I am hopeful that we see the Hokies come out and run 4-5 basic plays all game long, but out of each formation, especially the pistol. I want to see the offensive line really coming off the ball, and I will be keeping a close eye on Benedict to figure out how he went from being the starter all through camp, and struggles in one scrimmage aside, how he then didn't get a snap. I want to see them run the football without Thomas being exposed, and then I want deep play action passes to get up early and quickly.

Defensively, I want to see pass rush with four. VIOLENT hand movement. There was too little of a four man rush at the end against Georgia Tech.

If the game isn't out of hand at the half, I won't be happy. I really want Leal, Knowles, Stanford, Asante, Benedict, Gibson, Shuman, RVD, Frye, Cole, Clarke, Harley, McCray, Tookes, Manning, and Roth as much work as possible,

Great job guys.

My bold prediction for the game this Saturday....we shut Peay out

I figure our 2nd and 3rd string defenses could make this offense look pretty bad. That being said, I agree that the most important thing that I'd like to see VT take out of this are no major injuries

I'm hoping this D can mirror the performance against Duke in 2005 when the they allowed 10 fewer yards than the Hokies had points.

Excellent work, guys... This may have just become my new favorite thing.

Keep it up!

Also, don't know when you guys recorded this, but Nick Saban came out publicly and scolded the media about disrespecting the Hilltoppers (Alabama's next game)... So you guys better be careful or you might have Saban breathing down your necks. Don't dis WKU! Haha

"[T]he offensive system is still a hodgepodge of different formations and fundamental elements..."

Is it?

From what I saw we're basically using the same personnel across three formations, which the exception being we sub in a FB for the third WR in I Form and sub in a TE for the FB in Ace. This seems way more cohesive than what we saw circa 2006-2009, where we were throwing six and seven looks at opposing Ds every game.

You break down Xs and Os way, way better than I do (or anyone else I've ever read anywhere on a Hokie blog does), so you understand the nuances between Gun, Pistol, and I Form (well, we all should understand the difference between Gun and I, but y'know...) better than most. But it seems like we're basing this year's offense around the same nucleus of players with very little substitution (besides the normal rotation through the depth chart throughout the game to keep everyone fresh for the 4th quarter), and the offense builds on itself as the game goes on.

And really, just a freaking amazing breakdown.

Yeah, I love that commercial. And I believe someone mentioned it above.

Also, I agree that we could embarass the heck out of these two teams.

Words cannot express how much I truly love this. A million points to you, Box.

Lane is a square stadium. the wave only ever really works in bowl stadiums (because bowls dont have sharp corners, in case you forgot your basic shapes)

I didnt even realize people were trying to start the wave monday, i was too focused on the game

Kansas State -6.5 - Miami is going to have a tough season

OSU -17.5 - Chalk

TXAM -1.5 - I'll take the home team in this one. Will Muschamp is clueless on how to score points

LSU -23.5 - Washinton is not going to be good enough to hang on the road

Nebraska -5.5 - UCLA looked really good last week vs. Rice but so did Nebraska

UGA -1.5 - I don't think Mizzou stands a chance in this one, even at home

KSU -6.5
OSU -17.5
UF +1.5
UW +23.5
Nebraska -5
Missouri +1.5

I don't feel good about them. I could easily go 0-6.

i was thinking about maybe putting hot pie from game of thrones up there with a top hat but i've never photoshopped anything in my life and i'm at work anyway.
i want to peay on you plus a million. points awarded for colonel sanders as well.

was from the OP until just now. So instead of self-effacing humor, this comment seemed like total douchebaggery for a solid day. Glad I figured it out.

The image is funny though.

KSU - One does not simply waltz into Manhattan, KS and win. Ask RG3 last year. And this year's Miami squad is not nearly as talented as Baylor

tOSU - Buckeyes are that much better. Although if UCF can put it off, let the BCS-buster talk commence.

a&m - Muschamp has gotta get his shut together soon.

Huskies - Keith Price will keep them in it for at least a half, but i don't see them losing by more than 3 touchdowns.

Huskers - Because we should all know never to trust Jim Mora Jr. ever.

Dawgs - I don't think Missouri will be bad in the SEC East. But they won't win this game.

Get a pint or similarly flat-shaped (i.e. 500 ml) bottle. Stick it half-way down your pants on the back side, with a loose-fitting shirt and jacket (or sweatshirt) over it. Completely unnoticeable--has never failed for me! (Of course, I'm now a responsible parent, so I don't do this any more, but it always worked when I did!). I agree with the others that noted it's best to enter when it's crowded, just in case.

the VA Tech Hyundai commercial right after halftime? Just another reminder that we're going to own both these teams!

After seeing both these, Pitt is fresh meat and Cincy will be dead in the water against our D. Warm up the second team.
