I did hear the same thing that Watford was promised playing time which is why we saw him play in so many games. When you go back and look at that decision it was a terrible one as each time he came in he ruined what momentum UVA had in it's game by making poor decisions.
About the National Media. We should be "happy" we are relevant in basketball...No. I'm sorry, but I grew up on tobacco road with Duke/State/Carolina always being in the news locally and nationally, and quite frankly I love college basketball because I grew up on Tobacco Road. I expect more than 1 tournament appearance in a decade. We have only had 8 appearances ever (about once a decade, to be precise) and have only even made it to the Sweet 16/Elite 8 once. All the talking heads that wouldn't step foot in Blacksburg if it wasn't a football game need to shut up. They don't know us. I don't like the way that Jim Weaver handled the firing, in fact it really bothers me. But I feel it needed to happen.
But hey, Jim Rome and Feinstein say we shouldn't have fired Seth, so what do I know?

that said his time was up. if you are going to be an ass to your coaches, admin, players and other league coaches, you better f'ng win .. he didnt' win enough. chased off coaches, almost chased off players and wouldn't change.
the names i am hearing that are giving a listen or even showing interest leave me optimistic that tech will be fine and most have proven to be better at x's and o's.
i think he conned a lot of people into thinking he was better than he was when it was all said and done. he is a slightly above avg coach and took the tech program to slightly above avg. lawd knows after rickey stokes, that's some work, but i for one think the program can be better and certainly have someone who isn't ass while being it.

I never like bringing racism into the picture but I was told by a very reliable source that he was using the old "don't you want to play for an african american coach instead of an old white guy". He secured a very big commit in 2011 and 2 in 2012 this way... Classless...

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing how ML promised David Watford playing time as a true freshman to get him to commit. And by playing time, he evidently meant sitting behind Mike Rocco for 3 years.
Where have we heard this? Recruits well, sycophantic to the Media and fans, favors players, forms divides, and is a self-indulgent A-hole with an agenda. Oh, well maybe Greenberg could find a job as a PR consultant with UVA.
There was a kid who both his parents went to VT and Al Groh recruited him as a punter. VT wouldn't give him a scholarship rather a chance for a walk on scholarship. Al gave him a scholarship. He chose UVA over VT (moroon). Since London came to town he played 1 season with UVA and since has left the program. He was told his chance to punt was always right around the corner but it never game. He broke a bone in his foot in practice one day and was out for the year. London then tells him "oh man that's a shame I was going to have you punt the next game". I think that is when he realized what type of program London was running and got out. I've heard from lots of kids there he is lying to the players to get them to come to UVA and then doing what he wants.
He might be a motivator and decent recruiter but if he is lying to these kids eventually the bottom will drop out and word will get around. Could be why we are seeing a great recruiting year for VT. I'm sure our coaches know this is going on and are telling those recruits.
I've heard he refers to VT as the school with the old white coaches....lol Trying anything to keep those players from coming to VT. Good luck with that

hearing comments on the NCAA tournament selection shows about how Seth hadn't endeared himself to the selection committee with his comments, which might have influenced a couple of VT's non-selections. So let's move on, hope that Weaver gets his AD-family-type guy, and we start the rebuilding process. And maybe we get to see Seth as a talking-head on the four letter or CBS.
Being in the black is huge. For one, it means we can actually have sports like women's lax. Maryland just recently cancelled like 4 sports programs. Second, the athletic department gives a pretty sizable donation to the university every year. This wouldn't be possible if Weaver was trying to scrape together enough money to fund a women's sport that draws 50 fans per year. As for the athletic department being a marketing expense for the school, a lot of people don't realize that the athletic department is 100% privately funded. NO money from the university goes towards it.
Also, it wasn't that long ago that Lane Stadium had wooden bleachers in the south endzone...
