This series may have lost a bit of luster, but my freshman year (2003) was the last time we lost of UVa, and let me tell you, if you experience that once, you never want to experience it again. That memory alone fuels my intensity every time rivalry week rolls around. I had a sick feeling in my stomach all this year until the final FG gave us the win. That game alone demonstrated that they might have the ability to beat us. I dreaded the thought of us losing to the Hoos. For me, that's a rivalry - when there is a team, any team, against whom losing would trigger physical illness.

There are probably rivalries out there that are completely one-sided, probably not marquee teams, but the VT-UVa rivalry stems (in part) from UVa constantly, at every possible turn, trying to say that they're in some way better than us. Conveniently, what have we got going for us? 38-0 bro. (Almost) decade of dominance. I want nothing more than to see that continue. Oh yea, and improve on the big stage and win the "big games."

+1 for your tag. I use that all the time in life coaching.

Please convince me why Worilds over Daryll Tapp? I even like Gayle better than Worilds. Lots and lots of love for Tapp, though. Talk about heart.

Seems like Armstrong really wants to be a Hokie.

I read these completely different..... "bust on" just has too many meanings.....

Evan Watkins also added Trevion Armstrong, a 6'4" WR out of VA. He is a 4 star also. The prediction is to the Hokies.

So maybe Daniel Tosh was a bad example (never heard this line from him, but he says all types of things, so it wouldn't surprise me). Seems like many are not fans of his on this site.

But what I find rather amusing is that it appears to be OK to make jokes about UVA, Bama (remember the whole thread about how AJ McCarron downgraded his girlfriend?), Radford, and other schools, but the moment a comment is made about a girl in a pic with some Hokie football players, it becomes distasteful. Oh, and what about the Britney Spears comments when she was seen wearing Hokie gear? So honestly, to me, you gotta have some consistancy. You can't be dissing one dude's girl because she is beat and dating AJ, but then be all defensive on some other girl who may or may not be affiliated with VT. What if AJ's new girl ends up dating Logan? Then what?

In addition, I'm not sure what is happening in Blacksburg now, because I've been out of school for over 10 years, but I recall many people making jokes on girls. For example, the whole cook line at a restaurant I worked at called referred to one chick as butter face.

Also, the comment about this being a forum. I've been on many forums, and jokes and comments are pretty typical. I know that TKP is not your typical forum, but the comments that were made never went that far. This is a sports site by the way, and when I played football, baseball, etc there weren't too many sensitive mouths on the field.

If I recall, it's pretty common for guys to lay into other guys on a regular basis. Any of the alum that I hang with now definitely don't hold back.

Anyway, if we are going to be sensitive to feelings, it should be universal. I'm done and moving on after this.

Bruce Smith should be the #1 DE no matter what. He is the best DE in VT history, and a first ballet Hall of Famer.

My prediction for the 4 star surprise this weekend is Ricky Walker.
Nnadi is still insistent he will take his officials. I think we have a shot with Colt Pettit and Brady Taylor also.

I think Danny Coale's great execution of all of his short first down catches has to be worth something. He didn't have as many big plays because he was the guy who was ALWAYS open for the first down.
I think he's the most dependable receiver we've had, and for me that puts him on the list.

Personally, I'd put David Wilson in as the RB. He just had such ridiculous speed and big play potential. Not to mention he was pretty strong for being that fast. As much as I don't like the Giants, he is going to have a monster year for them.
And I think that Boykin and Coale should be there too. Coale was just so dependable, and Boykin was strong enough to break tackles in space. There's a reason they're 1-2 on the all time list, even when they were both on the field! And if you want to talk big plays, DC vs. Nebraska is up there with the best of them...

There are three Hokies you can not insult in my presense: KJ, Flowers, and Mr. Andre Smith. Loved the Andre Smith name drop! Many hokies overlook him.

Can we fit Wilson in as a kickoff returner or something? It's a shame there are so many studs at the tb position clogging it up...

Earnest Wilford should not be in the conversation - he was our only competent reciever for a couple years but was highly inconsistant and had more drops than Marcus Davis. I'm still sick about the 2 point conversion he dropped in 2001 against Miami.

I was lucky enough to be a Junior in 1999, and witness the miracle in Morgantown personally. It was me and 3 friends that made the trip. We were bombarded relentlessly for around 3 hours with anything and everything thrown at us ranging from cans, to chicken bones, to what appeared to be some sort of small recently deceased mammal. Though in hind sight the latter may have been something they eat there. There are no lower class fans than WVU's. With all that said though, the rivalry was amazing. I still wear my VT gear any and every time i visit anywhere north of Charleston.

Don't have a CFB bobblehead (at least not yet), just the little guy in my avatar, who I've named Bobby Champs. I also have a one-of-a-kind hand-painted bobblehead of my high school team.

I really like Donovan Riley. Pending an in-person evaluation on Kendall Fuller, he is my first choice to be the second corner if Exum isn't ready. Plus, you can play him outside at field corner when they move Kyle Fuller to nickel when Exum is healthy. I have zero confidence in Donaldven Manning. His feet are in mud every time I have watched him play. He isn't a great cover guy, and isn't big enough to avoid being targeted.
