Read last night that the SEC has been courting UNC and Duke for the last three years (on Www.mrsec.com, which has a story about FSU on there). Rumor is that the SEC would take the two NC schools and maybe get VT and NC state as a package deal.
*I edited this comment because I screwed up. I forgot that college and H.S. tournament are different.
I explained this for Slicktrip on twitter, but I will do it again in case the rest of you are curious. Scoring in a wrestling tournament works like this, you get a point for advancing each round in the championship round and a half of a point for advancing in the consolation round. You also get a certain number of points for placing 1-8, 16 points for 1st, 3 points for 8th.
The reason it's hard to say how many points you will get per round is because of bonus points. If you win a match by a decision (7 point margin or less) all you will get are advancement point. If you win by major decision (8-14 point margin), technical fall ( 15 point margin), or pin, you will receive bonus points.
Basically the more wrestlers you have at the tournament, the better chance you have a placing high. The most wrestlers that advance the furthest for their team will usually do the best.
Like I said, those are not exact numbers, but hopefully it helps you understand tournament scoring a little better.
Some of them I don't get, like Maryland and UNC. I feel like UNC should be Quimby. Both are pretty corrupt. Clemson is weird too. Still hilarious. Especially VT, Miami, and UVA.
Speaking of Simpsons, does anyone play the iOS game Tapped Out?
Out of the 10 we are sending, I can see 3 to 5 making All-American and possibly 1-2 champions. They just have to be focused and ready to wrestle their asses off. Coach Dresser will have them ready, they just have to execute.
Only 5 teams sent all 10 wrestlers to this years NCAA Tournament. And wrestling powerhouse, Iowa, was not one of them.
i know! we're cletus!?!
lord help us we're cletus.
it's true. a lot of schools retire jerseys for guys who didnt do much more than all conference or 2nd or 3rd team all american. some schools retire one and dones after they spent all of 6 months on campus.
could natl scoring champ be considered a national award?
GO HOKIES!
Dunno where ESPN finds these people
That's gotta be Tookes right? He's the only one I can think of with dreads.
Al Golden shitting himself
How does Team scoring work in Nationals since most teams send different amount of players? Will it basically come down to those 5 or so schools that send all 10 or is it basically individual scoring from here on out?
How often do teams send all of their wrestlers?
Just curious, but when will the bracket actually be made?
70-80% of the total carries, or tailback touches? Loeffler has said the QB will part of his running game, and I'm hoping we'll see more non-option touches for Logan, like QB blast or power. I'd like to have one back carry the ball 55% of the time, Logan touch it 15% of the time, with the rest of the carries belonging to a change of pace back.

I think Pitt would Milhouse.
First Paul Johnson joins Twitter.
Now Frank Beamer has been spotted doing the Harlem Shake.
Is this real life?
Yes, yes it is.
Now, we all know the Harlem Shake has swept the nation, and just about every team has done their own version of the quirky dance video. In the past week, Miami and Georgia Tech have released their own. Among the most ridiculous highlights -- Miami running back Duke Johnson dressed as a penguin and Jackets players dancing around a cardboard cutout of their coach.
Both highly entertaining.
But not nearly as entertaining as watching Beamer, the dean of college football coaches, attempting to shimmy and shake to the music as he takes a casual stroll through the Hokies locker room. Here are a list of things I would have predicted seeing before this video came out:
Wings on pigs
Santa Claus being real
Duke winning a football national championship
Instead, Beamer got down with his bad self, taking a page out of the Frank Sinatra dance book to the tune of a 2013 viral sensation. Nobody can say where exactly he learned these moves, not even his son, assistant coach Shane Beamer -- who posted this on Twitter shortly after the video was posted:
Is it bad that my 3 yr old has watched the Harlem Shake video 7 times and keeps asking "What's Grand-dad doing?" Dancing sweetie, dancing
Beamer clearly has proven that there are no limits to what a man can do when the Harlem Shake starts blaring through the beat box.
You can't help but get down.
This makes more sense. I was 99% sure it wasn't football related but it was still baffling.
It was announced in August, but it won't open til 2015. But, it does show some measure of research collaboration between the two schools, and may in fact be some business regarding preparations for opening it.
Notre Dame Revrend Tim Lovejoy?
Who is Pitt, Cuse and Louisville? I think Notre Dame should be Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth from Futurama - almost sorta belongs with the rest, but not quite, plus he's old as crap and living in the past.
Why we have to look like the mountaineer's cousins?
went to r/cfb because of the Simpsons and found this:
Spoke with an individual familiar with the WVU/Big East legal battle. Said ND's early entrance to ACC could benefit Maryland's case.— Alex Prewitt (@alex_prewitt) March 12, 2013

So most points yield the team natty?
