems for us if the D gets tired.

I actually think if we start as slow as we did yesterday, marshall could hurt us with our inept offense. They are not an easy pushover like most think. And ECU has always played us good
I don't think we'll be ranked unless the following things all happen:
1. Solid wins against ECU and Marshall (not as easy as some would say)
2. Win a few ACC games, including UNC
Then, we might be in contention for something in the 20's. Until then, I expect no love from the pollsters. Given the kinks we still have to work out, there is no reason to expect to be ranked now just because we managed to beat one of the worst teams in the FCS. Having said that (I hate calling teams "the worst"), their QB looks pretty good and could develop into a pretty solid dual threat.
The only reason I venture over the ESPN any more is because they keep decent stats. Their coverage and analysis suck. The only coverage of VT is to say that we have a lot of uncertainties and to link to Andy Bitter, who does real reporting. French and Mason's analysis puts all of ESPN to shame and I can read Andy's stuff here without giving ESPN the page views. People only turn to them because they have been at the forefront of most major sports for a long time. I hope other networks, like Fox Sports 1, start to really challenge them.

Heather Dinch: "Miami/FSU is back!" until they lose and then its "The ACC Sucks" thats all you need to know about the ESPN Blog
I asked on of my friends that goes to UVA about it and he said "I don't think most of our school knows we have a football team."
None ever put the word "winning" near "dynasty" in any of those statements...
Does that mean UVA > BYU > Texas?....Does Mike London know? He could use this for recruiting (Side note how long does Mac Brown last at Texas if he keeps losing to teams he should not?)
It should be when Miami heads to Blacksburg. Stupid schedule makers.
My seats are in the top row of NEZ right over the tunnel (near an entrance). When I saw people leaving I started screaming at them "The game isn't even over, where are you going?! You should go to UVA, their fans leave at halftime!" And other things along that line. You don't need to be as diehard as me to at least stay until friggin halftime.
Also, I lost my voice for the second game in a row, and I plan to do it again while watching on TV next week. It's gonna be a good senior year.

In the end, that's the death knell for London:
If you can't put fans in the seats, even for a #2 exciting Oregon team, then its hard to justify the coach, product.
Money, or lack of, talks.
