i've always felt like tysean glenrod was done about as well as a situation like that could hope to be.

Time for the coaching staff to go on a full-court press for Parks and Cornwell. Additionally, if Tech can pick up Brown, that may tilt some things in the Hokies' favor.

It is good...sounds like his visit went really well. I don't think we will know much for awhile when it comes to these 4 and 5 star guys...they are enjoying the recruiting process

I was assuming we would play in the ACC champ every year, and that FSU and Clemson were the only ones remained relevant in the Atlantic.

What if the good news was Andrew Brown naming us in his Top 5? To sweeten the deal, he excluded UVA. That's pretty damn good news in my opinion.

the funniest one we had was after the game walking back, some ecu fan jumped into one or our other friends face who was wearing tech gear and yelled "AAARRRRGGHH!!" our buddy, who i dare say is a bad man, told him, "you're gonna get your fuckin teeth knocked out doin that shit!" that pirate dude made a beeline out of there and didnt look back. it was classic.

Because the Rector site is not going away. Football borrows it when they need it from Track and Field. As part of this project, a couple million dollars go to fixing up the Rector Field House. There really isn't an ideal location that doesn't have something there already and isn't in Stadium Woods. I think the best bet is that it is built on the stadium lot. It's close enough, doesn't destroy the current practice fields, doesn't remove the tennis courts, just removes parking. They can add a bunch of spots up behind Chicken Hill to make up for the loss as well.

This may sound like a dumb question...but why can't it be located on the "old" practice field site (soccer field). Seems like its the right size, would be consistant visually with the athletic facitilties. Soccer would get a new field...potentially on the site of the old Rector site once the new one opens.

What?

My guess is that means the new facility (1) must be on par with others in the conference and (2) must be comparable to similar facilities in the most successful conference. Both points sound like recruiting tools to me. Be as good (or better) than the guys you play all the time, and similarly competitive with the best in the nation.

I agree on the road name change. I grew up a hokie, came to games, lived in Pritchard (you can see it out the window!) and Cochrane while I was attending and still don't know that road's name if you asked me quickly. Should involve something with Lane or at least athletics, seeing as Cassell, Merriman, Lane, and Tech Softball Park are all off of that road.

Only assuming we play in the ACC Championship Game every year (and further assuming that only Clemson and FSU are relevant in the Atlantic).

We play Clemson in 2017, FSU in 2018, then don't see either again for at least 5 years when we play FSU in 2023, then Clemson in 2024.

We get to play BC every year, though - huzzah! /sarcasm

What?

No matter how they slice it, that part of campus is pretty packed. I actually think they should eliminate the current tennis courts, and add new ones where the tennis center is and add a roller hockey rink up there. Block Washington St. all the way up to Cassell/Airport Rd. That road is dangerous anyway and impassible any time classes are changing.

On a side note, does anyone else think we should change the name of the road the stadium is located on? Spring Rd? How about Stadium Lane? Who didn't think of this?

And just hours after I said this, from Stewart Mandel's College Football Mailbag today:

Hi Stewart, longtime reader and very depressed UConn fan. I think without a doubt UConn is the biggest loser in conference realignment. Do you think if Randy Edsall stayed at UConn and continued having similar success in the Big East -- or if the school had hired an up-and-coming young coach as his replacement instead of Paul Pasqualoni -- that UConn would be in a better position conference-wise than it is today?

Timing is everything, right? I don't believe UConn was ever in serious consideration for the Big Ten. While Jim Delany wanted to go east, he wanted big markets. And while the Connecticut border is just as close to New York City as Piscataway, N.J., Rutgers is still viewed as more of a New York area school. However, there were many reasons to think UConn was a more natural fit for the ACC than Louisville, beginning with the fact that Hartford is a bigger market than Louisville. Perhaps the conference would have made a different decision if the situation had unfolded in 2011, when the Huskies were coming off both a BCS bowl appearance and an NCAA tournament championship. As it was, in November 2012, Louisville was the program en route to that same combo, while UConn had returned to mediocrity in football and was at that time banned from the basketball postseason for academic penalties. That probably didn't sit well on Tobacco Road.

FTW

There are several low profile places out near Due South that are pretty good. Dude's Drive in is right next to Due South and Gardener's Frozen Treats is up the road towards downtown CBurg. Gardener's is one of the best kept secrets around Blacksburg. They make their own Italian ice and gelato and is by far the best place for ice cream around. My girlfriend introduced me to it while we were students and now we stop on the way in and out every trip to Blacksburg.
