I could have sworn it was more, but I don't watch much NFL. I guess it was such a public fumble that they kept talking about it. And, you know, he cried.

Okay, my bad.

Yeah, Coleman is fast. He tweeted his 40 time the other day and said it had improved from last season. But again, to your point, it has to do with who's timing it I guess. There really needs to be a more automatic timer for these kinds of drills. There's way too much potential for human error as you said.

This is from a local paper near me (and Mihota):

A scholarship offer from a national powerhouse hasn’t swayed Massaponax junior football standout Vinny Mihota.

The Panthers’ defensive lineman orally committed to Virginia Tech—the first school to offer him a scholarship—last spring as a sophomore.

But since then other schools around the country have taken notice.

And recently Alabama extended a scholarship offer to Mihota (6-foot-4, 240 pounds).

ā€œIt’s an honor, but I’m still going to stay loyal to Tech,ā€ Mihota said. ā€œIt was pretty cool to get an offer from them and to meet [Alabama head coach Nick Saban] and all that, but I’ve got to stay with Tech.ā€

The Crimson Tide are the two-time defending national champions. Saban has guided them to three national titles in the past four years.

Still, Mihota said the only way he would back out of his commitment is if Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer or defensive coordinator Bud Foster departed.

Mihota said he doesn’t second-guess his early commitment even though he likely would’ve had a long list of suitors to choose from.

ā€œI knew when I committed to Tech that’s where I wanted to go,ā€ Mihota said. ā€œI don’t regret that decision at all.ā€

Mihota said he is considering enrolling in Virginia Tech early. He will have enough high school credits to depart Massaponax ahead of schedule and enroll in Virginia Tech next January. If he does so, he would be able to participate in 2014 spring practice with the Hokies.

ā€œI would do that just to get acclimated to the whole process,ā€ Mihota said, ā€œand maybe play my freshman year instead of sitting on the bench.ā€

I don't think anyone said its easy and I see your point and it is extremely valid, but it's no fun to compare us to say an FSU or Texas. I'd rather benchmark against the best and see how we can improve to try to match them. Also to your point, if you put our backs behind bama's line they'd be hesiman winners too. You don't think Evans, Williams, and Wilson wouldn't be talked about like Ingram, Richardson, and Yeldon are?

I agree we don't just flip a switch and we have bama's line, but i think you are also discounting that one of their biggest strengths is team play. Everyone on that team knows their job and their line is awesome because they play as a team. I think if Grimes can coach what we have up AND get them all on the same page we will see significant improvement over what we just had.

I'm sure why this is an argument. I think this is an enlightened discussion between fans on a message board that are bored out of their minds because there is no football yet.

Being selected as an All-America will also count as winning a national award. Think is used to be (in football) only for "consensus" All-Americans, but the made the change to retire MV7 and Franks (as a coach).

I was going to post this if no one else had. I don't think anybody realized Davis had scored until Skipper went off. At least nobody in my section. We were all too busy celebrating the hit.

Natl scoring champ should be considered a national award. And besides, why does it have to be on such concrete terms? That doesn't make much sense to me. If said player wins a national award then he should automatically be in the running for jersey hanging/retirement, I'm down with that but that shouldn't be the only criteria. As stated above, this means that Tyrod won't get honored and that really sucks.

Maybe we won't be the bruiser running team that Bama is, but we can get back to being the best in the ACC (I won't count GT because of the unique offense they run)

Thank guys, turkey legs to you both!
