6'2", 205lbs, and runs 4.5? Damn, and that's before he gets Gentified. Ok, he's got enough skills to play anywhere from backer to free safety to wide receiver. If he has coverage skills, hell, he could be corner. Very nice get early.
the higher rated recruits .. maybe some of these kids dig on the attention .. some types (like me) would want to wrap something like this up sooner than later so that they can move on with life .. it's a big decision but i couldn't imagine getting calls and visits for a year (or longer) until a decision is made .. and sometimes after unless you just shut them down .. kendall fuller for example, i'd get some visits in, make a spring game or so, get in a fall visit, narrow the list, and commit to virginia tech 30 minutes before kickoff of the clemson game :)
the acc will be lucky to be 4th in tv contracts with a huge drop from 1-3 to the acc and big12. none of those schools would even consider taking less money to go to the acc.
uk can own basketball in their football conference, why would they leave, if all things were equal?
the acc is pinched in who they can take.
is not leaving.
aau affiliations and way more cash.
never, gonna happen.
what fb schools are left that aren't taken by the sec or b10 (too much money to leave those conferences) that fit the acc academic footprint qualifications?
were basketball centric. It is what the conference was built on, but the quality of basketball has severely weakened since the 1st expansion. I don't believe the addition of football schools VT, Miami, and BC's is at fault, as the main reason for the loss of basketball quality is the decline of WF, GT, NC State, and Maryland programs. Although basketball doesn't make money like football, I think the ACC's goal is to add top-tier basketball programs with solid football programs. ND and UConn fit that mold. Maybe U. of Kentucky or Vandy, if they could pry a team from "God's Conference." Louisville and Cincinnati are possible as well. I really doubt they add sub-tier basketball programs like PSU and Rutgers, but we'll see.
Excellent points
fisher was perceived to be a future hokie .. this came as no surprise and it's a great catch so early. i think that some of these kids would rather not deal with the crap of being recruited ..
Pretty great grab. But I always get nervous when kids sign so early, before they can even go through the process.
It was about time a buzzer beater went in!
He has no favorites, and doesn't plan to make a decision anytime soon. The whole read is here: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2012/02/catching-up-with-taquan-mizzell.
Here's some new film.
The kid definitely has some moves, extremely shifty with a knack for getting away from the pile.
strength is open field tackling ... pass coverage is his biggest liability.
now that he is a VT commit does Mike Farrel drop him out of the Rivals 100 per his usual practice?
Just kidding. Sort of.
This is an awesome commitment to start the class with. Glad this guy is joining Hokie Nation
Really fast
He's not necessarily at a position of need, but Fisher is arguably a bigger "get" than we had in the entire 2012 class. With him on board early, and hopefully Kendall Fuller, this could end up being an all-time great Hokie class despite fewer available scholarships.
Looking forward to seeing this class develop - Fisher is an excellent way to kick this party off.
Let's find some OLs.
open field tackler, with speed and ball skills.
caleb .... not a qb.
between the 40's for the first 20 or so rows is gonna be more lame, don't let the those pro east make you think any different.
a few more older in the west, but unless you give a butt load of money, you likely won't be near them.
I got ya. I just wanted to point out that West side does have it's perks.
And yes, everyone on the West side is not awesome (every team has some bad fans), but generally the higher up you are the better it gets. We're row CCC, so we're good. Less money up there.
whether penn state becomes VERY relevant in CFB again is yet to be seen, but i think that nd and penn state would be VERY good for the acc .. and at the very least, good for them too...especially penn state.
13 TDs and 14 INTs ?? Obviously kid's got skills but little experience starting against big-time high school football players. Mad skills don't always translate to the field. Whoever gets him is taking a calculated-risk in my opinion and getting a 5* rating primarily from showing in a camp? Please .. He seems like he'll be a good one though. Just dont think VT's interested. If they were, they would've offered by now .. or maybe he's not interested. I know Hackenberg has been looking for a VT offer .. but haven't even seen Ryan Burns and VT mentioned in the same sentence.
I hope it's us.
I really would prefer not adding Uconn or Rutgers.... sure recently they''ve had moderate success in a lackluster big east, but down the stretch they really wont be relevant. I think Ideally Penn State and ND would be awesome additions. "If" PSU were to leave the B1G, I know for a fact many boosters and alumni (my parents included) would love to re-kindle some of their old rivalries (Maryland, Pitt). Additionally it would cut down on travel costs (for both the school, and the enormous fanbase in the mid-atlantic) given PSU is the eastern most school in their league. Notre Dame however would be less likely to join with all the cashh they bring in from their Tv deal... but i think if PSU were to hop on board ND would be pressured to follow suit.
The Four-Letter really likes this kid a lot.

are extremely unlikely. UK already plays UNC and Duke every year, so why join the ACC? My point was to list teams that fit the mold of what the ACC would be looking for, although UK's academics aren't "ACC quality." I think UConn is the only school that truly fits with what the ACC wants and what the school wants. The 16th team, when it happens, is going to be a surprise or a reach. I'm just hoping it's a surprise and not Louisville or Cincy.
