I always preferred RW to Wilson, personally. Maybe less top-end speed and raw talent, but far better vision and he seemed more effective in short-yardage situations... Having said that, I love them both, and can see the argument for either. Sort of an 2A or 2B ranking for me...

I do not have the same negative view of JC, nor do I think he's our next best thing or even the answer to our running problems. However, I think Coleman's upside is much higher than Holmes' was. I agree that HokieNation is naively high on JC, but I think it's largely due to the potential upside aforementioned. I'm not as high on him as everyone else is (I've never been on here raving about him, honestly) but I wasn't as unpleased with him as I was with Holmes.

I don't think JC is the answer, but I do think he can be a good change of pace or pass catching back. Holmes on the other hand, I didn't see any use for him.

No way. The list goes KJ > DW > RW = Suggs. But they were all pretty damn spectacular in the O & M.

I'd have to disagree, Chazz

I think the overwhelming negative perception that fans have of Holmes production is completely unwarranted. Especially when you consider how high most of them are on JC Coleman.

Coleman averaged 4.5 YPC last year.
Holmes averaged 4.0 YPC last year.

HOWEVER, Coleman had the advantage of having 13 carries vs Duke (the worst YPC defense Tech faced all year). Holmes had 2.

Take away that one game out of 13, that one game where any RB on the roster would have been successful but only one of them got 13 carries...

JC Coleman averaged 3.2 YPC.
Holmes averaged 3.98 YPC.

Coleman averaged 1.6 YPC vs Clemson, 2.6 YPC vs FSU, 2.8 YC vs UVA, and 0.9 vs Rutgers. Coleman had double digit carries in all of those games except Rutgers, where he had 7. Holmes was only given the benefit of 10+ carries twice all season, with 4.2 YPC vs GT and 5.5 YPC vs Cincinnati.

Coleman had 40 more carries then Holmes and was just as ineffective except for one game against LITERALLY the worst rushing defense on Tech's schedule. And yet fans still blame Holmes and lift-up Coleman. I just don't understand it.

That is a solid list. The only changes I might make would be to sub Suggs for Jones, and I think you have to find a way to fit Ben Taylor in there somewhere. Obviously if specialists were included Shane Graham would would be a unanimous #1

It's been since like 2003 that I've played the series.

Madden used to have those back in the early 2000's. You could collect player cards and situation cards, there were three levels of cards for each individual card (bronze, silver and gold) I think and then you could use them during the games.

I think Danny Coale or Jarret Boykin have to make that list. At least as honorable mentions, they are 1, 2 in our receiver records.

I think I would have to put at least one more running back in there. Tech's identity is running the ball and hard to put 3 WR's and only one RB. I would put Suggs in there over Royal (love Eddie, but Suggs had way more production, although who knows what Eddie would've done if we weren't loaded with WR talent at that time). I agree with the defense, except hard not to fit Jimmy in there. I'd probably put him over Kam because Kam really shines more now in the Pros while Jimmy was All-American in college.

If you go by NFL production, then I may agree 100%, except maybe putting D.Wilson in (he's breaking out this year).

Vince Hall, Victor "Macho" Harris, and Tyrod Taylor added to Honorable Mention

This is exactly what I imagine would happen when CFB gets a hold of one
