For a shirt maybe you could have the iconic lunchpail on the front with "Bringing the Lunchpail..." and on the back could have "And The Hammer" with a pic of a RB bowling someone over kind of symbolizing the commitment to running the ball more with the new offensive staff
Went to high school with him and he was always a big scary dude, but very quite. If you get more linemen that look like that and actually put it together before their 5th year, that would be a dangerous line.
4 future NFLers and Kyle Fuller? Who are you referring to? I can see Exum and Kendall Fuller, could argue Kyle Fuller, but who else are you referring to??
I remember looking at one of my friends and we both had that face of, why the hell did they just play it again! Luckily it was one of the few times they played it near the end and it didn't result in a lose. Seen too many of those. It was pretty awesome watching LT3s touchdown from the North Endzone.
A lot of you guys are posting and saying that this coming season with all these changes will be a good year? Do you think that with all these changes, we will come right out and be good? No settling in? Learning (not really a new offense per say, but a different offense) with a different guy calling all the shots. I know defensively the talent is there, but I have a hard time believing that just after one spring and a some fall practices that we will have some amazing OL or that LT with be back in prime form. I definitely feel that these changes are better for the future, but realistically how effective do you think we'll be next year?
If only the old logo's were being retired, the bowl game helmet would make for a great alternate.
Could just have been the way Rivals was setting them up. Although it isn't a bad thing for people to come in with confidence.
To beat out 4 future NFLers and Kyle Fuller but more power to the guy. We need some more tough confident SOBs on this team. Jonathan M said similar comments on his rivals interview. Lets get after it boys!
That's the difference. Stiney can sell any kid VT pretty much
Hit em High, hit em low, hit em everywhere they go.
Mike O'Canned?
Ha just kidding. Good luck to him.
I love hearing these things from our younger guys. that drive and determination should help him a lot in his career at tech
I'm surprised O'Cain got the hook while Stinespring was spared. When describing the offense, they were inseparable to the point we called the OC O'Cainspring. Severing off one without the other seems like they are making O'Cain to be the scapegoat, while Stinespring was free of error. If I'm O'Cain, that would make me upset.
SSS - small sample size. Baseball has HUGE sample size, football does not. Also, batting and pitching is so isolated, 1 on 1 battles. It's easy to get so many statistics that prove individual worth. Football requires so much reliability on teammates, it's harder to prove individual worth. To me, the only statistics that are significant in football are QB efficiency/rating, Redzone efficiency, and TO margin. All the others simply indicate what one team does well, but does not necessarily correlate to wins and losses, since they're not directly related to points scored.
Any one of those would be far better than the crap they've put on the SGA Orange and Maroon Effect shirts the past few years. This year's slogans are no better either
even more productivity de-incentive. There goes my afternoon.
Cleats to Asses
that was supposed to be Kelly's choice of DC.
I strongly support him choosing Smart!
He should go for it ;)
The hammer should be yellow to really piss off the Bama fanbase!
plain, no-bullshit, no flashy uniforms, no shit-talking, very simple ... #BEATBAMA
VT will focus on doing what it takes in the off season to beat Alabama. If they make the strides that allow us to #BEATBAMA, then anything is possible. It will take 110% effort from EVERYONE in the off season, all the time, and in that game to #BEATBAMA. It will require OUTSTANDING play all around in at least two of the three: offense, defense, special teams .. and it will require GOOD play for the third.
It's the first game.
They need not focus on anything other than that first game.
Once we #BEATBAMA, we focus on the second game, and not anything else.
... plain and simple #BEATBAMA
That's the biggest thing to me, too.
I realize that as long as Beamer is the coach, the offensive philosophy will remain pretty much the same as it has always been, but I hope the performance on the field will improve so that they're not always relying on the defense.
To be honest, they could run an offense with two squirrels and five sloths and I'd be happy as long as they were putting points on the board and taking the pressure off the D.
I think that's reasonable.

I kind of like a theme of Bringing the Lunch Pail and the Hammer in a couple of ways. Of course we have the iconic defensive identity in the lunchpail and it seems with this new offensive staff we are looking to run the ball a lot and hammer opposing defenses using toughness along the offensive line. Reminds me a lot of old highschool coach saying "be the hammer and not the nail."
Hopefully the new staff brings that toughness on offense and I could see that with someone like Trey Edmunds hammering opposing defenders.
