I was far enough away in the stands that I couldn't see that he dropped it (north end of the East stands). My whole section exploded. It was the greatest feeling I'd ever had. Followed immediately by the worst feeling I'd ever had.
I live in State College, PA, and the fans up here who actually pay attention to recruiting (and are old enough to remember Kevin Jones going to VT) absolutely hate that he became a Hokie. Seems like that feeling will last forever (they shake the angry fist at me for it. Shake harder, boy!)
i got excited just reading this. we are gonna raise holy hell in that dome.
did you see that kid? been taking fashion advice from craig sager evidently.
I believe Duke is Wallace Wade Stadium, and Scott is UVA's home turf... No matter their names though, they are all Lane Stadium {enter cardinal direction}...

Found this over at Virginia Tech's 247 page in an article written by Kyle Bailey:
Should there be a tie atop the pools, the head-to-head winner between tied teams advances. Should there be a three-way tie, the following tiebreaker is in place, per an ACC release:
a) The team with the best overall conference winning percentage in regular-season play will advance.
b) The team with the best head-to-head conference winning percentage among the tied teams in regular-season play, provided all teams were common opponents during the regular season, will advance.
c) The team with the highest seed in the respective bracket will advance.
So in that scenario, UVA would move on to the championship game since they have the better regular season conference winning percentage (.733 to Tech's .517). That being the case, there is no way that we would be able to advance out of a three way tiebreaker, so let's just win out like you suggested!
I can't say I know how that game will end, but I really hope Bama is hurting by the time they enter the locker room afterwards. We want them to know we wouldn't roll over for them.
Congratulations Cleveland, you just won the Erick Green sweepstakes!
if he's as good as bud, we'll have that trophy case full within a few years
Something like that...
...and Danny Coale is still wide open...
Carol Lee>Krispy Kreme>Duncan Donuts
If you're ever up in the Great Lakes area or Canada, Tim Horton's is great too.
Accurate analysis. Never buy donuts from a Scotsman
Id say 7-3 was a pretty good recovery
I tried to search for wvu fan craps in band, and a video of nicki minaj video came up.
Krispy Kreme>Duncan Donuts, but I state the obvious.
i cant believe i never thought of this before...my dislike for glennon as a quarterback was just renewed, especially remembering standing in the cold and rain and watching logan self destruct in the Clemson game at home when the crowd had been electric pre kick off and into the start of the game.
Hokiefan,
I agree on your take of the importance of QBs. Although football is the ultimate team sport, they can add more value to a team than a good TE.
I guess where we differ is the significance of the banner. The banner is more than sentimental. There are other ways to honor players for sentimental reasons. The banner is part of Virginia Tech history. The banner will in be Lane Stadium forever. The banner is seen be every student, athlete, alumni, opposing team for as long as college football is played. When someone sees a banner of a former player 30 years from now - and has no emotional attachment to that player, that team, that era, they will want to know more about that player and why they were so deserving.
Tyrod had a chance in 2010 to put together that special season that would have left no doubt about his inclusion on one of those select poles. He had the supporting cast and schedule to boot. What happened? He went up against two All-American QBs of his era (Kellen Moore and Andrew Luck) and whiffed - went 0 for 2. And then there is JMU.
Actually, Tyrod Taylor's career reminds me a lot of EJ Manuel's at Florida State. Both highly touted QBs out of high school. Both split time with co-starters their first two years - Tyrod and Glennon, EJ and Ponder - often times outperforming their starting competition. They both led their teams to bowl wins, BCS bowl wins and ACC championships (Tyrod trumping Manuel in their head to head). Both put up similar career TD and total yard numbers. Worthy comparison to the first round draft pick?
They had GREAT careers!
But know this - Manuel is not going to see his jersey retired at Doak Campbell. He is not joining this star studded/select list http://www.seminoles.com/trads/fsu-trads-retired.html
I guess my point is, there will be other ways to honor T Mobile. He had a great career - just not banner worthy. I know this is not a popular opinion - so I will brace for the down arrows :-)
We really don't even retire jerseys we just put their name on a flag and I haven't seen a Tech player lately more deserving than Tyrod.
I'm buying from this guy... somebody put some Hokie kit on the man...

I loved them too, even bought one. I think sometimes people get too caught up in uniforms being simple. But let's be honest, having nice Oregon-esque uniforms helps recruiting a lot. I hate a lot of the uniforms we wear, but if we let someone other than whoever designs stuff now everyone would like the idea now.
Im referring to the fuckers who burn couches, throw batterys and apparently bags full of piss.
The extra $350k (?) is about .5% of the $66.9 mil in revenue grossed in 2012. IF (big IF) Loeffler proves to be as valuable to our program as Bud is, then I expect the athletic department to pay the man.

Ugh. I can't claim to be any more than hopeful for this one. Stewart Mandel ranked the top 5 non-conference games of the season in a recent mailbag, the only relevant quote to us would be this gem:
"Alabama fans will surely howl for leaving the Virginia Tech game off this list, but it's only because I don't expect it to be much of a game. (Offshore books already have the Tide as 22-point favorites.)"
Thanks, Stewart. But I can't say his opinion is all that uncommon. I just hope it is more like the last VT/'Bama game than the most recent VT/LSU game. At least 'Bama fans are pretty classy. I guess confidence comes when you have a collection of crystal footballs.
