I look at like this...We didnt waste him last year
I definitely see where you're coming from and understand the frustration. However, regarding you're recruiting comments, I would not trade JR Collins or Dadi Nicholas for five Jadaveon Clowney's. For all the hype ESPN and other media outlets have given Clowney and all his physical gifts, he gave a piss-poor effort against UNC and was essentially a non-factor. Our guys showed up against the best team in the nation and ate their lunch.
Edit: Also, "A bunch of ACC championships" IS something to show for it. I know we all want that National Championship, but at the same time, we shouldn't belittle winning conference championships.
I am not too concerned...Leal or however comes in behind LT3 will have the advantage of a full year of working in Leoffer's (spelling) system/coaching....I am getting excited about the game in Columbus I may try to go now.
Kendall will get plenty of reps, especially when VT plays the pass-heavy Marshall, ECU, UNC, Duke. He'll probably be on the field quite a bit in passing situations against the balanced offensive teams as well: Miami, Pitt, Maryland and UVA. I think, because of the ability of Trimble, you will see a lot of shifting between Whip and Nickle defenses, perhaps flawlessly.
I really hope we come out on offense and throw it every down just so the WRs have to catch the ball for us to do something. We all know what Edmunds is capable of now so I could see Joel Caleb getting some reps at wide receiver.
he was running a "multiple" blocking scheme to go with our "multiple" offense...multiple = not enough time to practice doing things right / confusing players
I'm the guy with the shitty beard in the preceding shot. First time on ESPN!

It really helps when TOP is 30:45 - 29:15 (numbers were close to this).
I'm excited to see what Leal has to offer. I think he's going to be strong next year and give Ford or Bucky the chance to get their legs under them to step in the following year. I think there is a lot of promise at the QB spot for the future at VT
That's precisely my point. I feel like much hasn't been done to bring in elite recruits to help us out. I know we have mixed it up and all, and maybe I'm just impatient, but we are falling behind and I don't like it. I expect the 14' Hokies to be nasty and I know they will be w all our injured folks coming back and some good recruits coming in. I want to see that sense of urgency, time is running out and we don't play like the world is gonna end. That's how I see other teams play. Play like there is no tomorrow!
What really amazed me is that Bama only scored once the entire 2nd Half (though I don't think Saban would want to intentionally run up the score on Beamer, out of courtesy). Our defense really showed great conditioning this whole game.
i noticed linemen getting to the second level a lot. daddy like, daddy like
Ah yes, the "Brady Slide!"
because our defense good as it is cannot stay on the field the whole game.
We should at least keep our secondary on the field the whole game.
It's encouraging that there were receivers open on quite a few of the routes. If they catch the ball on half of the throws that were dropped, it's a very different ballgame, possibly a different result.
One semi-shocking moment I saw was when Logan took off on a sweep (third qtr., I think) got outside made a few yards and slid. Definitely a Loeffler taught moment, imo.
I think the major problem in comparing us to the Alabamas, LSUs, and OSUs of the college football world right now is recruiting. We've had a few down years, so quality depth is an issue. I think Beamer felt hesitant to risk starters on special teams in this game (although I disagree with this, I understand the reasoning; non-ACC game, lets save it for a league game). I think we probably don't see too many starters on special teams this week, but will beginning with the ECU game. Definitely for the ACC games.
Exactly. A 1-2 yard gain doesn't do much for us if Logan gets seriously hurt.
YEZZIR!
I'm not questioning his credibility, I just want to rub it in a friend's face who has been mercilessly critiquing Logan and I'd prefer to give him the original link.
Roc Carmichael got added to the Texans Practice Squad. Good for him!
I like Moorehead's response on twitter to a comment....
@ThetaJunkie: @Amo8685 we got faith in you Coach. The biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2, right? Better be!โ Aaron Moorehead (@Amo8685) September 2, 2013
That play is where the moral victory was won. After this, I didn't even care what the final score was. It wasn't just Edmunds. Every player showed what a Hokie is for the 1st 2 seconds after the snap. Trey couldn't have done it without the guys around him stepping up. Even though Redman got pancaked, without that brief contact, the play would have been stopped at the line of scrimmage.
I was freaking pumped after this play.

Well, when you've already gotten well past the first down, lowering the shoulder on a safety with the rest of the defense close behind doesn't do ya much good. Glad to see LT3 making a good decision there.
