He only allowed one pass. About a ten yard out route that he got turned around on.
I love JR Collins and Dadi Nicholas. But 5 Jadeveon Clowneys?
I'd have to think about that...

This is just awesome. Looks like he's throwing Lonnie Pryor into a hole. Dadi smash!!
Just wondering how many are to blame on the receivers and how much is on Logan throwing into coverage.
I had the same strange reaction. Normally after a loss I try to be philosophical and objective about it, but in reality I am depressed for several days afterwards. Yesterday, I was very nearly giddy! I read your post and was glad someone else felt the same way. I have been thinking about it, and I now realize that after last season I had developed a deep down fear that our best days were behind us. As a person of faith, you never want to give voice to your fears, but still--there was plenty of evidence that the Hokies were on the wane--destined for the fringes and the wannabes. After Saturday, I believe! Don't get me wrong--we have lots to work on--but between our dominant defense, the improved o-line, Trey's coming out, the intensity of the new coaches, etc., etc., I am pulling out the sunglasses again. My hope that our best is still ahead has been restored!
Definitely. In honor of one of my favorite Maroon Effects of all time:

Yes you do, Coach, and BeamerBall needs to be revived in a big way.
You guys were like 3 rows in front of where we were sitting!
Watching the replay. Looked like Logans got better pocket awareness then he did last year.
Agreed...The play calling looked good and we werent just running LT 3 up the middle and using screen pasess

paid access only but he had given permission to post on other websites
Desmond Frye was in for the injured Jarrett. Jarrett wouldn't have let that TD happen especially with the monster game he was having
Considering these guys have had 3+ years to catch balls from Logan (and they have), and I refuse to believe that Coale and Boykin had some super-human ability to catch Thomas's passes, I still think those throws are catchable. Not saying it's easy or anyone can do it, but based on their past performances and what is expected of them at this level, they need to hold on to at least the majority of those balls.
I think the next couple of weeks will tell us a lot. Can this team play effectively against WCU in terms of (1) finding an offensive rhythm and (2) not playing "down" to their opponent? Can they keep up with fast-paced teams like ECU and Marshall, and is the secondary as good as advertised in those situations? If we can succeed in these games and fix the mistakes that have been pointed out already, I think everyone's frustration level will decrease and we'll know a ton more about where this team stands going into all-important ACC play.
Clowney is probably going through the Junior Slump... JR and Gayle went through it last year. Hosley went through it. Kyle Fuller as well. Dadi looks immune, though...
Those WRs might have ended up just running back to Blacksburg.
I really don't think we'll see Caleb back at receiver any time soon. He was coming along too slowly to contribute this year and honestly probably would've done a lot of the more infuriating things (procedure penalties, wrong routes, lining up incorrectly, etc.) that we saw from the starters on Saturday. He's said repeatedly he feels more comfortable at RB, and the coaches have said he looks like a natural runner. Besides, we really need a big, athletic RB in case (God forbid) Edmunds gets hurt.
I think they need to take a page from remember the titans during practice: you drop a catchable ball, you run a mile
I get what you mean. I was just frustrated by how that aspect of the game (throwing the ball) turned out. I know we'll get better; I just hope it's in time for our big ACC games.
Please see the recently-posted breakdown of LT3's throws.
I didnt even notice that Brandon Facyson was in the game until i rewatched it. I am assuming that's a good thing because he had his man locked down the entire game? Really excited about him.
LIAR!! You didn't give me a turkey leg from this post:

(Still at 0)
And he's got a terrific football IQ. Bud says he only needs to be corrected once.
I will say this. I do not want to see all the read option to be Edmunds up the middle and LT to the outside all the time. LT is much more a threat of a runner up the middle (terrible laterally). I don't think we ran this version of the read option against Bama because we didn't have our best outside runner JC. Once he's back in the fold, I think you'll see both the pistol read option with Edmunds in the game and the standard shotgun (RB to the side of QB) read option when JC is in the game. Cue #TruckAndChuck.

Would take some time but it would be interesting to see how many starters were on each special team during the relevant "BeamerBall" days versus the past few years when they've not been so special!
