That...is...awesome. Kinda feel sorry for the QB. He must have pissed off that right tackle in homeroom one day.
I was just going to write this. Texas A&M is not as good of a team as they were last year and I would be utterly shocked if Manziel played as well this year. Not only does he strike me as someone who would spend his free time doing anything but studying film, but you can bet that every player wants his head after all the stunts he's pulled this summer. I know if I was a player and somebody thought they were above the law, I'd sure wanna put him in his place.

Yea, even with the two special team blunders, I think that interception return was the biggest game changer. Our D was ridiculously energized after that run by Edmunds and who knows how long that could have kept them going had the pic six not happened...
I do think that bama/michigan/nd/texas fans gave up on their teams when the going got rough but i completely agree with you that just makes us better fans than them right?!?!
I'm so excited for our D this year
when saying this about the other teams fans i mean the fairweather fans who only like a team because its good but we hokies never do that through thick and thin we'll root for our team
The fact that we lost the game is heartbreaking, not only because it was a chance to prove everyone wrong and take down the number 1 team, but because of how we lost it. I never would have thought we would give up a TD on special teams, and then we end up giving up 2! Plus another non-offensive TD. Yes, that sucks. But because that IS how we lost, I can still take away positives. If we were to lose, I expected it by just getting worn down on defense. The fact that it took 3 non-offensive touchdowns for the number 1 team to beat us is nothing to celebrate about, but something to notice. That "high powered" offense barely recorded over 200 total yards of offense and only scored when starting with less than 50 yards to go. I take away that the o-line and running game did better than I expected it would, the passing game and special teams did a lot worse than I expected, and the defense soared all expectations.
So yes, some major concerns about our WR's. I think we will improve though and get special teams fixed. Yet, a lot of positives can be taken away from our o-line, running back, and defense at least from what we have seen thus far. That leaves me optimistic for this season and not as disappointed as a loss would normally leave me.
I know they had a lot of folks out for the game, and they weren't taking it seriously, Rice was a senior heavy team with lots of experience, yadda, yadda, yadda according to the talking heads, but aTm did not impress me last week. Think y'all will run all over them. Their 'O' finally got rolling midway through the second quarter, but can absolutely get inside Johnny's head and throw off his game. Stuff him a few times and he'll fall apart.
If he took a medical redshirt he'd just be a year older before he reached the NFL. He's going after this season no matter what. Someone will draft him unless his knee is jello.
He can't because he has already redshirted
#overoptimism? haha
Obviously this guy knows more than me, but don't treat this as ground truth either. There are a few plays that could be interpreted differently.
1. That ball was thrown behind Coles. He should catch it, but LT throws the ball with some zip and when you're just getting out of your break, that ball has to be thrown on the money.
6. Definitely a drop by Knowles, but he was not open either. It has already become apparent that our receivers were just not getting any separation.
7. Absolutely pathetic drop from Knowles, but again that pass was thrown behind him. He has to break stride to catch that ball. I also don't know if that first down would have been a guarantee either.
8. Coles was open when this play began. However, my guess is that he was expecting it immediately and when Logan hesitated, Coles stopped. He obviously should not do that, but Logan should never have thrown that pass either. Also, only 5 people blitzed, and the OL + Edmunds looked to be holding up fine.
10. I would have preferred he throw it to someone else, but I understand throwing that pass low. Logan's footwork leads A LOT to be desired on this play, though.
-There's a read option in between his next throws that LT should not have kept. Edmunds would have had a step on the LB going to the outside and there was miles of space out there.
-There are a few plays after the INT that I didn't like. First, LT should not be running the option. He's either going to get hurt or set up a player to get whacked. Both time that we ran the option this game we looked awful. Second, that delay of game penalty is just absolutely inexcusable. I know we only had one timeout left, but you just cannot take a penalty like that on 3rd down at your opponent's 20 yard line.
13. That dude gets beat quickly, but again LT shows poor pocket presence and makes an awful decision to throw that ball. Either step up or take the sack. Regardless of Knowles letting up, that route was completely covered up.
15. I will agree that Logan had nowhere to go on this play, but the criticism for Coles being scared going over the middle is completely unwarranted. And wtf was going on with the bizarre read option the play before.
16. Quick pressure, but Logan should be able to step up in the pocket and avoid the pressure. The check down in the flats was also WIDE OPEN.
22-23. There is a throwing play between these two throws that was ignored. It was a pretty poor pass over the middle to Stanford.
Everything else he wrote I completely agree with. A few more quick things I noticed since I just basically rewatched the whole game.
-Holy crap our defense is good. Half the time when our drive would end, you could fast forward 30 seconds and Bama would be punting already. That is just spectacular.
-Our special teams did look very bad. Our returners never had any lanes to run through and our coverage was obviously unsatisfactory. Since Bama has 4 star players playing special teams, though, you got to expect there to be some disparity here.
-I love how quickly Edmunds accelerates. Once he gets to the line, there is no chance that he gets stood up.
It's very clear that Fuller was playing last year hurt. He was a BEAST on Saturday. Like everyone's been saying, it's a good problem to have, but it might kind of tough for Foster to make that call.
This has been remedied. My sincerest apologies.
I have time on Friday afternoons as well. I can do the same thing with recruiting some of my friends to play.
You are the weakest link. Goodbye.
I.nearly jumped through the ceiling when he made that incredible deflection (first picture of this post). Holy shit he got up there.
It's sexual and violent.
I make my class schedule, so that I have Fridays to play sports in the afternoon, I don't know if a time was ever set, but I'd be up for doing it then. I could also see if my non-TKP friends who are more athletic than me want to play too.
Sometimes I wonder if it would be better if Exum took a medical RS this year and came back full strength next year. It would only improve his draft stock.
I don't think it's a guarantee Exum is back and at full strength this year.
Exum, Jarrett, Ky Fuller, and Ke Fuller all need to be on the field at once. Whether its Ky or Ke moving to Whip, or Exum goes back to a safety position and Bonner is the odd man out (nothing against Bonner). Exum has played the safety position before. Just my opinion. I will trust how ever Bud handles it for i am no expert.
Regardless with his injury it will take Exum a little bit to get back up to speed so he needs to be slowly molded back into the lineup. Would hate to see him rushed and end his career and potential nfl career
I'm just imagining 5 identical, freakishlyathletic giants, hands on their knees, all gasping for breath after pregame warm ups. He's a special player, but honestly, the Clowney from the UNC game would have been the weakest link on our defenensive line on Saturday.
Haha. I was hoping some people would tell me they saw us.

I'm scared to think about this defense when Bud leaves/retires. We truly won't know what he have until it's gone.
