Yeah you can't teach size. #optimistic

There is just no talking sense into some of you guys. It's ironic, because I'm sure plenty of you will criticize the Raiders for drafting fast players and then turn around and say LT will be a good NFL player because he is big and strong. First off, there were a handful of drops, NOT 13. You know who also had some drops? Armani Cooper, one of the best receivers in college football. Logan will get better by virtue of our competition getting weaker. But at this point, we need him to just manage games ala AJ McCarron as opposed to trying to win them.

I never really experimented with strings. When I found Super Slinky I stuck with it, and when I found Elixirs for the acoustic I never looked back. Makes my crappy Takamine sound superb. Haven't picked up a guitar in about a decade though.

Statistically our offense and defense are ranked higher than Alabama after that game haha. Obviously someone can do a more in depth analysis, but I just checked this out and thought it was funny.

Only there special teams out played us.

Total Offense
VT Off: #107
ALA Off: #112

Sacks
VT Def: #9
ALA Def: #57

I would agree a loss is never acceptable but this team showed potential against the #1 ranked team in the country. Bama has a roster full of five star kids- you don't win on talent alone but it sure is a good starting point.

I like our coaches and their message. The team played with great effort and pride. No doubt there were mistakes made but the D was stout and our young players will only improve.

I think that this Hokie team could 10+ games and the teams in the near future could be very very good.

Super Slinky FTW. My favorite set of strings, though D'Addario are nice, too. And there's nothing wrong with power chords - lots of people have achieved fame and fortune with a simple chord shape.

Yeah. This will go down as a great Hokie team, regardless.

And guess what. Next year we're going to take a lot of those same studs to Columbus.

Better win 14 this year, cause they're gonna drop one to us in the Big House.

Mine, too. 99 USA Strat with Lace Sensors (Neck/Gold, Middle/Blue, Bridge/Red). Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. Cranked through a Marshall JCM200 TSL602. Punk rock holy grail

I can only play power chords, though, with these clunky hooves.

I'd like one of those too, one day. The first electric I ever played was a buddy's Les Paul and it was slick. The body was a bit clunky to me, but it played well and of course sounded great.

I think we can do better than 9-3, that's why I'm setting that as a floor, just to account for the possibility of injuries or close rivalry games that may go either way. If we can avoid self-inflicted mistakes like penalties and such, then we can definitely return to 10 wins (or more) this year. We have a favorable schedule. Based on what I've seen so far from UNC and Miami, we could handle them this year. We'll know more over the next couple of weeks based on who shakes off the cobwebs best.

If you think we are going for a national title contention this year I really dont know what to say to that. this game was a gauge to what we need to work on. playing the best will make us learn quicker and be a better team. if we fix our wr play and continue improving in all aspects I could see us in the acccg.

to follow up on scheduling games like this. next year starts the playoffs. that means that even after a week 1 loss we could win out and still potentially make the playoffs. sorry but it makes way more sense to continue what we are doing

Yeah, when I read the news on ESPN last night, they marveled at #22 (Rightfully so) and neglected to see how we only shut down the nations top team offensively.

Fuck ESPN and their winds of change. They'll be sorry when December rolls around and we are right there in it with Clemson vying for the title.

And at least we got some respect for an Oregon Duck, though I'm not convinced yet by Miami's defense.

Judging from Hale's last post and this one, he didn't actually watch the VT game. Logan Thomas went 5 for 26, but his wide receivers dropped at least ten passes. The defense can put anyone on lockdown. Those non-offensive touchdowns were just first game jitters. VT is definitely going to rock some of the team's on that list. And I wouldn't be surprised if Miami ends the season ahead of Florida State.
