For the gravity of the crimes allowed, it is fair. For the football players, alumni, fans, and people of Pennsylvania, it sucks and is completely unfair. They had no idea that Sandusky was a criminal, yet their whole Fall season of happiness has been ripped from them. Could you imagine being a PSU fan, or if this happened at VT? VT football gets me through year after year, always looking forward to Labor Day weekend. Now that's gone for PSU fans. All that's left is sadness and disappointment.

Let's face it, PSU is not at the advantage USC was when they got their 2 year ban. USC was still able to recruit, because they're the prime school of the PAC-10/12. The B1G has OSU, Wisconsin, UMich, and Nebraska. USC does not have the stigma PSU will have. What recruit wants to go play for the school known for 12 year old boy rape? PSU football is over, at least it will be irrelevant for the next couple of decades. This is why PSU fans are having a hard time handling it.

Would slide to DE like he did last year. Am curious to see how this unfolds. Don't think Fuller was joking since I don't think our coaches would put our players in the middle of a chess game (if it were one) -- as they say, too many cooks spoil the soup (or chess game in this case).

I am not sure what they will do. Wilson's best game last year came against Georgia Tech (he played just as much as Gayle) so I am sure he is in the mix. I think Maddy plays much more this year against GT. Marshall really isn't as good a fit. He is a chase the ball player and tends to get out of position against this kind of look, plus he plays with a higher pad level.

McCray could really be a difference maker if he has turned a corner mentally. GT would have a tough time dealing with his size and quickness on the edge.

Because they change their whole defense against Georgia Tech. The corners play cover two, which basically makes them wide linebackers. The safeties have pitch, but stay deeper than the deepest man until they confirm that the QB has passed the line of scrimmage. The difference is that WR's can't cut block corners, while the whip is fair game.

The orange jerseys for the Hokies have a severe glitch in that the sleeve numbers are on the upper arm AND the tops of the shoulders (on my PS3 at least). Poor QC.

However, that's a small flaw, and while I agree with hokienomics that the guys who play online are complete chodes, I do think it's a pretty solid game overall.

Just as interesting to see who the starting 4 on the d-line will be. My guess is Marshall-D.Hop-Collins-Gayle, with some liberal subbing of T. Wilson at end, maybe sliding Marshall in some, and getting A. Hop out there if he's good to go. Gotta be effective in stopping the middle play if you have two 300+ space eaters out there.

Kyle is our best defensive player - why would our coaches want him #chillin against GT's non-existant passing game?

Speed, intelligence, vision, and tackling are the keys to defending the option at the 2nd level, and Kyle is exceptional at all of that.

Let's keep coach-decision-making-bashing to a minimum considering it's only July 23.

I'd love for Tweedy to step up and take over at Whip, but it doesn't seem that's happening. I guess he's got August to make it happen.

I do remember last year CBF made some 'crazy' moves like putting Collins at DT and Fuller Whip - that led to one of the better performances by our defense against GT's option. Some of that was probably due to injuries, but the coaches are seemingly going for speed + sure tackling across the board in these match ups with GT's wishbone spread, even more so than against normal offenses and read-option spreads.

Fuck, you really had to remind me about that, didn't you? Thanks -_-

I hope that 60 million is going to the victims or to charities and not to the NCAA's wallet.

Also remember that the forums are a small percentage of the PSU community. While their words are horrid and reflect badly on PSU, I hope they're not representing the majority.

PSU has had their high points and their low points. Right now this is a low point.

This is a must win game and we have to put arguably a top 3 defensive player on our team in a position to make plays, and the way we have played GT the past couple years I have to trust Foster and Gray on this one. I also agree about the injury bug its always usually a freak play that can happen anywhere.

Injury arguments never do it for me, football is a freak sport, you can get injured at any position at any time. Are two seniors really available? G-W, the Whip with the most experience, is still recovering from Lisfranc. He missed time during spring. While Tweedy is a senior, and he's gotten some significant playing time, I believe he's only started one game (BC last year). Maybe he can build on a good spring and earn Foster's trust this August.

Matching up against GT I think Fuller will have a bigger impact at Whip than corner. I don't believe Fuller is the one making the calls and coverage adjustments. Also, this spring Foster and Torrian made it a point of emphasis to play all the defensive backs at as many different positions as they'd fit. Having a plug-and-play secondary seemed like a plan all along, so I don't think it hurts chemistry.

If we want to play for an ACC Championship, Georgia Tech is as close to a must win game as we've had. If we lose to them, we need to run the rest our conference schedule, that's not likely considering we draw Clemson and FSU. Also, GT would need to drop two ACC games. Pull out all the stops, one game season, win it, then worry about the remaining 11.

Against any other team I would agree but against GT I want Fuller at Whip. He has a great head on his shoulders and will be great against the triple option. GT lost their 2 starting WRs. Pair that with the limited amount of passing they do and I think Fuller would be wasted on only one side of the field.

I can see GW giving me fits and being out of position...but maybe I am not giving Tweedy enough credit. I could see him doing well in this game but, the coaches made their decision.

I am curious as to who will fill in at corner. Would be good to keep as much experience we have at safety for this game. I would be OK with starting someone with a little less experience at corner if it means having a more seasoned player on Washington.

I think the penalties are fair, however, I would have also liked a television ban for at least a year. I very much agree with the vacation of wins as the school made it very clear that Mr. Paterno breaking Eddie Robinson's all-time wins record was the only thing that was important to them.

I'm never buying another one of these again. There was no improvement at all from last year. They advertised that the passing game is new and improved. You still can't throw to guys in man coverage who have a step on the DB because he will make a no look superman style interception out of nowhere. You can't throw within 50 feet of a linebacker in zone coverage or they will do the same. It's just ridiculous. And the blocking has always been atrocious. You think you have a lead blocker and you just need to follow him past the safety and you're home free? Wrong, because the guy will turn around and block a linebacker who has no chance of catching up to you. Don't bother blocking the fullback, because he's not even going to touch the defenders. That all seems like it should be a pretty simple fix. But they don't, and now they're not getting my money anymore.

I also can't stand the nerds who play online.

How about it? Our offense is a mix of styles, and when it works [like last year...] it's a monster!

I'm torn on two variants:
FranCainStine
Or
Frankainstine

Thoughts?

possibly a well placed feint to the left, jab with the right? Let GT think we're moving one of our best coverage guys to whip, get CPJ thinking about maybe trying out our younger guys in the secondary, and then finding out that Fuller is in the secondary, not at whip? You know somebody in Blacksburg wants to mess with as many minds in the GT coaches office as possible, and I'd never underestimate the chess match that goes on at these dog and pony kickoff shows.

Who hits the doors, who stays? Do schools start making contacts (overt or covert) to current players? The current roster is essentially free agents. Does VT stand to reap any transfers from State College? Interesting days ahead in PSU-land.

I want Fuller at corner. Why put him inside where he is at higher risk of getting hurt when you have two f'n seniors, one of whom is a 2 year starter and the other "had a great spring" available? That also puts your secondary another week behind schedule for developing chemistry. Just a terrible choice by the coaching staff if it comes to pass.

This is a slap on the wrist. USC got a two year postseason ban, PSU got 4. The $60 mil fine is 1/3 of total donations to the school last year alone. Vacated wins dont matter for shit. The scholly losses will have the most effect, rendering them uncompetitive for the foreseeable future, but hey, they deserve nothing less.

The night JoePa was fired and their students rioted, I thought to myself; "would that be us?" Maybe, but I'm confident we as a fanbase would not have taken things this far. An "honor guard" protecting the statue? Look at their message boards, trying to turn things around on the victims, insulting their character and questioning why it took so long for any of them to come forward, shameful. They still wont admit there's any evidence against anybody and they think this is all the media attacking them and their deified coach, while the trial is seen as a grand scheme by the victims to get paid.

Shame on you Penn State, you as a fanbase are making this worse than it has to be. I hope you go 0-12 for the next 14 years.
