I live in WV, and as an avid Hokie fan, you can only imagine the verbal abuse I have received my entire life. When the news first broke that this rivalry was being renewed, a WVU fan from my area said that Tech will most likely get scared again, and end the rivalry in 2022. I proceeded to tell him that Tech is not scared of a team that they beat the last two times they played, not to mention Tech slaughtered WVU the last time up in Morgantown. Not much of a reply after that.

got one at my desk at work, i'm looking at it right now. sometimes i give mini-frank a pat on the cap. my boss pointed out that sometimes i type so hard frank's head gets going.

Regarding the wide receivers, no Hokie wide receiver made more big plays than Bryan Still and Andre Davis. I am a huge Eddie Royal and Danny Coale guy. Both were terrific, but neither made the number of big gamebreaking plays that Still and Davis had.

We were lucky to get 1.5 years out of him at tech. i played against him and knew him in high school and his only healthy year in HS was his freshman year and towards the end of his senior year he would sit out games with stomach aches to avoid getting hurt. I was shocked to see him stay healthy a whole year at tech, but i believe if he could have always been healthy he would no doubt be number one

Didn't RMFW have zero runs for lost yards his RS FR year? If it wasn't zero it was very close because I know he had more in the Boise game than the whole previous year. Regardless, that is why he is my favorite.

Holmes and JC are two completely different players. JC is quick and can make people miss. Holmes is...uhhh...well THAT's thing about him is that he didn't really have a true running style. He wasn't an overpowering guy; he wasn't quick; he wasn't like Ru where he would burst through the line and then cutback and leave defenders in the dust. He was just average. He had gaping holes to run through in those plays in the Cinci game where he accumulated all of his yards. I know JC had the same during the Duke game, but he housed both of those runs. There is no way on earth that Holmes does the same.

I'm not saying JC is the answer, but if Holmes can't make or find his own holes, then you are left with two backs who rely a lot on the O Line. And when one of them takes it all the way and the other just gets a first down, then it should be obvious who the fan favorite will be.

QB: Tyrod. Sorry I know most all of us agree Vick was better but I dont want Vick leading my team over Tyrod. Tyrod had more heart than any player Ive seen. I think with real offensive coaches Tyrod would been a better player anyway.
RB: Ryan Williams. The one year he was healthy, he was best Ive seen us have at RB. Splitting hairs w/ KJ though.
WR: Im good w Davis and Freeman. Did we forget about Ernest Wilford though? Plenty of other good ones including Coale, Boykin, Royal ect
TE: Jeff King...not much to debate
Like the D selections. Might want to throw D. Tapp in the debate.
LB: Ben Taylor, Vince Hall, Adibi, Cody Grimm at Whip.
Yeah try running the ball on those guys.
I dont want J Williams. Too much of a problem player.
Give me D Hall and Flowers. Hall had a little too much mouth but he had the talent to back it up. Williams really didnt against elite players. Remember D Hall being able to shut down Fitzgerald but J Williams couldnt think of stopping Calvin Johnson. You could even throw Hosely into the discussion off his performance in 2010 alone.
Safety: Kam if you are playing him to his strengths...wasnt always the case based on our needs. Anyone remember Willie Pyle? Certainly worth considering

I definitely agree. But, the reason I put DW over RW is because DW can run over a defender, break an ankle, and run away from the pack in open space. I do think RW has a little bit more shiftiness inside and better vision, but I felt DW could score every time he touched the ball. This is also how I felt about KJ, except KJ was more athletic.

So, based on these opinions, I ranked the RBs accordingly. And likewise, it's all, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D.

agreed...i can't pay for that trash especially with TKP being so awesome.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's good life advice to not bust on ANYONE who is surrounded by three linemen. Call me crazy, but I quite like my nose.

Some 2015 names to watch:

Deshawn McClease
Harry Lewis
Darvin Taylor

All three of these players have two things in common: Virginians who just had their "crystal ball" prediction say Virginia Tech this week, from Evan Watkins.

I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the three commits this weekend.

I would say that it has to do with the fact that Holmes was a r-Fr so he had a year to get in the weight program, gain knowledge of the playbook, and become a college RB whereas Coleman was a true Freshman that didn't have those advantages. You could assume that Holmes should have been set up to have more success, but never showed much whereas Coleman showed more promise for the future. Last year aside, I still say that Coleman shows more promise because he is more of a playmaker on the field and can be used more than Holmes. In theory, both will be replaced by Edmunds, but Coleman has the ability to contribute in ways other than just running the ball.

Agreed.

RW made better decisions and rarely fumbled the ball.

DW had a larger upside, but was prone to making silly mistakes.

I think if DW had stayed at VT longer, he may have overtaken RW, but based on what they did while a Hokie, I give a slight edge to RW.

He has a coke zero cardboard cutout in the lobby that goes to his office. I always wonder if he gets tired of looking at it or if he high fives it when he goes by.

RW was more of a pure running back. He was good between the tackles, had good speed (not great) and wasn't afraid of contact. David Wilson was more of an athlete than a pure running back, and you could see that in the way he stayed on his feet and ran backwards. I personally preferred Ryan Williams as a running back but since he only played what amounted to 1.5 years at Tech it's hard for me to like him more as a player.

From my perspective, it seems that most Hokie fans (not you in particular) were generally upset about the complete lack of a rushing attack and lashed out at the starting RB, which was Holmes early in the season. By the time Coleman was getting the majority of the carries, the fan base had moved on to blaming the coaches. Yet their initial impression of Holmes as ineffective stuck, despite the evidence that no RB would have been successful running behind that line and in that system.

I wasn't as unpleased with him(JC) as I was with Holmes.

I'm interested as to why you'd be less pleased with Holmes then JC? If the evidence shows (and I think it does) that Coleman was just as ineffective as Holmes, why would you dislike one more?

I still don't understand why BeamerBall.com is such a bad website.
