Coworker? You mean his boss right? It's possible but more likely that he ends up at cal or as the head coach at Louisiana tech...I have a feeling that it's just wishful thinking for all of us..maybe I'm wrong
One of Tony Franklin's buddies and co-workers just got hired to be the headcoach at Cal. I think that's a better sign that we may somehow get Franklin...
They are in gods conference, right Matt?
And they will make it rain for someone
.. But aside from that, there are too many challenges for that program to ever meet expectations..it isn't that great of a job other than the money
One can only hope.
This is according to footballscoop.com
"Cal: We have learned that Sonny Dykes will be named head coach at Cal. We're told to look for an announcement "within 24 hours". "
We'll see what Tony Franklin's next move is. If he's hired as part of Dykes' staff at Cal, then I have to assume he's not coming to Tech.
He turned Boston College from a wildly inconsistent program with a few good seasons into an annual contender.
In the 54 years before O'Brien, BC played in 7 bowls, all coming within the previous 16 years and 3 during Flutie's last 3 years.
After 2 down seasons, he took them to 8 straight bowls, winning the last 7, with 8+wins each of the last 6, culminating in a 10-3 campaign in 2003 before he left for NC State.
Once in Raleigh, he went to 4 bowls in his 6 years at the school, worst record of 5-7, best of 9-4. Essentially average, for the ACC.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him get picked up by an NIU or Kent State caliber program.
4 bowl games in his 6 years as HC, including the last 3. 2/3.
Average number of bowl-eligible teams from the ACC during that span? 8.5. Take out the 3 that didn't go bowling because of postseason bans, and that number drops to 8.
Out of 12 teams, that makes 2/3. An "average" ACC school goes to a bowl 2 out of 3 years.
Wow, that actually works out a lot nicer than I had expected.
With the amount of money that schools are shelling out for coaches though his resume might force him to spend some time as an assisstant.
How much longer can Bud Foster coach great defenses that keep us in games just so that the offense can cut their feet out from under them by not producing points?
Above average. Bowl team 3/4 years right?
No joke. My buddy's parents live outside of Orlando, and he flies SHD->MCO direct when the fares are low.

Has anybody found any affordable flights out of DC or Charlottesville? I suppose Richmond would be an option too, haven't checked there yet. Everything is so expensive right now, and I doubt its gonna get cheaper as we get closer to the game.

Did you just come in here to post that awful pun? Thanks for the laugh before my math exam.
Kid dropped in several pretty over-the-shoulder balls. Hit his TE in the seam in stride. Tough throws to make. He looks off coverage a few times too. Pretty advanced stuff for a high school sophomore. Interesting prospect. Not sure if we'd take 3 QBs in this class.
Sam Rogers is a flat out winner. Was at this game a couple weeks ago. He completely took over (24-34 235 yds passing, 200 yds rushing, 3 TD's) His run @ around 0:30 is what he's all about. Definitely an underrated kid with alot of upside.
Odd, I'd always heard they got moldy on the inside, but maybe that's a knock-off, copy-cat brand...
I have a Tervis VT cup here in Honduras and it is the only thing I drink Coke, iced tea, water or whatever from. Never sweats, tough as nails, washes easy, my dog has chewed on it, kids have knocked it on the floor, and it just won't die.
It is high quality material and I am getting a new one next year when we get back to the States. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for extended and satisfying beverage use. Now if just want to decorate with Hokie cups, cannot help you, our supply of stadium cups is down to 4 and we won't have anymore til next season. (not to mention shipping from Central America stinks)
He will almost certainly pick up a head coaching gig, if not at a BCS school then at one of these top tier non-AQ teams losing their coaches to BCS teams. He was let go for merely being average in the ACC, not an entirely terrible indictment
I think the UT fans would settle for "relevant" or "competitive" after the past 5 years of suffering. We howl about one year of difficulties, and they are not that long removed from winning the National Championship. UT has practically fallen off the map, losing to Vandy, and it was not even close. That would have been unthinkable 10 years ago.
There aren't' the words to describe how awesome that is.
We ACC-epted. Now its time to SEC-ede. The beneficial reasons are endless. Not going to go into them all.

It looks like Franklin is going with Dykes. We'll probably know for sure tomorrow. If he is, I think he's out of the picture.
