dont sugar coat it...OUR DEFENSE WAS AMAZING LAST YEAR, I felt like I was watching da 86 bears or something they were flying to the ball and shutting down bama I know its early to say this but man this D could take us to a pretty special year, 1 game in against such a great offense and I'm willing to say this is one of the best college D's I've watched in a while, heres a good question though, is our D > bama's D? it played like it last night
Loved seeing Ke Fuller and Ky Fuller on the back of jerseys on the field at the same time. Also Facyson played lights out lockdown except for one play where he got turned around on an out route that the receiver made into a double move. And Trey Edmunds. Wow. What else can you say? Pushing piles of Bama defenders for 2-3 extra yards? Wow.
There isn't really any pro glennon stuff going on. What you said as pro glennon stuff is people not personally attacking a guy who is not affecting the program right now.
You never know, Weaver might try to auction them off in the next few weeks.
8 drops per the postgame pressers. Cut that number in 1/2 and you have AJ McCarron's numbers.
What i love about that defensive ranking is this: most teams played cupcakes abd fcs teams. We just played the #1 team in the nation.
Last 5 season opening losses ended with 2 Orange Bowls, 2 Sugar Bowls and a Chick-fil-A victory!— Beamer Ball (@Beamer_Ball) September 1, 2013
I have to take this with a grain of salt. Yes, I am optimistic about this team going forward, but this is kind of getting ahead of ourselves. There's plenty of room for improvement across the board, defense included, and thinking about a return to a bowl game need to be an end of season thing before we start thinking about it.
Same here. I told him they were gonna tear.up o lines all around the ACC.
Beat Clemson. Conference loyalty is for losers.
Strats are a workhorse.
I've got a Rick, but I mainly play bass.
I finally found mine.....I found a beat to crap 1966 Precision that plays like butter.

They had a handful of defensive starters thatwere suspended for that game. I agree they're not that good but just FYI.
Any back with the motor to out sprint bama secondary is a special back. Edmunds certainly proved that he is legit.
Every step of the way Luther
Rivals is H.O.A.T. approved. It will be reflected in the official record that it is the preferred recruitment service of all Hokies, TKP'ers, and Horses.
In a microwave society like ours, Information is shopped for instead of developed via research. People want to know who is the best player and they trust recruiting sites to do it for them. Do fans actually think that 24/7 sees every single player they rank, numerous times to develop a true sense of their potential?
Maddy thinks not...!
I by and large agree, but let's not forget DW4 was in the backfield in 2011. That doesn't really change the drops, but we were more well rounded back then. Looks like Trey is going to help out a lot here, it will be nice to get JC into space and I'm hoping Caleb will add a spark.
I agree fully with your statement. As an addendum, Scout has lost a lot of credibility and ESPN never had any to begin with. Both of those sites tend to rank players higher when they commit to a team that has a lot of subscribers for their premium content. Both have engineered their rankings to generally reflect the skill levels of the players, but the players get bumps based on the amount of cash their fan bases pump into the online ranking machine.
Rivals, at least, appears to have their hearts in the right place, and therefore are generally regarded pretty well. 247 has started the way of ESPN and Scout but are pretty good. But none of this should take away from your point that Rivals rankings, in the end, don't matter.
That's over-simplifying it. "Recruit some good offensive players". Do you know how hard it is to convince high school kids to come to your school? And this is just my opinion, I think we've had some damn good recruiting classes recently but they are either in prep school or the coaches don't think they're ready yet. As one of the sports writers said (can't remember which) this team is going to be stacked in the next couple years. He even thought we could make a return to the national elite within a few years. Losing to Alabama because of a few fluke special teams mistakes and a defensive touchdown is nothing to hang your head about. Also, I know you're complaining about lack of TDs from the offense, but we outgained one of last year's most potent offenses. I agree that we should have scored at least 14 (should've had 7 off the Kyle fuller INT) but we were installing a new system this season.
WE WILL BE FINE.
I had a great gameday experience. Most of the Bama fans I met were awesome.
I don't think anyone seriously thought that Tech could win the NC this year. Even if they went undefeated it wouldn't be a guarantee that they would make it to the NC.
No one on VT's front four is a 5*, yet they whipped ass all night long. Stop being hung on Rivals' ranking and look at the on field. Rivals and their ilk provide guidelines, not hard and fast rules.
Shocker
I believe I remember seeing at least 4 for DJ and 4 or 5 for knowles. At least. But to say Logan will never be great is like saying 2011 never happened. Given good receivers who caught the ball, Logan was an above average QB who analysts thought could compete as a dark horse heisman candidate. If he can get back there, which he can, he can be as good if not a better game manager than AJ. To quote you: "There is just not talking sense into some of you guys" who are hating on Logan.
EDIT: if DJ and knowles only dropped one each logan would have more confidence throwing, loeffler would have more confidence calling pass plays and the total would have been at least 18/26 (given the fact i chose not to increase attempts.)
I bet bama didn't have a 'walk on' on the bench much less the field.
We are getting some more love over there!

In a Miami fan and I was impressed with vt. I honestly thought we had the coastal on lock. They surprised me. Defense is great. Special teams killed them. We need to beat the gators this week and help the acc out. Go canes

What surprised me the most was the play of David Wang as the center. He was lousy as a guard but shone as a center. It makes me wonder what the hell Newsome was doing in Blacksburg for so long.
Shout out also to Laurence Gibson and McLaughlin who played outstanding football all night long.
