Dorian Johnson was expecting major-college scholarship offers to come, just not so quickly. The Belle Vernon junior right tackle is 6-foot-6, 275 pounds, but his size isn't the only thing that stands out. He bench presses 365, squats 490 and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.88 seconds.

"He has long legs, great knee bend and 10 percent body fat," Belle Vernon coach Aaron Krepps said. "He's lean, and these coaches love that when they come in and see him. People love to see him run. He has a ton of upside, and I don't think he's done growing yet. He's going to be 310, 320 in college.

"He's a stud. There's no other way to put it."

Boston College, Cincinnati, Maryland, Pitt, Toledo, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have offered scholarships to Johnson, who was scheduled to visit Morgantown this weekend, plans to go to Penn State next weekend and might head to Michigan State next.

Johnson, however, said he "was always a Pitt fan" and new Panthers coach Paul Chryst made a positive impression by calling two weeks ago. Johnson's cousin, former Shady Side Academy star Scott Booker, is an assistant at Notre Dame so the Fighting Irish also could become a player.

"I think that definitely plays a big role in it," Johnson said. "I'm looking for a good academic program with a great atmosphere."

I don't think we stand a chance at landing him, but he'd be a great get.

East is a little rowdier and louder. One, because it has more people and two because the West has higher concentration of big $ donors, players' family, and recruits. So it tends to be a little less intense. That said, the least intense part of Lane is 10x more intense than the most intense part of uva's stadium. You won't find any ties or dingleberries swaying to music written 2 centuries ago.

I had seats in the back of the west my first year as a season ticket holder. It was still a great time and plenty of bourbon drinking/jumping/etc. Just not as fiery as the east. We dropped our donation and have been way up in the east for a while. It's blue collar as all hell as awesome up there. We are gonna try and move up some this year but stay in the east.

Bottom line, you can't go wrong. My only preference is to not be near a visitors section. A lot of people share that so when you are picking seats this year, don't be surprised if you can get a lot closer to the field in a section bumping up against visitors.

I like seeing new uniform tweaks once or twice a year, but I really want to see all maroon everything for a big-time game (obviously not against FSU or Bama). And this is from a young guy (freshman year 2007) who just wants to reminisce on the years I remember through youtube highlights.

FSU's blacks are really well done and pair black and a maroon-ish color. Match the black helmets with those and you have some bitching uniforms. I may Photoshop this later.

the black matte helmets and the black uni's ... just not the orange with it ... too much like Okey-State

not a big fan of the orange playing a big part of the uni/helmet at all . the orange helmets are REALLY bad.

Once the stench of that loss faded I really liked the black helmets. It would be nice to see them once or twice every year.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that *everyone* in West sucks, but every time I've sat in West, it's because my parents got tickets from one of their friends who couldn't/didn't want to go, and since the guy spends $$$$$ they were *really* good seats, but everyone's a stodgy old cooter that close to the field. I seriously got yelled at by some stuck up old lady for jumping up and down and screaming after we scored a TD. So, obviously my experience in West is different from yours :P

Hokie Athletics is killing me. That's all i have to say.

i repeat .. BAD ASS .. i think their unis are awesome .. some are a little over the top but some are awesome .. and i'm not saying that i'd want vt to change their uni to something like this permanently .. but here and there -- it would be cool ..

I'm only okay with a matte black helmet situation, if we were to change it up. I feel like the rest of the stuff (oregon as my prime example) is just too gimmicky. I would rather us stay traditional and prove it on the field as opposed to trying to get attention for our fancy uniforms.

Kyshone Jarrett will be moved to free safety. Again, I think you guys are nuts with our linebacker depth to waste Kyle Fuller by taking on 300 pound tackles all game long. Keep him at field corner where he can be used creatively to blitz, and then play him at nickle on 3rd and long.

I hope Jarrett can be the playmaker we are looking for in the secondary. As a former WR, he should have the ball skills, and we know he can tackle.

I'm with you the top one is pretty cool. I wouldnt want to switch to that permanently but could be cool for a one off.

I'm sort of in the minority in general in that I like teams wearing all the different unis though. Keeps things fresh. What Oregon wore at the Rose Bowl was bad fuckin ass. I thought what Georgia wore against Boise was really cool.

UVA would be able to score 30 points against anyone.

I prefer the old fashioned VT but with a modern twist. I do think they need some kind of updated uni that attracts recruits more though. But it doesn't sound like that will be this year.

IET .. it's for fun .. i'm all for tradition .. love the maroon w/vt helmets .. love the white helmets with both types of logos

just saying that if they decided to get all modern, i'd prefer to keep any kind of turkey off the helmet .. some "wings" would be doable i think

I like the way Oregon uses their duck wings on their helmets and unis .. They're sometimes subtle but just noticable enough to be cool. A solid maroon-metallic helmet with some "barely noticeable" turkey feathers with an orange VT in the front (or back) .. and all maroon unis with "barely noticable" turkey feathers on the shoulders (just a little lighter shade of red than maroon) .. that would be bad-ass

NCAA will know what to do with them... I put Fuller at FS after his first season at CB and he was like an 86 overall, not too shabby seeing as Eddie Whitley was like an 86 as a Senior

Tweedy to FS
Fuller continues his tackling rampage at his Nickel/Whip spot
Bonner at Boundary Corner
Jarrett/Manning/someone to rotate at Field

I'm going to do put Tweedy at FS in NCAA 12 and see what happens.

Of course this may also be the derp-iest idea ever.

what is wrong with the good 'ol fashioned maroon helmet, VT on the side, possibly with the strips (see GT game photos)??? I can stomach the white helmets (w/stripes if we have to have it, please). Other than that, lets leave the lids alone!!! No orange, no black, no conglomeration of pictures, graphics, fancy doo-dads, or any-freaking-thing else!! Just put an understated helmet on, buckle the chin strap, go out and beat the living crap out of somebody!

Ok, I feel better now. Rant over.

The closer Northwest you go in the East stands are reserved for students so anywhere on the outskirts of that is what I prefer. During the Clemson game I was in the midst of the student section unfortunately out of my element. Some of the kids where whiney asshats. I hate to say it but I'm more than sure I was somewhat similar at 20 pumped full of Beast. Therefore, I like to stay just outside to take in the energy and still be a part of the fun while being surrounded by people that are only browning out hahaha.

EVER says anything about a hokie being loud, I would hope it would be in a positive light. Hopefully anyone saying anything negative will be wearing UVA gear or will be quickly ushered out of the stadium.

I've only been on the west side one time, 50 yard line, about 10 rows below the press box (a generous friend gave me the tickets) for the Ohio game a few years ago. I thought the seats were perfect.... But I also remember sitting in the east stands for a 1980 30-0 shellac job on the wahoos....hard to get better than that!

I love the first helmet. It's different. If the cartoony Hokie bird was replaced by the fighting gobbler I'd absolutely love it.

When an injured player is unable to attempt his free throw(s), the following procedures shall be employed:
1. The coach from the opposing team shall select, without undue delay, one of the four players remaining on the court to attempt the free throw(s). Once selected by the coach, the shooter may not be changed.
2. After the selection has been identified to the referee, that player and his coach shall be informed of the selection.
3. A legal substitution(s) shall be made before the expiration of the 20-second time limit to replace an injured player.

Plenty of Noles were jeering and booing Eddie while he was hurt on the floor.
