When the Saban to the Cowboys rumors were going on, it was thought that Smart would take over as head coach if Saban were to leave
I know a guy that works for the athletic department and he said O'Cain is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I feel bad for him, but we all know it was time to move on.
Best of luck to him in the future.
Shows we need to get back to the old Virginia Tech style. Maybe build on that to something like Restore Order, Reach Victory, I don't know. I like the Time to Restore Order one, though.
They have FEI, S&P, etc. Baseball's statistical community has a huge head start on the other sports- Bill James started his work in 1977, while FO started in 2003. Plus baseball lends itself to statistics better than the other sports and has done a better job of tracking stats over time with box scores.
FO had VT's offense at 76th in efficiency this year. Last year they were 26th. In 2010 they were 11th.
I really like these!
Developing is one thing, but continuing to make adjustments both on the fly and in between games is crucial and I'm not so sure that was taking place. People can speculate all they want as to whether or not Whitfield screwed up LT3's mechanics, but the truth of the matter is a strong QB coach should be able to understand the basic mechanical fundamentals and make the necessary adjustments. It is very similar to a pitching coach in baseball; its not like Phillies Coach Rich Dubee looks at Roy Halladay in between starts and says, "Yep, you're good!"
There were clear, well documented errors surrounding LT3's throwing problems that you or I could point out from Row LL in the East Stands, yet all we saw & heard from MOC was how much GW might have effed up Logans mechanics not, "We're reviewing the tape and making adjustments during the week." Hopefully Loeffler brings that to the table.
And in regards to MOC vs. BS, MOC doesn't really bring much to the table outside of coaching QBs. BS is a phenomenal recruiter, and to my knowledge MOC has done diddly in terms of recruiting. So why bother keeping him around?
SNOT BUBBLES
On Kirby Smart-to-Eagles: They are interested in him & other college DCs. They doubt he would leave Bama. Nothing has happened at this point— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 18, 2013
Our offense was deceased and completely fictitious? Sounds about right.
huge offensive play! "GREAT SCOT!!!"
Just Win Baby!
First objective: Find two running backs who we can rotate in and out all season and get them as many reps as possible during the spring and August. I fully expect these RBs to be J.C. Coleman and Trey Edmunds (I don't expect Drew Harris to enroll in June.)
Second objective: Help Logan Thomas get his consistency back to what it was in 2011. I am very confident that Loeffler can do this. He coached Tom Brady and Chad Henne, two very consistent college quarterbacks (of course Henne isn't really panning it out in the NFL.)
Third objective: Teach our offensive linemen how to be tough. That's up to Grimes, though.
Beat Bama
Reloaded tour 2013
This guy reminds me A LOT of Antone Exum.
How about the same one they used in 1999? "Go 1-0. 12 times."
The Bob's: "Frank we discovered that O'cain was let go over a year ago but because of a pay roll error he was still getting checks and thought he was coaching games"
Frank: "So you fired him?"
The Bob's: "We called pay roll and fixed the glitch. We dont like to fire people its too confrontational."
DOMINATE!
A couple of the ideas around that:
- Bringing the Hammer and the Lunch Pail
- Time to Restore Order
- Forged Through the Fire, Stronger Than Ever
- Hokies on the Come up
- Loaded Cannons -- Skipper Reference
I can't believe no one has mentioned the 2008 UVA game! We beat UVA in heartbreaking fashion and we got into the ACC championship! I was in fifth grade at the time and I still remember when Purnell Sturdivant made that sack on Verica how loud Lane got! Maybe the loudest I've ever heard Lane and I've been going to almost all of the home games since 2004!
We did have a blocked punt for recovery for a touchdown, but that was againt Appalachian State.
Anyone else picture this guy with O'Cains face when they read that article?

Reports suggest Alabama's Kirby Smart has taking defensive coordinator job with the Philadelphia Eagles.— ajc sports editor (@ajcsportseditor) January 18, 2013
As I understand it, he's Saban's right-hand man.
...

time to restore order..... I really like that one. we've gotta get back to the old school tech football we all know and love
