I agree with this....i hope he gets back on the team & is able to contribute, but he just never looked to me like he had 'it' on the field....regardless of our line woes last year.....

Fish- congrats on the new house! - Thanks for the welcomes everyone....they are Lilium asiaticum: 'Tango Orange Art' - I bought them from a local garden club fundraiser sale, but i looked online and you can get them from a ton of sellers on the web (just google the name), or maybe locally depending on what kind of stuff your nursery stocks.....mine seem to have more maroon than orange, but i'm sure all that kind of stuff has to do with environment, cross pollenating, etc...the great thing about all of these types of asian lillies (i have a bunch of other varieties) is that they multiply new bulbs like crazy every year...each bulb will create 4-10 new bulbs each year....so you can let a cluster keep expanding, or take some in the fall and start a new cluster going, or give away to another deserving Hokie! Hope this helps......

This is probably in poor taste...but I can't imagining if Holmes would have hit holes as hard and agressive as this situation seemed to be. If he had this fury in him, it wish he would've used it on the field (legally, of course) and stopped pussy-footing and dancing...

The Solar Haus was located at 405 Houston St (paste this into google maps to see the location: 37.223729,-80.413445). They had concerts up on the third floor, usually smaller punk bands.

They had what looked like a fourth floor loft/balcony space, too, but I never went up there, and there were big windows in what appeared to be the living room, where the bands played. People would pack that living room and when bands changed, it was a hassle getting equipment in and out of the crowd (the stairs were on the back wall of the living room, while the bands set up on the front of the living room).

When concerts would happen, they'd place mattresses over the windows, presumably to prevent exactly the type of incident the article states.

I came out front of my apartment (Center St #11, 37.222407,-80.414987) to have a cigarette and there were police lights coating the whole area. When I walked over with a buddy of mine, Thomas Hauser(name similarity is a coincidence), we walked across the field and there were paramedics and multiple ambulances outside on the back patio, cleaning up some people who had fallen from the third floor.

Apparently, when a band (if I recall correctly, named Death by Stereo, a sad coincidence) was playing, people started moshing. As the crowd swayed back and forth, people were crushed up against the mattresses that blocked the windows, and one window gave way. A few people fell out of the window down three stories onto a concrete patio. When I arrived, they were taking the last of the fallen from the scene. There was a mattress and a whole lot of blood on the patio. We hung around for a little while, then bailed. There was a bad electricity in the air. And it was very quiet.

I had heard that they weren't allowed to play shows there anymore. Not surprising.

On the by and by, can anyone tell me if Thomas Hauser's tree is still there? We planted it here: (37.225538,-80.422173), right next to the Slusher Tower in the Slusher Court/Beach area.
