him being so far away from home definitely plays into this .. but i agree -- if you don't want to compete for your spot or be pushed or you feel like a better decision is to move on, so be it

didn't see the kid at all so i don't know what we'll be missing. if he was the #2 player out of minnesota, he must have some skills

whatever the case, he's a db -- long term, we can stand to lose someone here. it'll just force manning and tookes to step up.

In a sport like Football, sometimes you can't really get a fair shake at a position. Who knows if Bruce Taylor would have ever gotten meaningful playing time if River's wasn't injured? Things like that can keep a great player off the field. If he thinks he's got a better shot elsewhere to get on the field, I say more power to him. If coaches can jump ship on a paid contract, and we say "It's what's best fo rhim and his family", I don't see why players can't.

Whether we move Aromire or Jarrett back, or Donovan Riley, it will be interesting to see how the depth chart shakes out.

"Man. Everybody quick to hide from some competition and adversity these days. What happen to fight it out? Best man wins?" ... I wonder if this has anything to do with Manning coming in and pushing him early. The lack of depth is defiantly an concern, but if Manning is already putting this much pressure on him, then we can take somewhat of a positive out of the situation..and that is Manning is going to be a stud.

Unless something else comes out about this (not likely), I guess we assume he took notice of the deep DB haul we took in this year's class? Can't blame him, if he expected to get passed by Tookes and Manning. I'm sure glad Holmes didn't decide to do the same thing with the RB recruiting class of 2012.

Considering the GC Twitter account also announced O'Daniel is to announce on the same day, I don't think it was entirely Kendall's decision to wait this long. It sounds more like a GC/Rivals/NBC collusion to ensure good press and ratings right before signing day. A little bit of downer for Hokie fans who were looking to lock him up early. Oh well, maybe Fisher can be the one to influence other highly-rated recruits into Blacksburg this year. An early Bucky signing would be huge as well.

Including last years LB haul, VT has a lot of potential in the positions of Backer, Whip, and safety. The future looks good, much better than the current status, in which VT has no true Whip and a Backer that is average with no one pushing him. The competition for starting Whip and safety should be a good one to watch in 2-3 years.

Sorry, brief moment of pride in my high school coming through.

may have started from the fans but I am willing to bet most of the fans that are upset didn't sit through the Big East days. Also, Jim Weaver was qouted in the Washington Post last week saying Seth is in no trouble of being fired. Plus, there is no way we could afford to fire a basketball coach who we just gave a long extension to a couple of years ago. Fans can say the leash is short but I don't think the AD does.

Just where the 6-foot-1 205-pound prospect will play once he gets to Blacksburg remains to be seen. He wants to play safety in college, but coaches have talked to him about playing whip linebacker. Nature might be the decider.

"Depending on my body and how much weight I gain will determine what position I play," he said.

Fisher plays middle linebacker at Clover Hill, although he said coaches might move him around on defense quite a bit his senior season. He'll also play running back in a new offense Fisher described as a "tight pistol" formation.

He said he'll probably still take a couple of his official visits, but the Hokies are where his heart has always been.

"I always liked Virginia Tech," he said. "Growing up, I always watched them on TV. Every time I played a game, I always picked Virginia Tech. I was a Hokies fan since birth."

read a good write-up the other day on 2014 VA athletes. It will be a great class from the state. Brown looks to be a top 25 player in the country, likely a 5-star, and I've heard some comparing him to Suh. Apparently, Blanding and Hand are both sick too. All three look to be top 100 players.

Word is that Brown is looking to state in-state also but that could definitely change.

Here's the write-up.

regarded prospects on this target board but just a quick look at his film and the Shegog kid looks like a play maker on both sides of the ball he sticks his foot in the ground and gets up field in a hurry could be a solid rover

About once every three months he goes in with that scowl and gets shot up with botox to ensure it keeps its place.

he could just be excitable.

This is from a bird, well, actually, a couple of them, Harris too. Although, he's visiting UVA this weekend and looks to be taking all five of his official visits.

The freshmen and sophmores are growing up. The game experience that Raines, Eddie, Rankin, Brown, Finney Smith and Barkley are getting is starting to pay off. Seth is loyal and has kept Davilla in the lineup, but with his injury it has allowed Raines and Barkley to grow on the court and they are looking better the last two games. Looking forward to watching us beat UVA on Tuesday and hopefully putting a dent in their tournament plans. Would love to be able to start the year all over again. We were up on Syracuse and NC in the 2nd half and think of all the close ones that slipped away. Should have beat Florida State twice....... If, if, if, if........this is one time that we need to get into the NIT and play some more.

is a DT prospect and has a shit ton of verbal offers. read that he blew it up at some combine in Jan.

has already started whether, you, me or joe smoe thinks it's fair or not. one person doesn't control it and the fanbase as a whole is getting frustrated.
