Its all going to come together in time, but we need to first get these next few wins strung together before we get too excited about a double digit win season. Nevertheless, plenty of positives from the game last night. I would have liked to seen logan make a few more plays night. Hope to see him really have some games here in the next few weeks against WCU, ECU, AND Marshall.
We are all entitled to our opinions so agree to disagree. As far as the devastating pick, if you watched the replay, DJ Coles literally stopped running and watched sunseri run by him. DJ wasn't necessarily the best guy to throw to but if DJ had run his route like a big boy, there would have been a 5 yard catch or an incomplete pass but not an interception. That accounts for at least 3-4 more incompletions. 17-26 is right about 67% completion.
I'd not take any game for granted. Some FCS team beat Kansas State last night, and someone else beat up Oregon State. And ESPN laced it with a reference to our JMU loss in 2010.

I didn't have any issues with the Alabama fans. Not a lot of trash talk after their win, respectful banter before. One shook my hand as I exited the stadium.
I sat in 301, and bought my tickets through HokieTickets. There were maybe a dozen Hokies in my entire section. The Alabama fans wore buying up our ticket allotment as a badge of honor. I understand less people want to pay to see a work in progress, but it was disappointing to see so few Hokies in the Dome.
i like the enthusiasm, but there's a ton of work to do.
As much as I'd love a game used one, they usually end up being outrageously expensive, which is cool when it goes to Herma's Readers or the WWP.
Although, if rumors are true and a Hokie stone Pro Combat is on the horizon...
I also have been thinking about something the lady at the Tech bookstore (a manager of some sort) said:
"When we spoke with Nike, they didn't mention anything about those jerseys, usually those are done for the players only"
To read an insane amount into it: does it mean more different jerseys? How long ago was this thought up?
13-26 is still not a very good game. AJ also threw a TD and did not throw an absolutely devastating pick 6 that cost us the game. You can turkey leg each other all you want, it doesn't hide the fact that even in 2011, Logan was still just a little above average. That season he played excellent one time, good 3-4 times, average 5-7 times, and bad 3-4 times. I'm not even going to bother with last season because that's all fresh in our memories. He was rated highly by analysts because they saw the raw ability and they expected him to improve. The one thing that is very clear now is that DW took a lot of the pressure off him in 2011. We also had some of the best WRs ever to play at this school. Now that LT is the focus, things are not as open for him and he is going to continue to struggle.
Didn't really talk to any bama fans inside the stadium, but went to The Varsity after at around 10 some Bama lady asked us if the game was over and then proceeded to ask us if VT won and then kind of snorted at us. Other than that not really any bad experiences other than that annoying Roll Tide shit.
Once we got back in the hotel, a Bama fan talked to us a little about how it was funny how much more optimistic VT fans were after the game and how unhappy the Bama fans were. Which makes since because that was not a National Championship quality team we played.

I'm anxious to see Miami and FSU. And even stupid Pitt for that matter. After last nights game, I feel like we are standing on the side of a line waving every other team on the planet towards us.

same here, i heard the typical "whats a hokie?" and whatnot but there was a bama couple sitting next to us in our mostly hokie section and they were really cool. we talked and drank with them the whole time. we were dapping up and heartily loling on the double boom being lowered on that punt return.
its funny, every neutral site game i've ever been to we've lost (although every true road game i've been to we won) and i'm always so pissed off. but i feel optimistic about this team. logan and the wrs' woes are fixable. those kick returns will get after you with that many freshman on the coverage teams.
can we beat clemson? not with that offense. could we beat clemson the first weekend in december after a season of experience in lefty's system? yup.
Let's get a couple of ACC wins under our belt before we go that far.
I disagree about Armani Cooper having nearly as many drops as it appeared watching the game last night. Many of those Kyle or Kendall were getting their hands on the ball. Still technically a drop, but not the same thing as Knowles or Coles who just flat out dropped passes. One of the long balls the announcers claimed that the defense knocked it away from Knowles, but he dropped in long before the defenders hand got near the ball. I don't mean to bag on those to as even at my best I couldn't hold a candle to either of them.

The offense will definitely need to improve we want any decent bowl. The defense will keep us in most games if it plays like that every week.
Yeah, especially on the punt. That gives them better field position. But at the same time, Logan needs to do a better job at clock management as well.
It makes me wonder what the hell Newsome was doing in Blacksburg for so long.
Easy, he was not reviewing film, not coaching up technique, and not holding players accountable enough.

This is a team that would have held and possibly won against Clemson and Georgia last night. This is a team that believes in themselves as a unit and we are reutilizing our talent. Hiring Loeffler, Grimey, an Vince Vaughn might be our most pivotal hires since CFB HIMSELF.

That first punt return Kendall had where Kyle through that block I got all giddy. Kendall got crushed by someone else, but I got all sorts of excited for the pair. Playing at such an elite level together must have been special.
And last year we thought Davis and co were not that great ... Do we have help coming in?
