I would love to see us in a pro style offense. Edmunds and Harris would be a perfect one-two punch for this system, and if we can get an OL coach that teaches the OL to be mean and how to block, we can score and control the clock.

Whether or not Stiney remaining on staff is a cause for sis function is a personality call Beamer needs to make it. At a distance, Stiney seems like the type of guy who can handle it. He's all VT, with his wife's situation and all. Gotta trust on this one since neither are optimal situations.

It is more likely that the retraction emerges than O'Cain "emerging "as a serious candidate at Charleston So. If they want to get proactive about it they could print the retraction first and the insider scoop later so it won't be such a waste of time for us....

Well, that's the beauty of going for JUCO players, they generally only have 2 years left.
That being said, I think we have a couple walk-ons who are contributing much more than expected, and I think they might be deserving of scholarships by the end of this season if they keep it up. Definitely Christian Beyer, at least.

Granted, it was with another D1 recruit, and Carliss was coming back from injury, but I have recently tempered my expectations of him and am hoping he proves me wrong. He's very, very athletic and can make plays, it's just his ability to consistently throw at the needed level that worries me. Sound familiar?

You hit the nail on the head. We didn't want to pick up players just to have bodies, and then be stuck with them for the next few years. James Johnson knew we'd be limited, but wasn't going to jeopardize the future success of the team just to have a couple more guys this year.
I like Browns aggressive, and it will start to fall. I'd much rather have him try that than us pass it around the arc and force up a prayer as the shot clock expires. To be successful, we don't just need Erick and Jarell, we need Robert playing well too. The offense can't rely on just two people. In the game against Boston College, Erick had 24 and Jarell had 21 but it still wasn't enough to win the game. I think this game might have given us the confidence we need, I'm hopeful, at least.
I think we need a little more work on our 2-3 zone but it was very successful. More practice with it should allow us to understand how active everyone must be for it to work.
The thing that I've always hated about our use of him is that we act like he's Cam Newton and run all of these QB runs. He isn't a great runner, he just doesn't have any moves other than run the guy over. What he does have is a huge arm with no accuracy, that's what they should be working on in the offseason, not these read-option plays.
And we have a few winnable games coming up. If we can just pull it together here we can salvage something out this season.

Virginia Tech: While there is a lot of buzz and a couple of reports that have Syracuse offensive line coach Greg Adkins accepting the offensive line job at Virginia Tech, I have learned early Sunday morning that Adkins has not accepted any job at this point.
