It might be more that Leofller runs a pro style offense so he will get his guys in place trusting that Grimes will get the OL together. If the OL isn't sound it could be a rough year or two. The QBs we are looking at this year and last year (Bucky, Park, Cornwell) are considered pro style but they are all pretty athletic and mobile. Not Tyrod mobile but guys who can buy a little time.
Nothing about about Raven's superbowl ring eye-balling him from the D-side
Thanks, Joe, good to see that.
And rogue_nine9
The relationship with his future quarterback coach is important to Cornwell, as is the system. Cornwell is a good athlete for his size, but at 6'5 and 225 pounds, he is more of a pro-style passer than a dual-threat. Cornwell said he doesn't care about pro-style v. the spread, but wants a system to get him ready for the NFL.
If the new coaches are confident enough to recruit a pro-style QB, then that means the O Line is expected to make improvements in 2013 and beyond. One of VT's best Offensive Lines is the reason for Druckenmiller's success.
He did grow up a Colt's Fan:

The NFL is a big influence for Cornwell. He grew up a Colts fan, and attended Colts games for seven consecutive years, and patterns his game after some of the greats.
"I see myself as a combination of Ben Rothlesberger and Tom Brady, but of course Peyton Manning is my favorite."

Seems like things are going well.

Well it's going to come down to your definition of "light years away" I guess. If Tech is "light years" away from signing these top recruits, how far away are programs like JMU's? Or Richmond's? Or Wake Forest?
Tech isn't an elite recruiting school, but it certainly is a top 30 school. Tech isn't that far off from landing top recruits out of VA, it just needs the offense to be as effective as the defense has been. If Loeffler can turn that around, expect Tech to start making more noise on the recruiting ground.
Actually found a photo of HD getting ready to write...

#IwasatVTbefore TOTS was two years old, and I think before they had rails.
#IwasatVTbefore VT won its first bowl game.
#IwasatVTbefore the consecutive bowl streak.
#IwasatVTbefore Michael Vick was born.
#IwasatVTbefore we #BEATBAMA.
Grimey was the O-Line coach for the 2010 Auburn team & Loeffler was a GA for the 1997 Michigan team.
It was fictitious. The class of 86 reference was for being born in Montgomery Regional as well.
Yes, we have all that.....
But I truly think the one thing that we are missing is $$$$$$$.
I live near the shadow of Clemson and South Carolina and the amount of money that their alumni throw at their program is daunting. (And they're not even in the ballpark with a Texas or Alabama.)
I don't think that we, as Hokies send the money to the program like some of these other schools.
Both Clemson and South Carolina just spent BIG money on coaching staff and their facilities are impressive.
I think it comes down to deciding we want to win the big one and then start sending large $ across the range of the alumni. And it's not a quick process........
IWasAtVTBefore they put any traffic circles anywhere
IWasAtVTBefore Bull And Bones, and I still don't know what you all are talking about
IWasAtVTBefore Sharkey's moved. Does it still exist?
IWasAtVTBefore Ron Mexico went pro
IWasAtVTBefore the Louisville Stomper
IWasAtVTBefore we moved to the ACC
There is a lack of shame for VA athletes that go to out of state schools. I bet almost every top recruit in AL went to Bama or Auburn. Not so in VA.
Yea, there is something about VT that isn't resonating. I don't know what it is, maybe it is the lack of crystal ball. Pretty much every successful (perennial top-10) recruiting team has a crystal ball or a very close connection (i.e. USCeast has Spurrier). VT currently has no connection. In the Hokie's defense, they do have very strong connections to superbowl rings. Lefty mentored Tom Brady and is very close to him. Moorehead has one himself.
Maybe we need to just win every game this year and rectify that crystal ball problem.
+1 because you made me happy
Edit: add Brown to the list, please?
She's showing up in an Exum jersey
We can only hope...
Oh, nice. Didn't realize he was that high in Indiana, but good call.
We need a decade of dominance shirt for the UVA game.
Good point, the dagger is that to get there we need the talent that wants us to already have it. It's a nasty circle. However, Beamer and Foster have proven to be GREAT at developing the talent they have. I think if we can upgrade the base level of talent and then have that development on top of that we may very well get there sooner rather than later.
Not until we win, can't jinx it.
Joe, print these shirts too.
#DecadeOfDominance

I've heard that Brown and Nnadi likely won't end up in the same place because they don't get along that well. I have no idea if it is true but I have heard it. I just have a feeling we get 1 but not the other. I would love to get both though.
