And almost threw something at my TV. It's one thing to mix the Techs up, but never the boohoos.

Living in Atlanta affords me the opportunity to witness WAY more UGA football coverage than any non-UGA fan should see. Furthermore, most of my friends are UGA grads/fans. I can tell you that when news of VT looking to Bobo to guide our offense, my UGA buds made it a point to call/text/email me saying, "YOU CAN HAVE HIM!!"

UGA fans absolutely love Bobo from his playing days, but consider him their version of O'Cainspring. Ask any Georgia fan, and they'll tell you (ad nauseum) how they're only this close to winning a national championship, but the only thing holding them back is Bobo's playcalling.

While I believe that almost any OC hire for us will be an improvement, had we hired Bobo, the state of Georgia would've collectively cackled for a top tier program taking their trash off their hands for them. Glad it didn't work out.

Actually this may have been a "strategic" move by Beamer and Co. We are using a "multiple" approach. Basically we are sending planes everywhere and trying to lure OCs onto it with promises of bourbon and turkey legs. Bobo apparently was too smart to fall for it though...much like every single DC we faced this year...(except for Duke).

Everyone knows that a failed NFL coach would never make it in the NCAA.

oh...wait.

Let me get this straight. He lets them fly a plane down to pick him up, but doesn't even board the plane. I don't believe that for a second.

Arians was a terrible OC in Pittsburgh. Never liked running the ball and threw way too many screen passes. It seemed like he and Stinespring would have gotten along very well.

Get either Brown or Eddie going like they were in the beginning of the year and this is a different team. They have been colder than a witch's tit lately.

We would probably have a great chance at a tournament run... I still think this team could make some noise. Marshall Wood is coming back for the next game, and barring anymore serious injuries, I think we should have a pretty good squad. As others have said on the site, they just need to go back to the Iowa and Oklahoma State game film and see the effort they gave in those games. Effort equals success for us. I think Coach Johnson knows that, and that this team is capable of great things when they give their best effort, and that's precisely why he's benched Raines and Barksdale the last two games.

I have no doubt that Johnson would do the same to Erick Green if Green ever gave a less-than-stellar effort, which he would NEVER even let cross his mind.

he's probably got a lot of work cut out for him to try to hold onto our top recruits since the coaching shake up or lack thereof is looming. im glad to see hes out there working, we need to have all the guys from this strong class sign in february

He was notoriously passed over in Pittsburgh, another set of NFL hires look like they will pass him over again.

I would offer him the OL/OC job with an understanding, that at age 53, he's got a great shot at being HC at VT for nearly a decade after Beamer retires. Could be a nice bridge between Frank and Shane.

I'm aware Stiney didn't call plays, sorry should have edited myself more carefully. Still on my first cup of joe. Like him as a recruiter and line coach, just don't like him as an OC (regardless of his responsibilities)

MOC did. To me, the guy who calls plays owns the offense. From what I saw, last years debacle was a lot more MOC than Stiney.

Not that Stiney was ever a good playcaller or whatever other duties an OC does, but people get really caught up on Stiney. I think that's misdirected, he's a great recruiter and a solid OL coach.

I'm okay with him out recruiting, its his strongest attribute.

Him playcalling? Thats an entirely different discussion which I believe HokieNation has exhausted at this point...

I feel obligated to ask the question we are all wondering: source?

I don't think anyone was hoping for him to be fired (at least any sensible fan). He is a great recruiter and the ideal situation has always been for him to take a more administrative role and continue assisting the team as a recruiter.

At the very least he just needs to be relieved of his OC duty.

and I'm sure those 'feelers' came back negative. Arians will probably be an NFL HC in the next two years. Watching him and his team rally as his Chuck Pagano fought cancer was really impressive. This guy has head coach written all over him. I think he'd be a (more) realistic candidate for Beamer's position.

....leader in the clubhouse for that Appy State position but their current OC came in with a strong interview and stole the job.

MOC (or, as some boards call him "My Cocaine") is a legit HC candidate at the FCS level. He's not an awful QB coach either, but, as Clemson fans warned us, calling plays and running an offense isn't his strong suit.

this made me spit out some coffee a little. funny crap.

CFB needs to find the next Pep before he makes it big. Need someone with potential and a HC who understands how to hire him.
