That play is where the moral victory was won. After this, I didn't even care what the final score was. It wasn't just Edmunds. Every player showed what a Hokie is for the 1st 2 seconds after the snap. Trey couldn't have done it without the guys around him stepping up. Even though Redman got pancaked, without that brief contact, the play would have been stopped at the line of scrimmage.
I was freaking pumped after this play.
It's because they don't understand our fans are ready to go in the game and play if needed! You can't do that it in a suit and tie or button up shirt.

The receivers did seem to be able to get open, and Knowles proved he can get behind elite DBs readily. They just need softer hands, and to play more aggressively.
Did you ask her if they had any plans for more kids?
Right now, looks like the only two games I can make this season are North Carolina and #LOLUVa
Fun as hell, no regrets.
We were in section 134 on the end, and after Kyle Fuller had gotten shaken up a bit near the end of the 2nd quarter Momma Fuller came down to our section seeing if she could find out if Kyle was okay. She lost the rest of her fam, and sat with us for a while trying to pick them out of the crowd. Very nice lady and everyone was patting her on the back and telling her that her boys were doing an awesome job.
Also of note, while trying to dash and grab a beer before they stopped serving at halftime, I ran into the whole Edmunds family.
The other Edmunds kids are huge. I'm excited for their futures as Hokies.
I'm delighted he was sacked only once the whole game. That shows improved decision-making.
Yes! I did, good catch. I should have said Depth At DL At VT. I was victimized by the DT/VT alliteration
I am new to 247 but from posts he seems to be a respected football analyst especially when it comes to the offensive side of the ball. Apparently did a write-up on the OL last year.
I had a pretty good experience with the Bama fans. Talked to a couple in line to the Bud Light tailgate that were nice. A couple after the game even said Roll Hokies. You could tell the ones who actually knew football respected us and knew they were lucky to have those special team plays and the pic six.
Damn I didn't expect this post to piss so many people off! Sorry if I seem likemim throwing the season away but if you read the post I still said I hope we can run the table and go 11-1 and make it to BCS bowl. I think it's possible, our offense and special teams have a lot of work to do before that happens. My point is that I'm sick of not winning these big time games. It gets frustrating over the years. ESP with most of those games being winnable, one or two times were we just outplayed but the majority were close games that we could have won. I think this translates directly into recruiting wether you believe all that 5 star stuff or not talent gives you a damn good chance of winning. Look at clowney, that kid is a monster! Not saying our defense needs any help because we have our own monsters, but you get my point.
My other point I'm Trying to make is this, I believe the outcome of these games even last night would have been different if coach Beamer had he mentality of jack Tyler and James gayle. Beamer said all summer that this is the best team he's ever faced, Tyler and gayle said yea they are good but we are on scholarship too. Nit saying bama isn't a great team but in my eyes it doesn't make the loss any easier. My personal opinion on that. I just wanted to hear Beamer say hey you know what bama is good but we are a damn good football team too. That's all.
Third point on this matter, bama, lsu, ohio state don't seem to keep having the same issues that we have had for years now. We have fielded so,e damn talented teams on both sides of the ball and we don't have much to show for it. A bunch of ACC champs and one BCS bowl win. And we have had many chances to change that but we came up short. All I am saying is I want more for our team and I know we can do it because we have shown the glimpse of greatness at times but we can never seem to put together a complete season. I really hope that our new offense changes all of this I really do, it just sucks coming out flat once again. Here's to us righting the ship and becoming the vt football of old!
Go Pack Go!
I saw Trimble get off a block and make a great play on the back (I think Yeldon) for a 3 yard loss. He looks dependable.
Loeffler hated how much Logan had to tuck and run last year. It can be effective, but I think Loeffler is also very worried about injury if our attitude is just, "forget it, he'll make it happen by barreling into guys."
There was a man in front of me at the game who was an Alabama fan whose face was so red the entire game from screaming much longer than the rest. I can only imagine what his blood pressure was. He then proceeded to yell, "Beamerball! What's a Hokie?" Other than him being annoying, the rest of the Alabama fans were very generous. We sat in 349 and we left a lot of the Bama fans made sure to tell us that they were pulling for a great team in the ACC. Oh, and an Alabama fan at the concession stand admitted that if it weren't for silly mistakes, we would be beating them and that our defense was shutting McCarron and Yeldon down.
But I was 1 of 4 Hokies in our section. I screamed, jumped, operated my own "let's go...." chant, and much more.
It was a good game. I'm one proud Hokie.
So if we want the best 11 defenders on the field, we have to look where our weaknesses are. Bonner and Jarrett are fine at safety, especially after the way Kyshoen played vs Bama. WHIP is our only low point, even though I didn't notice any dropoff with Trimble and DiNardo. The last thing you want to do is move a playmaking senior to another position, so I think Kyle and Tone stay at corner. Kendall played outstanding at corner, as did Facyson, but Kendall also got a bit of work at WHIP in August. If you're going to move anybody, it's Kendall to WHIP in the nickel package, but he doesn't have the size to start there. Unfortunately I think Facyson is going to the #4 corner spot once Exum returns to full strength. He's great, but he'll be the 4th-best corner we have.
Ordered a Boykin jersey. Hopefully he remains with the Pack for awhile!
No, we don't want to get away from this. This was textbook blocking. I'm sure french will address this as "why this play worked and why it will pay dividens later." BTW did you notice how Miller exploded to engage the boundry side ILB- awesome!
I'm ok with the throwaways. WAAAY too often in years past have I seen VT QBs (even senior Tyrod), try to run and end up running out of bounds behind the LOS. 2nd and 10 > 2nd and 11/12 every single time. Risk outweighs reward on most of those scrambles, IMO, and I'm willing to bet that's how Lefty has coached LT3.
Yeah this would have been great two years ago, but with just a few games left to play in his career I think Exum stays at corner
When we play some up tempo offenses like UNC and hopefuly Clempson (in ACC title game if we make it there), we'll need all the depth we can get and that's were Ke Fuller, Exum, Riley, Ky Fuller, Bonner, Jarret will be shuffling like crazy to keep fresh. Also, I'd like Exum's big body back in time for GT, too.
There was some cases where Thomas could have tucked (trucked) it and ran. I wish he would have done that more, but it comes down to decision making.
And it will make me happy for another 3 years at least.

I like Moorehead's response on twitter to a comment....
