These are the 2 games I was thinking about too.
I was a freshman in 99. We watched the WVU game at a friend's apartment off campus. I remember as soon as Shane Graham hit that field goal the entire town of Blacksburg erupted at once.
Syracuse was a night game at home, and it was COLD. We came out and dominated the entire game. 62-0.
well we can call Loeffler 'Great Scot'!
It's still beamerball but it needs to evolve. Frank siad it himself. You are always going forward or backwards.
O'Cain has had the same opportunities to secure other jobs that Sherman and Newsome have had. He just didn't land anything, and Beamer sat him down and made it clear that he wasn't going to be retained @VT.
Lets be clear. Sherman was fired. Newsome was fired. O'cain was fired. When your boss is helping you find a job at another company that's a lateral move or a demotion, YOU ARE BEING FIRED.
Don't worry, I'll remind them to #BEATBAMA
...maybe we should give them a post-it note or something
a positive spin.
key is /during the season/ O'Cain had no idea. Says something of his obliviousness perhaps. Or maybe like a good coach he didn't waste time thinking about getting fired, and instead focused on doing the best he could that season.
Beamer probably didn't start talking about the changes w/ the staff, encouraging them to look for other work, etc. until December.
O'Cain knew long before that final conversation, he's been interviewing for FCS jobs all winter.
That it also requires you to be up by 2 scores... which only happened thrice all season:
Home against Austin Peay
Home against Bowling Green
Home against Dook
Isn't one of them in Big Al's?
I remember looking at my friend and saying "Pick 6 on this play" and sure enough DJ Parker takes one to the house. Those were the days when you could say stuff like that or call a blocked kick and wholeheartedly believed that it was going to happen. Doesn't seem that way anymore.
Having numerous rival fans praising him is enough for me. Even if his team did go 3-9.
aka he couldn't find another job in time aka he sucks.
He knew, he's just trying to play the Manti Te'o "victim" card.
Campus opened at 10am today. They better get their shit together
I hope the VT powers at be are not over-looking the importance of this situation. For a recruit of his caliber (both out of HS & FUMA) and who has seemingly done everything he can in order to meet the expected criteria to be putting his entire college career in the hands of a few $35k/yr admissions clerks is nothing short of terrifying.
One of the major factors for our lack of production from the RBs this year was the fact that he wasn't eligible as initially planned. Let's all remember, that he and JC both were supposed to enroll LAST spring semester to get a jump-start to what was supposed to be a Double-Trouble (Carolina Panthers reference) type RB duo that would continue our tradition of an excellent running attack. But instead, we had to play Running Back roulette every week this past year.
If this slips through the cracks and we do end up losing him to (God-forbid) Miami or someone where we have to tackle instead of block for him this should be yet another rude awakening at how inept our 'commitment to a national championship' staff really is.
Bottom line...
These types of things just don't happen in Tuscaloosa.
#ALLMAROONEVERYTHING
but why does BS constantly get a pass??!! I would say MOC and KS were our better to offensive coaches. MOC developed TT and made LT3 a QB (instead of a TE). BS has 11+ years of disastrous offensive (un)coordinating. CFB didn't even fire Newsome...who was a total dumpster fire.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're making the changes. But why FIRE him? Give him the chance to retire or resign on his own...CFB gave everyone else the chance.
To me this just looks like CFB covering up for BS yet again (execution, talent gap, system, OCain's play calling, etc.).
and also at Clemson 2007. Overall the most exciting game I've ever watched.
DJ parker INT return TD
Eddie Royal punt return TD
Macho Harris Kick Return TD
IMO biggest display of beamerball ever
Tyrod's big breakout game in a hostile environment
How could you forget that awesome blocked punt!?!?!
The last true beamerball moment IMO.
Considering the 3 schools mention (VT, UVA, and Alabama), if we #BEATBAMA on August 31st, that should make the decision for him. UVA wouldn't know what to do with a lineman his size and VT keeps him close to home compared to 20 hours away in 'Bama.
“We’d go into the four corners, Dean Smith offense,” O’Cain said. “It’s about winning the game.”
He obviously thought that they were coaching basketball.
Hope they wind up fine. It was time to end.
As far as O'Cain being unaware, I'm happy he was focused on the game, but he has to be lying; this had to be in the back of his mind at the very least.
Anyways, best of luck to O'Cain, Sherman and even Newsome in future endeavors.
Beamer had to fire him. Newsome and Sherman 'left', and O'cain was openly courting other positions, but couldn't get hired (maybe because he isn't very good at his job?). And you KNEW Beamer wasn't going to get rid of his second son BS and he just moved him to another position. So, to make way for the new OC to bring in his people Beamer had to get rid of O'Cain.
The average fan who watches a fair amount of football, even if they don't pour over stats every week, could use the ole eye test (while not quantifiable but verified by relevant statistics) and see that the offense stunk on ice in 06, 07, and 2012.
Best moment in person: Dyrell Roberts' 98-yd kick return vs Alabama. It got me so excited because it made us all believe that we had a chance to win the game
Best moment on TV: 2003 miami for so many reasons, but mainly the Terror Dome and #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING
This one gets my vote. The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. I wonder if one of the goal posts is still in the duck pond.

zero defensive touchdowns in 2012. did we have any in 2011??
