I agree with hokienskins in terms of Beamer and recruiting. It won't change until he's not our coach because all of the big losses and lack of recent big wins. Yes he's a legend and a great coach but when your resume is as long as his, the lack of a championship (and other things) stand out as red flags to these recruits. It's just the way it is. Our new hires certainly can help, but until we get a new young head coach, I don't see the recruiting situation going as we'd like it to go. That's why I hated reading comments on this site comparing us not getting these recruits to Kentucky getting big recruits - They can preach change and a new beginning that these kids will buy into whereas with us, what you see is what you get. Not saying that "what you see is what you get" is terrible because with us, they see ACC dominance and ACC trophies, but these kids want national dominance and crystal balls (that they probably won't get at Kentucky either but at least they can sell it better than we can).
I'm not saying I want Beamer gone, just saying that even though most may dislike what hokieskins said, he makes a valid point.
Kid is super athletic. He just glides. Sure he's not a DT? If he is actually 6-5- wow.
roll toilet
Sounds like you're doing it right.
Does it matter? They are both awful offenses.
"avoid being a jerk" reminded me of the old jerk alerts.
Makes me laugh that the jerk alert is for foul language and at ~0:20 someone yells "GET THE F%$# OUT!"

Vick, I think, currently. He killed lots of dogs. Dogs are warm and cuddly. And he did it for illicit money making ends. And all the facts are out and all the facts were highly publicized.
Soon, though, it will be Hernandez. If it goes the way of Ray Lewis, though, it will be an afterthought. How about these?
Vick vs. Ray Lewis ("not guilty"...)
Vick vs. Roethlisburger (never prosecuted...)
Vick vs. Lawrence Taylor (lots of stuff here)
what about
Hernandez vs. PacMan (leaves destruction in his wake...)
Hernandez vs. OJ (if we knew then what we know now...)
I agree with you somewhat here. Vick was such a more well-known individual, having been among the best college players for 2 years and then set the NFL on fire with his style of play, so his case was much more high-profile, even if he was "only" killing dogs instead of people. In that respect I think a lot of people would say Vick just because they've never heard of Hernandez.
And then I'm sure people would also make the argument that he didn't just kill the dogs, he essentially tortured them, making them fight to the death.
I'm not saying I agree with either of these points, because, to me, human life is more precious than animal's lives. I was even making the point back then that it seemed he was getting a harsher sentence than some football players that had killed people, and when Stallworth had his drunk-driving manslaughter incident and only served 24 days I thought that was ridiculous.
Yeah, i agree Hernandez is worse but people today are so used to murder crimes, which is sad. Vick carries the shock and awe factor of a terrible and also not commonly publicized crime
Ugh I was at that game as a 15 year old growing up in KY. That's the quietest I've seen a stadium become suddenly after raucous madness, besides 2007 Boston College. My friend and I had climbed down out of our endzone seats and were about to rush the goalposts when that play happened.
What's worse is at the postgame tailgate I had to listen to my LSU uncle and his drinking buddies taunt all of us.
Killing a human being is definitely worse. That being said, people get killed every day so there is a desensitization there. I think that in terms of public opinion, people would be more aware of Vick's offense than Hernandez's.
I'm not trying to get my hopes up or anybody else's for that matter, but I found this VERY interesting.
Virginia and Alabama like me as a defensive end. Coach Saban called me a three-down lineman that could play end, tackle, or the nose. There's no need for me to leave the field.
Would a guy who is a dominant DT really want to switch to DE? I don't know if he would thrive as a DE in the same way that he would DT. I also don't think Bama's 3-4 defense is a good fit for him. Just another tidbit of information as we get closer to his decision.
Oh I agree that killing another person is much worse, but I have a feeling that if there was a poll there would be a pretty split opinion. I guess I was more wondering what people thought the general public would think.
I havent heard or seen anything on the interwebs or on that twitter thing the kids are doing these days.
I will definitely make a full LT highlight video after this season. I'll dedicate one section to just him trucking fools.
Killing another human being is much worse than killing an animal. As TechHokie13 said, I love dogs, but killing another person for talking to people you don't like is ridiculous.
hernandez. next question.
Hernandez, no question. What Vick did was horrible, but Hernandez is accused of murdering a fellow human being (not to mention a friend). I love animals, but there's no doubt that killing a person is worse, IMHO.
I miss Greg Boone....
My wife was watching the trailers for this upcoming season a couple of days ago at work. She called and said we have to take our 7 year old this year to a night game. We live 4 hours away so this will be my daughters first game. But every season she asks while we are watching games when she will get to jump up and down in the Lane. Hope to see you all and your future Hokies this year.
Ahh...the early days of Nick Saban selling his soul to the devil for a victory.
Hopefully he gets to blow up infield and doesn't become our version of Rudy.
As much as I want to see CJ play, I think we should just bypass his playing career and hire him as co-recruiting coordinator/VT hype man. It's pretty amazing that he's getting on people's "Most Beloved Hokie" radar and he hasn't played a down of ball for us yet.
Anyone know if he eliminated a team last night?

Ah yes, the Hefty Lefty. I remember that guy.
