I think Kendall is going to be a beast for us, I can't wait too see him on the field
A good/great coach can take a system they understand very well adapted it and make changes to correct for weakness and teach up his players....
Cross fingers
when that time comes, i am fully prepared to stage a coup to get #BUD4HC ... that man is more responsible for VT's success than probably anyone. i don't really care about any of his personal shit. the man has got it done on the field. he has earned his shot as VT head coach, if he wants it. move torrian gray to DC
We can't let this thread get bumped off the front page! It's too epic!

"The East defeated the West with the help of a stingy defensive effort. The West had only allowed 90 yards of total offense. Credit goes to players such as Muhammad, USC commit Kenny Bigelow (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian) and defensive backs in Virginia Tech commit Kendall Fuller (Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Georgia commit Tray Matthews (Newnan, Ga./Newnan)"

Makes me think of when I first started playing NCAA football video games....Run the QB all the time keep calling the same play over and over again. Please be a change in the offense.
OMG! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!
Do we want a guy who took 7+ years in the league to figure out he needed watch game film and prep for games as an OC or Offensive Staff member? Dont get me wrong I love what he did for our program but he may not have all x's and o's figured out.
Do you mean the Browns new head coach and future 10 time Super Bowl winner?
I will watch the game Monday and if bandwidth permits, I will try to break it down. The big catch is that I am 100 percent sure that Nick Saban takes the Cowboys job if Bama beats Notre Dame, and that is why you have not heard the Cowboys mentioned with firing Garrett yet or one of the big names that have been tied to other openings.
Lets get the Offense staff figured out first then worry about this stuff
To be honest I'm not sure that this is a "slump" for Brown. For the majority of last year his jump shot was below average and he was consistently wild on offense while also being a defensive liability. For the first few weeks of the season he did play well and certainly more under control, but I think Robert is actually more the player that we're seeing now than what we saw at the beginning of the season. I just don't think Brown will ever be anything more than an average ACC player.
Eddie does seem to be in a slump, though, and I do think he's talented enough of a player to turn things around. He's the kind of guy that makes a three and suddenly he's got 9 points in 2 minutes.
JVZ has got to be the most improved player in the program right now, and he really battled inside today and wasn't overmatched by the more seasoned Len.
As for Beyer, he does play harder than Raines but he is just too undersized and unathletic to be playing significant minutes in the ACC. I love the kid and he's doing the best he can (he definitely does help on the glass), but I think the fact that he's playing a decent amount really shows how much of a pure talent problem this team has.
Simply put, we're not talented enough to win more than 5 or 6 games in the ACC right now. Put that together with way too many defensive breakdowns and poor rotations and you get three 20+ points losses in a row to teams that will probably be squarely on the bubble come March (maybe with the exception of UMD).
This post could have been one sentence long.
"TITLE: 2013 Special Teams
They need to be better."
I think we've become lazy - as some have said we don't use our best players on the blocking units anymore and it feels as if we've simply transitioned into focusing purely on the PK and field position game. That's NOT what Beamerball is. I sometimes wonder if it isn't Beamer's fault that the special teams has been lacking in recent years. Because, if you recall, when Beamerball was rising to prominence and getting national attention, Beamer traveled to several schools and gave clinics on special teams, showing how we did everything so well.
That then leads to ECU and other teams -- who have NO business getting by our punt protection -- blocking our kicks in crucial gametime situations.
I think he's going to finish out his contract. He knows that once he retires it's going to be between his son and Foster, and I don't think he wants to make that choice right now. And for the record, I think Foster should get it, but I'm not sure he will.
and while we are on the subject I plan to cut up an ever snap video of the spring game this year. should be an exciting off-season!
that's a good idea. I'll record the game and cut it up at some point.
If VT is gonna run an inept offense, might as well have Michael and Marcus up there in the box. Can't do worse than O'Cainspring.
The Ron Mexico Offense: SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE.
May be too much to ask for, but is there any chance we could get a game film review of the BCSCG, focusing on Alabama? What they run, how VT could match up, etc?
Also, thanks for the reviews this year. They're definitely the best breakdown of the game I've seen.
I am man enough to admit that my eyes welled up a bit at the Tweedy paragraph. Wins and Losses aside, THAT is what college ball is all about. A relatively unheralded redshirt senior sticking it out through thick and thin, and being rewarded with the opportunity to step on the field and makes some plays that help the team win, and really stick out to those watching closely enough. I hope Alonzo is as proud of that as we are, and he can share stories with his kids and grandkids... no awards or rings - but to be on the field in Maroon and Orange making plays. I f*ckin love college football. I f*ckin love VT. BEAT BAMA!
retire ... poor health. he has 3 more yrs before he leaves, good health willing.
from what i've heard he doesn't want to be AD.
I personally think Beamerball.com is one of the most professional, cleanest looking websites on the internet. That's just me though.
I agree.

He hates "schmoozing" with older alumni, and that is a major part of being a HC. I would love Bud to be HC at VT, but the HC has to be more of a politician in today's world.
The next HC will probably be Shane or Torrian in a couple of years w/ Torrian Gray or another ex-player moving to DC & someone else who's not on the staff at OC.
