While this event is already stupid enough, there are people on there saying it's okay to throw paper airplanes and boo the team. I really have no idea how to argue with these idiots so I'm just going to let this go before I hurt someone.

I read in a piece by Andy Bitter earlier in the year that Marcus Davis said that the players don't agree with some of the play calls so yes changes definately need to be made.

Don't forget Chad 'Swag' Kelly.

Wear maroon, or don't go. It's that simple. (I'm going to assume this clown throws paper planes during the game too.)

Well, that's just... kinda really dumb. I mean, I liked the Black uni's from the Boise State game, but FSU does the blackout too soooo.... I'm usually about the #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING, but when we play FSU or BC I'm ok with the idea of wearing Orange. Basically, I think of it as, if they see the color (or very close to it) at home, then we as fans, should avoid it when they visit, but that's kinda just me overthinking it.I always thought it was funny to watch UVA wear all Orange when we play them. Tech fans wear Maroon and it looks like a home game in Scott Stadium. All that said, when in doubt, #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING

Because I was invited to one that is only involving about 400 students... but it's growing...

Virginia Tech Football: Blackout 2012

Guys, I have a great idea. So, Virginia Tech has done this in the past, but this year it's not official. But, I say for the Florida State game we make our own Blackout! Everyone wears black to the stadium (the students at least). It doesn't matter, but the new Enter Sandman shirts would look cool all in unison. SPREAD THE WORD!!! Tell as many of your friends and upperclassmen as you can! I want this to spread big!

Currently over 1,700 people are invited to this event.

Well if you can't see it, some freshman is trying to get everyone to wear black to the Florida State game because the newest bookstore shirts are black. He claims it would be "hype" and we could accent it with "maroon and orange hats."

I'm not sure if I agree Holmes is just a specific down and distance back. I can't think of one specific situation where I'd take Holmes over the field. He hasn't powered his way through holes, and over blockers like a typical third-down back would.

I think at the end of the day J.C. is the better option because he has the athleticism and speed to overcome the deficiencies of an offensive line that struggles as a group to reestablish a new line of scrimmage a yard up the field. Coleman gets to and through the hole or corner quickly, has the ability to win one-on-one battles against the unblocked defender, and can take it to the distance.

Holmes to me is more methodical, but runs well when the line is doing their job.

Only the coaches can answer your question about Coleman on the slot. Showing a wrinkle or two off that Jet action probably needs to happen to keep defenses honest, but at the end of the day if they cutback on the motion/pre-snap movement like against Duke, I'm fine with that. Actually, I'd prefer it because it's straight forward and it worked. There's too much going on with the offense as it is, doing less not more is the key.

This pisses me off so much, I'm currently a freshman too and I've seen these posts all over our Facebook group. The worst part is, he deletes all of my #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING comments.

Herbstreet's stain a** even had him on 'breakout player' watch in the pre-season.

of it is packaged based at the beginning of the game so that does dictate who "technically" gets the start and who doesn't

Not only give JC the ball from the backfield to establish the run... I want to see us use him more in the slot like we have, but not on those sweeps and reverses that hardly net us any yards -- get him on a quick 7-yard in route or a slant pattern and hit him with a pass in space. Guarantee he can make a few men miss and make it go for 20+ yards at least twice per game.

I agree Holmes isn't terrible, he just hasn't shown the same flash that JC has... Holmes is more of a specific down&distance back whereas JC can play every down.

Also, about him lined up in the slot, why don't we ever throw him the ball in space instead of just handing it off on jet sweeps and all that BS that rarely works?

I think it would be fair enough if they started against Clemson exactly as they did against Duke, Gregory lined up in the backfield, J.C. on the field as the motion man in the slot.

I agree though, Coleman and LT3 have to get the bulk of the carries. It's nothing against Holmes, I think he's shown his upside (against Cincinnati in the second half), but Coleman is a homerun threat on an offense without many homerun threats. He needs to be on the field and be lathered up with carries.
