Caption under the second picture....has the look of a kid who crapped his pants. I used it as a metaphor to describe his coaching and recruiting practices.

bringing vick into the equation solidifies my point...he was redshirted and left early to the nfl...had he played right away..that's another year we would have had him. my point is not for getting these guys committed, it's getting the most out of them once they are committed..

Levenberry, Burns, Fuller, Hackenberg, Allen, Green and O'Daniel all made it on ESPN's watch list. Take it for what its worth.

OSTERLOH is the coolest name for a tight end possibly ever. Just sounds like running fools over is a job in which he takes great pleasure.

Thanks- I really tried to catch the "spirit" of the situation.

In the immortal words of Bart Scott: "They talking about us like we the worst defense in the league...we the third best defense! We're a good football team. We been disrespected by you talking about their defense like we ain't the third best defense in the league...THEY CAN'T STOP A NOSEBLEED. CAN'T WAIT (insert Miami game date here)!"

- that manning MAY not redshirt but secondary is deep enough so i think he will
- i do NOT think that jc will redshirt. he'll get a full spring to get ready and he brings a unique skillset/talent to the field that the other rb's do not have
- i would be baffled if harris didn't redshirt .. they have the luxury of giving him an extra season to recover so they should
- it wouldn't surprise me either way if joel caleb was or was not redshirted .. personally, i don't think we should redshirt him. kids got skills and could probably make an impact with special offensive sets and special teams.

a few other that i think will redshirt but may not -- mangus and edmunds .. edmunds is so good that they say it's gonna be hard to keep him off the field .. and if they decide to move mangus to WR, he'll redshirt

GT came to Blacksburg 2 years in a row in 2005-06 to set up the current Coastal scheduling rotation after BC joined, so I don't think it would be unheard of to see some weird schedule things happen when Pitt/Cuse join the ACC. I'm sure every school will use this as an opportunity to lobby for a more balanced distribution.

Either way they slice it up, years where there are 5 ACC road games are gonna stink.

So you only play the schools that arent in your division or your cross divisional bff every 5 years?

Clemson and FSU will only come to Lane (and us to their places) every 6 years?

Also I dont like an unbalanced conference sked

But hey we all know they werent brought in for football anyways

It'll be cool to play Pitt every year again. Visions of Rutherford to Fitzgerald. . .

Hey Al- let me first say those respect comments I said earlier should be disregarded. Whatever I gained from the classic shootout in Blacksburg is now gone. Secondly: you really lack any conceptual understanding of common sense, don't you? You are running your mouth about the team that made you lose bowel control in the fourth quarter and, as some have pointed out (Cheri), you lost to Maryland (but we didn't have our best players......cry me a fregging river d-bag) who won ONE game against an FBS opponent. Oh and you LOST to UVA (hahaha). Lost in all my ranting is the fact that you have pissed Frank an Bud off, which is equivalent to poking a hibernating black bear father and mother surrounding their cubs- nicely done: you are about to be consumed as a snack. Prepare yourself, because if you thought last year's loss was painful, this woodshed we are going to drag you behind is going to be a whole lot worse. Get your resume ready to put on there that Frank Beamer worked you twice. Honestly all did you was add even more gas to an already combustible situation. We own this division- get used to it. Prepare yourselves cause the big bad bully of the playground is coming to get what's his in a few months.

Western PA is one of the best recruiting grounds in the northeast and Virginia tech has not tapped into it at all. The players that come from the area are perfect for VTs program in my opinion. I'm from PA and never understood why we didn't have a better footprint out there. Hopefully playing vs Pitt will help with this. Plus I love being able to go watch games in Pittsburgh its a great city to watch a sporting event in.

Now is a good time to do it. With the problems they've had with coaching and the downfall of recruiting because of it, they may be at their lowest point ever. Pitt will get better because Pitt is a good football school. Take the hit, play them on the road 2x in a row, and set up a balanced schedule.

What I think would happen is similar to something that happened in the PAC-12 this year with us still playing that game but it being a non conference game because it was scheduled as such before the conference realignment. It would be better if those games were converted to ACC games though so we could pick up another ooc team

These are our ACC home games in even years (exactly opposite in odd years).

Home	Away
----	----
Duke	Miami
GT	UNC
UVA	BC

As part of a non-conference home-and-home we're scheduled to play at Pitt in 2012 and host them in 2013. If they join the ACC in 2013 then my guess is they'd come on as a home game since we would have played at Heinz in 2012. In that scenario, I think our conference schedule becomes very unbalanced in even years when we have to travel to Miami, UNC, BC and Pitt. I think the only solution would be to play at Pitt in 2012 as a non-conference game, and again in 2013 as the start of the new ACC rotation. I'm not sure I like that either.

to be talkin shit right now? He's been at miami for one season. He also lost to the team he's bashing and 2-10 MARYLAND (who's other win was over an FCS team). DERP

I may disown the Hokies if Saban is ever affiliated with this program!

stiney as an ol coach. he was solid at best and worse than that few times.

I know many people want an upgrade in offensive line coaching, but OL coaches aren't very recognizable so this is just informative. I came across a few OL coaches with ties to VT. I don't know if they qualify as great OL coaches, but they aren't Curt Newsome. VT also would be a step up from their current gigs.

JB Grimes was OL coach at VT 1993-1997

John Latina graduated VT in 1981 after playing on the OL for Bill Dooley

Yeah unfortunately the video isn't great showing any preventions of release but that seemed to be a point on some of the recruiting boards that he was strong off the line against receivers. I will keep my eyes open for anything else and get it to the boards.

Thanks French- I am hoping Fuller IV comes in and really solidifies this backfield as well. The height is a bit concerning but I have confidence that Bud and Torian will know how to counter (I say that now but we shall see). This defensive backfield, with some tweaks, could be something special.
