we always park at fontaine research park, it's public and not too bad of a walk, probably comparable to walking to lane from the prices fork lots. plus there's a patch of woods next to it that makes it easy to circumvent the lines at the porta-potties. true story, in 2011 i'm over there pissing and a hoo actually put his hand on my shoulder (while i'm urinating) and says, "yeah you cant do this in blacksburg can ya?" i'm like, "what? piss in the woods?" and give him a serious wtf look. he just kept grinning as he did his duty. it was weird.

Last time in Charlottesville (38-0 bro), we parked at JPJ Arena. It's a good walk to the stadium, but it's not too bad. I think it was free parking and it did not fill up too quickly.

Yeah, we gotta send him one stat, make sure it's the biggest of the bunch to make up for this atrocity

How big are the flags? What size is the biggest one?

We. Need. Pictures. Of whatever this turns out to be.

My first thought is that we might end up needing to pay Sammy Watkins for his likeness...

Not the gray ones. Prefer the orange. With the black outline. Either of those two. The one with the white border is more traditional, and I like our brand, so I guess that one is my preference. But the other one is pretty sweet too.

Thanks. I mentioned it to a buddy of mine, saying, "HorseOnATreadmill would be the greatest TKP username of all time". So he signed up. I convinced him to let me post under it when he had 2 turkey legs. Got the password. Changed it. Boom. 1000 turkey legs later...

1000 turkey legs later, I have the opportunity to confirm you're correct. There is no backing out. There is only sacking up. Go to Atlanta. And bring everything you've got with you.

Amen. That crap is downright disrespectful to bourbon...more like cough syrup than a fine spirit.

I never play NCAA football games (I think I've played one full length game in an NCAA game since 2008). But my brother buys them every year so today I decided to try to #BeatBama on Heisman. I won 38-28, Kyle Fuller had 3 picks and LT3 had 5 touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 passing). If I can do it then they can do it on August 31st too!

I used to use my phone during breaks for injury updates from my father who was watching it on TV. Also, getting updates from him on what the probable call was during official reviews.

I found myself in the same mind set going into the game vs #1 USC in 04. Kinda the same scenario of coming off a bad season with lots of questions marks. I walked into FedEx thinking we were gonna get clobbered. I was very surprised how are team came out and fought in that game and we had a lead in the 3rd with all the momentum. Even though that was crushed by a horrible pass interference call that swung everything back USCs way and we ended up losing it still goes to show that there is some hope. We just need to maintain a level of hope and believe that we can compete. I know our guys are gonna work their butts off all summer for August 31st. Lets stand behind them with a sense of belief

If there is no sense of belief then why bother even attending?

I appreciate the encouraging words folks, seriously. To your point about the games you mentioned, Horse, (you posses my personal favorite username by the way) I attended those games and went into each fully believing we were going to win. I think the difference now is that we may be at our lowest point of reconstruction against the latest #1 team. I think you hit it on the head by saying you really can't look at this on paper--its just plain ugly. I was sort of hoping someone would throw out some stats or come up with an angle I hadn't considered--but there really isn't one. So with that I will denounce my last post and hope for a victory. There is no backing out of Atlanta....ticket is already locked up.

CHARLAY MURPHAY!!!! WHAT'S UP PARTNER?? DARKNESS EVERYBODY DARKNESS!! CHARLAY, THERE'S A NEW JOKE GOING AROUND, YOU HEARD IT?? WHAT DID THE 5 FINGERS SAY TO THE FACE? SLAP!!

I don't entirely disagree with you, but I do a little. Any team on any day can beat anyone else. That's why they play the game. On paper, and given recent history, I'd say you're right, this looks like a loss. But then again, so did VT vs. USC in 2004, and that game, to quote Lee Corso, was closer than the experts thought. Same with the Sugar Bowl that year vs. Auburn.

The most positive thing I can think of is our attitude, as a team, going into the game. We'll know pretty early on how the game is going to go (see: Last year's MNC). That isn't to say the beginning of the game will dictate the result (see: 1999 MNC vs. FSU, in question until the fourth quarter). I'd expect to see a team that believes they can hang with Alabama. I expect to see a team that comes out with a chip on their collective shoulder. As good as Alabama is, it isn't like their players are ten feet tall and run 3.9s 40s. They're still approximately the same size, approximately the same speed, and we'll both be well-prepared. I expect a game, and while I'm not going to Vegas and predicting a Hokies victory, it isn't locked up. Not by a long shot.
